NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	1 Il Signore disse a Mosè:
2 'Order the Israelites to expel from the camp al those suffering from a contagious skin-disease or froma discharge, or who have become unclean by touching a corpse.	2 "Ordina ai figli d'Israele di mandar via dall'accampamento qualunque lebbroso, chi ha emissione di seme, chi è impuro per un cadavere;
3 Whether man or woman, you will expel them; you wil expel them from the camp, so that they do notpollute their encampments, in the heart of which I dwel .'	3 manderete fuori dell'accampamento maschi e femmine: li allontanerete affinché non contaminino il loro accampamento, in mezzo al quale io abito".
4 The Israelites did so: they expel ed them from the camp. The Israelites did as Yahweh had told Moses.	4 Così fecero i figli d'Israele e li mandarono fuori dell'accampamento. Come aveva detto il Signore a Mosè, così fecero i figli d'Israele.
5 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	5 Il Signore ordinò a Mosè:
6 'Speak to the Israelites: "If a man or woman commits any of the sins by which people break faith withYahweh, that person incurs guilt.	6 "Di' ai figli d'Israele: un uomo o una donna che abbiano commesso qualsiasi peccato contro qualcuno, prevaricando dal Signore, quell'individuo è colpevole.
7 "The person must confess the sin committed and restore in ful the amount owed, with one-fifth added.Payment is to be made to the person wronged.	7 Confesserà il peccato commesso, restituirà l'oggetto della sua colpa per intero, vi aggiungerà il quinto e lo darà a colui verso il quale si è reso colpevole.
8 "If, however, the latter has no relation to whom restitution can be made, the restitution due to Yahwehreverts to the priest, apart from the ram of expiation with which the priest makes expiation for the guilty party.	8 Se poi non ci sarà nessun parente stretto a cui restituire l'oggetto della propria colpa, esso si restituirà al Signore, cioè al sacerdote, oltre al montone espiatorio con il quale si farà espiazione per lui.
9 For of everything the Israelites consecrate and bring to the priest he has a right to the portion setaside.	9 Ogni offerta di tutte le cose sante che i figli d'Israele presenteranno al sacerdote apparterrà a lui.
10 Whatever anyone consecrates is his own; whatever is given to the priest belongs to the priest." '	10 Le cose sante che uno consacrerà sono sue; ciò che uno dà al sacerdote, a questi apparterrà".
11 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	11 Il Signore ordinò a Mosè:
12 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "If anyone has a wife who goes astray and is unfaithful to him,	12 "Parla ai figli d'Israele e di' loro: Un uomo la cui moglie avesse deviato e avesse commesso una trasgressione contro di lui,
13 if some other man sleeps with the woman without the husband's knowledge, and she secretly makesherself unclean, without any witness against her, and without anyone catching her in the act;	13 e uno avesse dormito con lei con effusione di seme, e la cosa fosse rimasta nascosta agli occhi di suo marito, ed essa si fosse resa impura senza che ci fossero testimoni contro di lei e non fosse stata presa sul fatto,
14 if, then, a spirit of suspicion comes over the husband and makes him suspicious of the wife who hasdisgraced herself, or again if this spirit of suspicion comes over him and makes him suspicious of his wife evenwhen she is innocent,	14 e nel marito fosse passato uno spirito di gelosia da essere geloso di sua moglie, e lei fosse impura; o fosse passato in lui uno spirito di gelosia e fosse geloso di sua moglie e lei non fosse impura:
15 the man wil bring his wife before the priest, and on her behalf make an offering of one-tenth of anephah of barley meal. He will not pour oil over it or put incense on it, because this is a cereal offering for a caseof suspicion, a memorial offering to recal guilt to mind.	15 l'uomo condurrà sua moglie dal sacerdote e porterà la sua offerta per lei, un decimo di efa di farina d'orzo; non ci verserà olio e non ci metterà incenso, perché è un'offerta di gelosia, è un'offerta commemorativa che ricorda una colpa.
16 "The priest will then bring the woman forward and place her before Yahweh.	16 Il sacerdote la farà avvicinare e stare davanti al Signore.
17 The priest wil then take fresh water in an earthen jar, and on the water throw dust that he has takenfrom the floor of the Dwel ing.	17 Il sacerdote prenderà acqua santa in un vaso d'argilla, poi prenderà polvere dal suolo della dimora e la metterà nell'acqua.
