NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	1 O Senhor disse a Moisés:
2 'Order the Israelites to expel from the camp al those suffering from a contagious skin-disease or froma discharge, or who have become unclean by touching a corpse.	2 "Ordena aos israelitas que expulsem do acampamento todo leproso, todo homem atacado de gonorréia, todo o que está imundo por ter tocado num cadáver.
3 Whether man or woman, you will expel them; you wil expel them from the camp, so that they do notpollute their encampments, in the heart of which I dwel .'	3 Homens ou mulheres, lançai-os fora do acampamento no meio do qual habito, para que não o manchem."
4 The Israelites did so: they expel ed them from the camp. The Israelites did as Yahweh had told Moses.	4 Os filhos de Israel fizeram assim, e lançaram-nos fora do acampamento; como o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés assim o fizeram.
5 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	5 O Senhor disse a Moisés: "Dize aos israelitas:
6 'Speak to the Israelites: "If a man or woman commits any of the sins by which people break faith withYahweh, that person incurs guilt.	6 se um homem ou uma mulher causa um prejuízo qualquer ao seu próximo, tornando-se assim culpado de uma infidelidade para com o Senhor,
7 "The person must confess the sin committed and restore in ful the amount owed, with one-fifth added.Payment is to be made to the person wronged.	7 ele confessará a sua falta e restituirá integralmente o objeto do delito, ajuntando um quinto a mais àquele que foi lesado.
8 "If, however, the latter has no relation to whom restitution can be made, the restitution due to Yahwehreverts to the priest, apart from the ram of expiation with which the priest makes expiation for the guilty party.	8 Se, porém, não houver quem o receba, esse objeto será dado ao Senhor, ao sacerdote, além do carneiro de expiação que se oferecerá pelo culpado.
9 For of everything the Israelites consecrate and bring to the priest he has a right to the portion setaside.	9 Toda oferta tomada das coisas santas que os israelitas apresentam ao sacerdote lhe pertencerá;
10 Whatever anyone consecrates is his own; whatever is given to the priest belongs to the priest." '	10 as coisas consagradas lhe pertencerão; o que se entrega ao sacerdote será dele."
11 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	11 O Senhor disse a Moisés: "Dize aos israelitas o seguinte:
12 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "If anyone has a wife who goes astray and is unfaithful to him,	12 Se uma mulher desviar-se de seu marido e lhe for infiel,
13 if some other man sleeps with the woman without the husband's knowledge, and she secretly makesherself unclean, without any witness against her, and without anyone catching her in the act;	13 dormindo com outro homem, e isso se passar às ocultas de seu marido, se essa mulher se tiver manchado em segredo, de modo que não haja testemunhas contra ela e ela não tenha sido surpreendida em flagrante delito;
14 if, then, a spirit of suspicion comes over the husband and makes him suspicious of the wife who hasdisgraced herself, or again if this spirit of suspicion comes over him and makes him suspicious of his wife evenwhen she is innocent,	14 se o marido, tomado de um espírito de ciúmes, se abrasar de ciúmes por causa de sua mulher que se manchou, ou se ele for tomado de um espírito de ciúmes contra sua mulher que não se tiver manchado,
15 the man wil bring his wife before the priest, and on her behalf make an offering of one-tenth of anephah of barley meal. He will not pour oil over it or put incense on it, because this is a cereal offering for a caseof suspicion, a memorial offering to recal guilt to mind.	15 esse homem conduzirá sua mulher à presença do sacerdote e fará por ela a sua oferta: um décimo de efá de farinha de cevada; não derramará óleo sobre a oferta nem porá sobre ela incenso, porque é uma oblação de ciúme feita em recordação de uma iniqüidade.
16 "The priest will then bring the woman forward and place her before Yahweh.	16 O sacerdote mandará a mulher aproximar-se do altar e a fará estar de pé diante do Senhor.
17 The priest wil then take fresh water in an earthen jar, and on the water throw dust that he has takenfrom the floor of the Dwel ing.	17 Tomará água santa num vaso de barro e, pegando um pouco de pó do pavimento do tabernáculo, o lançará na água.
