1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	1 Jahvè parlò a Mosè:
2 'Order the Israelites to expel from the camp al those suffering from a contagious skin-disease or froma discharge, or who have become unclean by touching a corpse.	2 «Ordina ai figli di Israele che espellano dall’accampamento ogni lebbroso, chiunque soffre di scolo ed è impuro per il contatto con un cadavere.
3 Whether man or woman, you will expel them; you wil expel them from the camp, so that they do notpollute their encampments, in the heart of which I dwel .'	3 Espelleranno il maschio e la femmina; li espelleranno dall’accampamento. Così non contamineranno i loro accampamenti, in mezzo ai quali io dimoro».
4 The Israelites did so: they expel ed them from the camp. The Israelites did as Yahweh had told Moses.	4 Così fecero i figli di Israele: li espulsero dall’accampamento. I figli di Israele fecero come Jahvè aveva ordinato a Mosè.
5 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	5 Jahvè parlò a Mosè:
6 'Speak to the Israelites: "If a man or woman commits any of the sins by which people break faith withYahweh, that person incurs guilt.	6 «Di’ ai figli di Israele. L'uomo o la donna, che commette un qualsiasi peccato contro il prossimo mancando di fedeltà verso Jahvè, è colpevole.
7 "The person must confess the sin committed and restore in ful the amount owed, with one-fifth added.Payment is to be made to the person wronged.	7 Confesserà il peccato commesso, restituirà interamente l’oggetto della colpa con l’aggiunta di un quinto e lo darà a colui verso il quale è colpevole.
8 "If, however, the latter has no relation to whom restitution can be made, the restitution due to Yahwehreverts to the priest, apart from the ram of expiation with which the priest makes expiation for the guilty party.	8 Ma, se questi non c'è più né ha alcun parente prossimo a cui si possa restituire l’oggetto della colpa, l’oggetto della colpa da restituire sarà di Jahvè. Esso andrà al sacerdote oltre il montone con il quale egli espierà per lui.
9 For of everything the Israelites consecrate and bring to the priest he has a right to the portion setaside.	9 Sarà suo ogni contributo, cioè tutti i doni sacri che i figli di Israele offriranno al sacerdote.
10 Whatever anyone consecrates is his own; whatever is given to the priest belongs to the priest." '	10 A ognuno spetteranno i doni sacri che egli ha offerto; ciò che uno rimette al sacerdote sarà suo».
11 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	11 Jahvè si rivolse a Mosè:
12 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "If anyone has a wife who goes astray and is unfaithful to him,	12 «Parla ai figli di Israele, di’ loro: “Se un uomo ha la moglie che si è fuorviata e dimostrata infedele verso di lui
13 if some other man sleeps with the woman without the husband's knowledge, and she secretly makesherself unclean, without any witness against her, and without anyone catching her in the act;	13 e un uomo è giaciuto maritalmente con lei e ciò è nascosto agli occhi del marito perché non è stata scoperta sebbene si sia contaminata e non si sia trovato nessun testimonio contro di lei poiché non è stata colta sul fatto;
14 if, then, a spirit of suspicion comes over the husband and makes him suspicious of the wife who hasdisgraced herself, or again if this spirit of suspicion comes over him and makes him suspicious of his wife evenwhen she is innocent,	14 ora se uno spirito di gelosia verrà sul marito e lo renderà geloso della moglie che si è contaminata, oppure, se uno spirito di gelosia verrà sul marito e lo renderà geloso della moglie che in realtà non si è contaminata:
15 the man wil bring his wife before the priest, and on her behalf make an offering of one-tenth of anephah of barley meal. He will not pour oil over it or put incense on it, because this is a cereal offering for a caseof suspicion, a memorial offering to recal guilt to mind.	15 il marito condurrà la moglie dal sacerdote e porterà per lei l’offerta di un decimo di efa di farina d’orzo. Non spargerà olio sopra né metterà incenso sopra, poiché è una oblazione di gelosia, un’offerta di rievocazione che richiama alla mente una colpa.
16 "The priest will then bring the woman forward and place her before Yahweh.	16 Il sacerdote farà avvicinare la donna e la farà stare al cospetto di Jahvè.
17 The priest wil then take fresh water in an earthen jar, and on the water throw dust that he has takenfrom the floor of the Dwel ing.	17 Il sacerdote prenderà acqua santa in un vaso di terracotta, quindi prenderà polvere del suolo della Dimora e la metterà nell’acqua.