18 After he has placed the woman before Yahweh, he will unbind her hair and put the commemorativecereal offering (that is, the cereal offering for a case of suspicion) into her hands. In his own hands the priest wilhold the water of bitterness and cursing.	18 Il sacerdote farà stare la donna davanti al Signore, scoprirà la testa della donna, metterà nelle sue mani l'offerta commemorativa, cioè l'offerta della gelosia, mentre in mano al sacerdote saranno le acque amare della maledizione.
19 "The priest will then put the woman on oath. He will say to her: If it is not true that a man has sleptwith you, that you have gone astray and made yourself unclean while under your husband's authority, may thiswater of bitterness and cursing do you no harm.	19 Poi il sacerdote la farà giurare e dirà alla donna: "Se un uomo non ha dormito con te e se non hai deviato in modo impuro con qualcuno al posto di tuo marito, sii immune da queste acque amare della maledizione.
20 But if it is true that you have gone astray while under your husband's authority, that you have madeyourself unclean and that a man other than your husband has slept with you . . .	20 E se hai deviato con chi non è tuo marito e ti sei resa impura e un uomo, che non è tuo marito, ti ha dato il suo letto...".
21 Here the priest wil impose an imprecatory oath on the woman. He wil say to her: . . . May Yahwehmake you the object of your people's execration and curses, by making your sexual organs shrivel and your bel yswel !	21 Il sacerdote farà pronunciare alla donna questo giuramento; il sacerdote dirà alla donna: "Il Signore ti faccia oggetto d'imprecazione e di maledizione in mezzo al tuo popolo, dandoti un fianco avvizzito e un ventre gonfio.
22 May this water of cursing entering your bowels, make your belly swell and your sexual organs shrivel!To which the woman will reply: Amen! Amen!	22 Entrino queste acque di maledizione nelle tue viscere per gonfiare il ventre e farti avvizzire il fianco". La donna dirà: "Amen, amen".
23 "Having written these curses on a scrol and washed them off in the water of bitterness,	23 Il sacerdote scriverà queste imprecazioni in un foglio e le farà scomparire nelle acque amare;
24 the priest wil make the woman drink the water of bitterness and cursing; when the water of cursingenters into her, it wil become bitter.	24 farà bere alla donna le acque amare della maledizione e le acque maledette entreranno in lei per sua amarezza.
25 "The priest will then take the cereal offering for a case of suspicion from the woman's hands, and holdit up before Yahweh with a gesture of offering, and so carry it up to the altar.	25 Il sacerdote prenderà dalla mano della donna l'offerta della gelosia, presenterà l'offerta al Signore e l'avvicinerà all'altare.
26 He will take a handful of it as a memorial and burn it on the altar. "After this, he wil make the woman drink the water.	26 Il sacerdote prenderà una manciata dall'offerta come memoriale e la farà fumare sull'altare; poi farà bere l'acqua alla donna.
27 After he has made her drink it, if it is true that she has made herself unclean and been unfaithful toher husband, the water of cursing then entering into her wil indeed be bitter: her bel y wil swel and her sexualorgans shrivel, and she wil be an object of execration to her people.	27 Dopo che le avrà fatto bere l'acqua, se sarà impura e avrà tradito il proprio marito, le acque amare della maledizione entreranno in lei, gonfieranno il suo ventre, renderanno avvizzito il suo fianco e la donna sarà maledetta in mezzo al suo popolo.
28 But if she has not made herself unclean, but is clean, then she will go unscathed and wil bearchildren.	28 Se la donna non sarà impura, ma pura, sarà riconosciuta innocente e sarà feconda.
29 "Such is the ritual in cases of suspicion, when a woman has gone astray and made herself uncleanwhile under her husband's authority,	29 Questa è la legge della gelosia, quando una donna avrà tradito il proprio marito e si sarà resa impura,
30 or when a spirit of suspicion has come over a man and made him suspicious of his wife. When ahusband brings such a woman before Yahweh, the priest will apply this ritual to her in full.	30 o un uomo sarà affetto da spirito di gelosia, geloso di sua moglie: costui farà stare la moglie davanti al Signore e il sacerdote attuerà per lei tutta questa legge.
31 The husband wil be guiltless, but the woman wil bear the consequences of her guilt." '	31 L'uomo sarà innocente da colpa e quella donna porterà la propria colpa".