18 After he has placed the woman before Yahweh, he will unbind her hair and put the commemorativecereal offering (that is, the cereal offering for a case of suspicion) into her hands. In his own hands the priest wilhold the water of bitterness and cursing.	18 Estando a mulher de pé diante do Senhor, o sacerdote lhe descobrirá a cabeça e porá em suas mãos a oblação de recordação, a oblação de ciúme. O sacerdote terá na mão as águas amargas que trazem a maldição.
19 "The priest will then put the woman on oath. He will say to her: If it is not true that a man has sleptwith you, that you have gone astray and made yourself unclean while under your husband's authority, may thiswater of bitterness and cursing do you no harm.	19 E esconjurará a mulher nestes termos: se nenhum homem dormiu contigo, e tu não te manchaste abandonando o leito de teu marido, não te façam mal estas águas que trazem maldição.
20 But if it is true that you have gone astray while under your husband's authority, that you have madeyourself unclean and that a man other than your husband has slept with you . . .	20 Mas se tu te apartaste de teu marido e te manchaste, dormindo com outro homem...
21 Here the priest wil impose an imprecatory oath on the woman. He wil say to her: . . . May Yahwehmake you the object of your people's execration and curses, by making your sexual organs shrivel and your bel yswel !	21 O sacerdote fará então que a mulher preste o juramento de imprecação, dizendo: o Senhor te faça um objeto de maldição e de execração no meio de teu povo; faça emagrecer os teus flancos e inchar o teu ventre.
22 May this water of cursing entering your bowels, make your belly swell and your sexual organs shrivel!To which the woman will reply: Amen! Amen!	22 E estas águas, que trazem maldição, penetrem em tuas entranhas para te fazer inchar o ventre e emagrecer os flancos! Ao que a mulher responderá: Amém! Amém!
23 "Having written these curses on a scrol and washed them off in the water of bitterness,	23 O sacerdote escreverá essas imprecações num rolo e as apagará em seguida com as águas amargas.
24 the priest wil make the woman drink the water of bitterness and cursing; when the water of cursingenters into her, it wil become bitter.	24 E fará com que a mulher beba as águas amargas que trazem maldição, e essas águas de maldição penetrarão nela com sua amargura.
25 "The priest will then take the cereal offering for a case of suspicion from the woman's hands, and holdit up before Yahweh with a gesture of offering, and so carry it up to the altar.	25 O sacerdote tomará das mãos da mulher a oblação de ciúme, agitá-la-á diante do Senhor e a aproximará do altar;
26 He will take a handful of it as a memorial and burn it on the altar. "After this, he wil make the woman drink the water.	26 tomará um punhado dessa oblação como memorial e o queimará sobre o altar; depois disso dará de beber à mulher as águas amargas.
27 After he has made her drink it, if it is true that she has made herself unclean and been unfaithful toher husband, the water of cursing then entering into her wil indeed be bitter: her bel y wil swel and her sexualorgans shrivel, and she wil be an object of execration to her people.	27 Depois que ela as tiver bebido, se estiver de fato manchada, tendo sido infiel ao seu marido, as águas que trazem maldição trar-lhe-ão sua amargura: seu ventre inchará, seus flancos emagrecerão, e essa mulher será uma maldição no meio de seu povo.
28 But if she has not made herself unclean, but is clean, then she will go unscathed and wil bearchildren.	28 Mas, se ela não se tiver manchado, e for pura, ela será preservada e terá filhos.
29 "Such is the ritual in cases of suspicion, when a woman has gone astray and made herself uncleanwhile under her husband's authority,	29 Tal é a lei sobre o ciúme quando uma mulher se desviar de seu marido e se manchar,
30 or when a spirit of suspicion has come over a man and made him suspicious of his wife. When ahusband brings such a woman before Yahweh, the priest will apply this ritual to her in full.	30 ou quando o espírito de ciúme se apoderar de seu marido, de modo que ele se torne ciumento de sua mulher; ele a levará diante do Senhor e o sacerdote lhe aplicará integralmente essa lei.
31 The husband wil be guiltless, but the woman wil bear the consequences of her guilt." '	31 O marido ficará sem culpa, mas a mulher pagará a pena da sua iniqüidade."