18 After he has placed the woman before Yahweh, he will unbind her hair and put the commemorativecereal offering (that is, the cereal offering for a case of suspicion) into her hands. In his own hands the priest wilhold the water of bitterness and cursing.	18 Il sacerdote farà stare la donna al cospetto di Jahvè, le scoprirà il capo e le porrà sulle palme delle mani l’oblazione della rievocazione, cioè l’oblazione della gelosia, mentre il sacerdote terrà in mano l’acqua amara e maledetta.
19 "The priest will then put the woman on oath. He will say to her: If it is not true that a man has sleptwith you, that you have gone astray and made yourself unclean while under your husband's authority, may thiswater of bitterness and cursing do you no harm.	19 Allora il sacerdote farà giurare la donna. Le dirà: Se non è vero che un uomo è giaciuto con te, se non è vero che tu ti sei fuorviata e contaminata mentre eri sotto l’autorità di tuo marito, ti sia inoffensiva quest’acqua amara e maledetta!
20 But if it is true that you have gone astray while under your husband's authority, that you have madeyourself unclean and that a man other than your husband has slept with you . . .	20 Ma se è vero che, mentre eri sotto l’autorità di tuo marito, ti sei fuorviata, contaminata e hai condiviso il giaciglio di un uomo che non era tuo marito...
21 Here the priest wil impose an imprecatory oath on the woman. He wil say to her: . . . May Yahwehmake you the object of your people's execration and curses, by making your sexual organs shrivel and your bel yswel !	21 Qui il sacerdote farà pronunciare alla donna un giuramento imprecatorio, poi proseguirà: Jahvè ti faccia oggetto di imprecazioni e di maledizioni in mezzo al tuo popolo e faccia appassire il tuo sesso e gonfiare il ventre.
22 May this water of cursing entering your bowels, make your belly swell and your sexual organs shrivel!To which the woman will reply: Amen! Amen!	22 Quest’acqua maledetta entri nelle tue viscere, ti gonfi il ventre e faccia appassire il tuo sesso. La donna risponderà: Così sia, così sia!
23 "Having written these curses on a scrol and washed them off in the water of bitterness,	23 Il sacerdote scriverà in un foglio queste imprecazioni e le cancellerà nell’acqua amara
24 the priest wil make the woman drink the water of bitterness and cursing; when the water of cursingenters into her, it wil become bitter.	24 e farà bere alla donna l’acqua amara e maledetta: entrerà in lei l’acqua maledetta e le sarà di amarezza.
25 "The priest will then take the cereal offering for a case of suspicion from the woman's hands, and holdit up before Yahweh with a gesture of offering, and so carry it up to the altar.	25 Dopo, il sacerdote prenderà dalla mano della donna l’oblazione della gelosia. Agiterà l’oblazione al cospetto di Jahvè, l’avvicinerà all’altare;
26 He will take a handful of it as a memorial and burn it on the altar. "After this, he wil make the woman drink the water.	26 il sacerdote ne prenderà una manata come rievocazione che manderà in fumo sull’altare. Poi farà bere l’acqua alla donna.
27 After he has made her drink it, if it is true that she has made herself unclean and been unfaithful toher husband, the water of cursing then entering into her wil indeed be bitter: her bel y wil swel and her sexualorgans shrivel, and she wil be an object of execration to her people.	27 E, dopo averle fatto bere l’acqua, se si è contaminata e dimostrata infedele verso il marito, entrerà in lei l’acqua maledetta e le sarà di amarezza: le si gonfierà il ventre e il suo sesso appassirà e questa donna sarà oggetto di imprecazione in mezzo al suo popolo.
28 But if she has not made herself unclean, but is clean, then she will go unscathed and wil bearchildren.	28 Se però la donna non si è contaminata ma è pura, rimarrà illesa e avrà figli.
29 "Such is the ritual in cases of suspicion, when a woman has gone astray and made herself uncleanwhile under her husband's authority,	29 Questa è la legge per i casi di gelosia: quando una donna si è fuorviata e contaminata mentre era sotto l’autorità del marito,
30 or when a spirit of suspicion has come over a man and made him suspicious of his wife. When ahusband brings such a woman before Yahweh, the priest will apply this ritual to her in full.	30 oppure quando viene su un uomo uno spirito di gelosia che lo rende geloso della moglie. Farà stare la moglie al cospetto di Jahvè e il sacerdote le applicherà tutta questa legge.
31 The husband wil be guiltless, but the woman wil bear the consequences of her guilt." '	31 L’uomo sarà immune da colpa; la donna sconterà la colpa”».
