NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
2 'Order the Israelites to expel from the camp al those suffering from a contagious skin-disease or froma discharge, or who have become unclean by touching a corpse.	2 "Ordonne aux Israélites de renvoyer du camp tout lépreux, toute personne atteinte d'écoulement,ou qu'un cadavre aurait rendue impure.
3 Whether man or woman, you will expel them; you wil expel them from the camp, so that they do notpollute their encampments, in the heart of which I dwel .'	3 Homme ou femme, vous les renverrez, vous les expulserez du camp. Ainsi, les Israélites nesouilleront pas leur camp, où je demeure au milieu d'eux."
4 The Israelites did so: they expel ed them from the camp. The Israelites did as Yahweh had told Moses.	4 Ainsi firent les Israélites: ils les renvoyèrent du camp. Les Israélites agirent comme Yahvé l'avaitdit à Moïse.
5 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	5 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
6 'Speak to the Israelites: "If a man or woman commits any of the sins by which people break faith withYahweh, that person incurs guilt.	6 "Parle aux Israélites. Si un homme ou une femme commet quelqu'un de ces péchés par lesquels onfrustre Yahvé, cette personne est en faute.
7 "The person must confess the sin committed and restore in ful the amount owed, with one-fifth added.Payment is to be made to the person wronged.	7 Elle confessera le péché commis, et restituera la somme dont elle est redevable, majorée d'uncinquième. Elle la restituera à celui envers qui elle est en faute.
8 "If, however, the latter has no relation to whom restitution can be made, the restitution due to Yahwehreverts to the priest, apart from the ram of expiation with which the priest makes expiation for the guilty party.	8 Et si ce dernier n'a point de parent auquel on puisse restituer, la restitution due à Yahvé revient auprêtre, sans compter le bélier d'expiation au moyen duquel le prêtre fera sur le coupable le rite d'expiation.
9 For of everything the Israelites consecrate and bring to the priest he has a right to the portion setaside.	9 Car sur toute chose que les Israélites ont consacrée et apportée au prêtre, celui-ci a droit auprélèvement.
10 Whatever anyone consecrates is his own; whatever is given to the priest belongs to the priest." '	10 A chacun reviennent les choses qu'il a consacrées; ce que chacun remet au prêtre revient à celui-ci."
11 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	11 Yahvé parla à Moïse et dit:
12 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "If anyone has a wife who goes astray and is unfaithful to him,	12 "Parle aux Israélites; tu leur diras: S'il est quelqu'un que sa femme a trompé, s'étant dévoyée,
13 if some other man sleeps with the woman without the husband's knowledge, and she secretly makesherself unclean, without any witness against her, and without anyone catching her in the act;	13 si un homme, à l'insu du mari, a couché maritalement avec cette femme et qu'elle s'est rendueimpure dans le secret, sans qu'il y ait de témoins contre elle et sans qu'on l'ait prise sur le fait;
14 if, then, a spirit of suspicion comes over the husband and makes him suspicious of the wife who hasdisgraced herself, or again if this spirit of suspicion comes over him and makes him suspicious of his wife evenwhen she is innocent,	14 si maintenant un esprit de jalousie, venant sur le mari, le rend jaloux de sa femme qui s'estdéshonorée, ou encore si cet esprit de jalousie, venant sur lui, le rend jaloux de sa femme innocente:
15 the man wil bring his wife before the priest, and on her behalf make an offering of one-tenth of anephah of barley meal. He will not pour oil over it or put incense on it, because this is a cereal offering for a caseof suspicion, a memorial offering to recal guilt to mind.	15 cet homme conduira sa femme devant le prêtre, et fera pour elle une offrande d'un dixième demesure de farine d'orge. Il n'y versera pas d'huile et n'y mettra pas d'encens, car c'est une oblation de jalousie,une oblation commémorative, qui doit rappeler une faute.
16 "The priest will then bring the woman forward and place her before Yahweh.	16 Le prêtre fera approcher la femme et la placera devant Yahvé.
17 The priest wil then take fresh water in an earthen jar, and on the water throw dust that he has takenfrom the floor of the Dwel ing.	17 Puis il prendra de l'eau vive dans un vase d'argile et, ayant pris de la poussière sur le sol de laDemeure, il la répandra sur cette eau.
