Malachi 2

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 'And now, priests, this commandment is for you.	1 Et maintenant, à vous ce commandement, prêtres!
2 If you will not listen, if you will not sincerely resolve to glorify my name, says Yahweh Sabaoth, I shalcertainly lay a curse on you and I shal curse your blessing. Indeed I wil lay a curse, for none of you makes thisresolve.	2 Si vous n'écoutez pas, si vous ne prenez pas à coeur de donner gloire à mon Nom, dit YahvéSabaot, j'enverrai sur vous la malédiction et je maudirai votre bénédiction. En effet, je la maudirai, car il n'estpersonne parmi vous qui prenne cela à coeur.
3 Now, I am going to break your arm and throw offal in your faces -- the offal of your solemn feasts -- andsweep you away with it.	3 Voici que je vais vous briser le bras et vous jeter des ordures à la figure - les ordures de vossolennités - et vous enlever avec elles.
4 Then you wil know that I sent this commandment to you, to affirm my intention to maintain my covenantwith Levi, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	4 Et vous saurez que c'est moi qui vous ai adressé ce commandement pour que subsiste mon allianceavec Lévi, dit Yahvé Sabaot.
5 My covenant was with him -- a covenant of life and peace, and these were what I gave him -- acovenant of respect, and he respected me and held my name in awe.	5 Mon alliance était avec lui, c'était vie et paix et je les lui accordais, crainte et il me craignait, etdevant mon Nom il avait révérence.
6 The law of truth was in his mouth and guilt was not found on his lips; he walked in peace and justicewith me and he converted many from sinning.	6 L'enseignement de vérité était dans sa bouche et l'iniquité ne se trouvait pas sur ses lèvres; dansl'intégrité et la droiture il marchait avec moi; il en faisait revenir beaucoup de l'iniquité.
7 The priest's lips ought to safeguard knowledge; his mouth is where the law should be sought, since heis Yahweh Sabaoth's messenger.	7 Car c'est aux lèvres du prêtre de garder le savoir et c'est de sa bouche qu'on recherchel'enseignement: il est messager de Yahvé Sabaot.
8 But you yourselves have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to lapse by your teaching.Since you have destroyed the covenant of Levi, says Yahweh Sabaoth,	8 Mais vous vous êtes écartés de la voie; vous en avez fait trébucher un grand nombre parl'enseignement; vous avez détruit l'alliance de Lévi! dit Yahvé Sabaot.
9 so I in my turn have made you contemptible and vile to the whole people, for not having kept my waysand for being partial in applying the law.	9 Et moi je vous ai rendus méprisables et vils pour tout le peuple, dans la mesure où vous n'avez pasgardé mes voies mais avez fait acception de personnes en votre enseignement.
10 'Is there not one Father of us al ? Did not one God create us? Why, then, do we break faith with oneanother, profaning the covenant of our ancestors?	10 N'avons-nous pas tous un Père unique? N'est-ce pas un seul Dieu qui nous a créés? Pourquoidonc sommes-nous perfides l'un envers l'autre, en profanant l'alliance de nos pères?
11 Judah has broken faith; a detestable thing has been done in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah hasprofaned Yahweh's beloved sanctuary; he has married the daughter of an alien god.	11 Juda a agi en traître: une abomination a été perpétrée en Israël et à Jérusalem. Car Juda a profanéle sanctuaire cher à Yahvé. Il a épousé la fille d'un dieu étranger.
12 May Yahweh deprive such an offender of witness and advocate in the tents of Jacob among those whopresent offerings to Yahweh Sabaoth!	12 Que Yahvé retranche, pour l'homme qui agit ainsi, le témoin et le défenseur, des tentes de Jacobet du groupe de ceux qui présentent l'offrande à Yahvé Sabaot!
13 'And here is something else you do: you cover the altar of Yahweh with tears, with weeping andwailing, because he now refuses to consider the offering or to accept it from you.	13 Voici une seconde chose que vous faites: vous couvrez de larmes l'autel de Yahvé, aveclamentations et gémissements, parce qu'il se refuse à se pencher sur l'offrande et à l'agréer de vos mains.
14 And you ask, "Why?" Because Yahweh stands as witness between you and the wife of your youth,with whom you have broken faith, even though she was your partner and your wife by covenant.	14 Et vous dites: Pourquoi? - C'est que Yahvé est témoin entre toi et la femme de ta jeunesse que tuas trahie, bien qu'elle fût ta compagne et la femme de ton alliance.
15 Did he not create a single being, having flesh and the breath of life? And what does this single being seek? God -- given offspring! Have respect for your own life then, and do not break faith with the wife of youryouth.	15 N'a-t-il pas fait un seul être, qui a chair et souffle de vie? Et cet être unique, que cherche-t-il?Une postérité donnée par Dieu! Respect donc à votre vie, et la femme de ta jeunesse, ne la trahis point!
16 For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, God of Israel, and people concealing their cruelty under a cloak, saysYahweh Sabaoth. Have respect for your own life then, and do not break faith.	16 Car je hais la répudiation, dit Yahvé le Dieu d'Israël, et qu'on recouvre l'injustice de sonvêtement, dit Yahvé Sabaot. Respect donc à votre vie, et ne commettez pas cette trahison!
17 'You have wearied Yahweh with your talk. You ask, "How have we wearied him?" When you say, "Anyevil-doer is good as far as Yahweh is concerned; indeed he is delighted with them"; or when you say, "Where isthe God of fair judgement now?"	17 Vous fatiguez Yahvé avec vos discours! - Vous dites: En quoi le fatiguons-nous? - C'est quandvous dites: Quiconque fait le mal est bon aux yeux de Yahvé, en ces gens-là il met sa complaisance; ou encore:Où donc est le Dieu de la justice?