18 After he has placed the woman before Yahweh, he will unbind her hair and put the commemorativecereal offering (that is, the cereal offering for a case of suspicion) into her hands. In his own hands the priest wilhold the water of bitterness and cursing.	18 Ayant placé la femme devant Yahvé, il lui dénouera la chevelure et lui mettra dans les mainsl'oblation commémorative (c'est-à-dire l'oblation de jalousie). Mais dans la main du prêtre seront les eauxd'amertume et de malédiction.
19 "The priest will then put the woman on oath. He will say to her: If it is not true that a man has sleptwith you, that you have gone astray and made yourself unclean while under your husband's authority, may thiswater of bitterness and cursing do you no harm.	19 Ensuite, le prêtre déférera le serment à la femme. Il lui dira: S'il n'est pas vrai qu'un homme aitcouché avec toi, que tu te sois dévoyée et rendue impure, alors que ton mari a pouvoir sur toi, que ces eauxd'amertume et de malédiction te soient inoffensives!
20 But if it is true that you have gone astray while under your husband's authority, that you have madeyourself unclean and that a man other than your husband has slept with you . . .	20 Mais s'il est vrai que tu te sois dévoyée alors que ton mari a pouvoir sur toi, que tu te sois rendueimpure et qu'un homme autre que ton mari t'ait fait partager sa couche...
21 Here the priest wil impose an imprecatory oath on the woman. He wil say to her: . . . May Yahwehmake you the object of your people's execration and curses, by making your sexual organs shrivel and your bel yswel !	21 Le prêtre déférera ici à la femme un serment imprécatoire. Il lui dira:... Que Yahvé te fasse servir,dans ton peuple, aux imprécations et aux serments, en faisant flétrir ton sexe et enfler ton ventre!
22 May this water of cursing entering your bowels, make your belly swell and your sexual organs shrivel!To which the woman will reply: Amen! Amen!	22 Que ces eaux de malédiction pénètrent en tes entrailles pour que s'enfle ton ventre et que seflétrisse ton sexe! La femme répondra: Amen! Amen!
23 "Having written these curses on a scrol and washed them off in the water of bitterness,	23 Puis le prêtre mettra par écrit ces imprécations et les effacera dans les eaux d'amertume.
24 the priest wil make the woman drink the water of bitterness and cursing; when the water of cursingenters into her, it wil become bitter.	24 Il fera boire à la femme ces eaux d'amertume et de malédiction, et ces eaux de malédictionpénétreront en elle pour lui être amères.
25 "The priest will then take the cereal offering for a case of suspicion from the woman's hands, and holdit up before Yahweh with a gesture of offering, and so carry it up to the altar.	25 Prenant alors des mains de la femme l'oblation de jalousie, le prêtre tendra celle-ci en geste deprésentation devant Yahvé et la portera sur l'autel.
26 He will take a handful of it as a memorial and burn it on the altar. "After this, he wil make the woman drink the water.	26 Il en prendra une poignée, en mémorial, qu'il fera fumer sur l'autel. Il fera boire ces eaux à lafemme.
27 After he has made her drink it, if it is true that she has made herself unclean and been unfaithful toher husband, the water of cursing then entering into her wil indeed be bitter: her bel y wil swel and her sexualorgans shrivel, and she wil be an object of execration to her people.	27 Et lorsqu'il les lui aura fait boire, s'il est vrai qu'elle s'est rendue impure en trompant son mari,alors les eaux de malédiction, pénétrant en elle, lui seront amères: son ventre enflera, son sexe se flétrira, et pourson peuple elle servira d'exemple dans les malédictions.
28 But if she has not made herself unclean, but is clean, then she will go unscathed and wil bearchildren.	28 Si au contraire elle ne s'est pas rendue impure et si elle est pure, elle restera indemne et elle aurades enfants.
29 "Such is the ritual in cases of suspicion, when a woman has gone astray and made herself uncleanwhile under her husband's authority,	29 Tel est le rituel pour le cas de jalousie, quand une femme s'est dévoyée et rendue impure, alorsque son mari a pouvoir sur elle,
30 or when a spirit of suspicion has come over a man and made him suspicious of his wife. When ahusband brings such a woman before Yahweh, the priest will apply this ritual to her in full.	30 ou quand un esprit de jalousie est venu sur un homme et l'a rendu jaloux de sa femme. Lorsque lemari aura conduit cette femme devant Yahvé, le prêtre lui appliquera intégralement ce rituel.
31 The husband wil be guiltless, but the woman wil bear the consequences of her guilt." '	31 Le mari sera exempt de faute; la femme, elle, portera la sienne."
