NEW JERUSALEM	Біблія
1 Now, the Reubenites and Gadites owned very large herds of cattle. Having seen that the territories ofJazer and Gilead formed an ideal region for raising stock,	1 Було ж у синів Рувима й у синів Гада багато скотини, сила-силенна. Побачили вони, що Язер-земля та Гілеад-земля були добрі для товару,
2 the Gadites and Reubenites went to Moses, the priest Eleazar and the leaders of the community, andsaid to them,	2 та й прийшли й кажуть до Мойсея, священика Єлеазара та князів громадських: —
3 'The territory of Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo and Beon,	3 «Атарот, Дівон, Язер, Німра, Хешбон, Елале, Севам, Нево та Беон,
4 which Yahweh has conquered before the advancing community of Israel, is ideal land for raisingstock, and your servants are cattle breeders.	4 земля, що Господь завоював перед громадою Ізраїля, — земля, добра для скотини, а в нас, рабів твоїх, така її сила!
5 So', they said, 'if you approve, give your servants this land for us to own; do not make us cross theJordan.'	5 Якщо ми знайшли, — кажуть, — ласку в твоїх очах, то дай цю землю рабам твоїм у власність; не переводь нас через Йордан!»
6 Moses said to the Gadites and Reubenites, 'Do you intend your brothers to go into battle while youstay here?	6 І відказав Мойсей синам Гада та синам Рувима: «Як? То брати ваші підуть на війну, а ви собі сидітимете тут?
7 Why are you discouraging the Israelites from crossing to the country which Yahweh has given them?	7 Хочете знеохотити синів Ізраїля, щоб вони не йшли в ту землю, яку Господь дав їм?
8 Your fathers behaved in the same way when I sent them from Kadesh-Barnea to see the country,	8 Ось так зробили й батьки ваші, коли я посилав їх із Кадеш-Барне Розглянути землю.
9 for, having gone as far as the Val ey of Eshcol and seen the country, they discouraged the Israelitesfrom entering the country which Yahweh had given them.	9 Добрались до Ешкол-долини, подивилися собі на землю та й кинули між синів Ізраїля нехіть, щоб вони не йшли в землю, яку дав їм Господь.
10 Hence Yahweh's anger was aroused that day and he swore this oath,	10 Запалав тоді Господь гнівом та й поклявся словами:
11 "No man of twenty years and over, who left Egypt, shal set eyes on the country which I promised onoath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob . . . , for they have not fol owed me absolutely,	11 Ті люди, що вийшли з Єгипту, від двадцятьох років і вище, не побачать землі, про яку я клявся Авраамові, Ісаакові та Якову, бо не були вони мені цілком слухняні,
12 except for Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua son of Nun: these indeed havefol owed Yahweh absolutely."	12 крім Калева, сина Єфунне, кенізія, та Ісуса Навина, — ці бо завжди йшли за Господом. —
13 Yahweh's anger being aroused by Israel, he made them wander in the desert for forty years, untilthe generation that offended Yahweh had all disappeared.	13 Отак зайнявся Господь гнівом проти Ізраїля і заставив його блукати пустелею сорок років, аж доки не вимер увесь той рід, що коїв речі, не благоугодні очам Божим.
14 And now you rise up in your father's place, offshoot of sinful stock, to increase Yahweh's burninganger with Israel even more!	14 І оце замість батьків ваших повстали ви, нащадки грішників, щоб іще збільшити палючий гнів Господній на Ізраїля!
15 If you turn away from him, he wil prolong the time spent in the desert, and you wil bring about thisentire people's ruin.'	15 Коли відвернетесь ви від нього, то він і далі триматиме цей народ у пустелі, і ви погубите цей увесь люд.»
16 They came to Moses and said, 'We should like to build sheepfolds here for our flocks and towns forour little ones.	16 Приступили вони тоді до Мойсея та й кажуть: «Побудуємо тут кошари для стад наших та оселі для родин наших,
17 We ourselves wil take up arms and lead the Israelites until we have brought them to the placeappointed for them, while our little ones stay in the fortified towns to be safe from the local inhabitants.	17 а самі чимдуж озброїмось і рушимо поперед синів Ізраїля, аж доки не приведемо їх на їхні місця; родини ж наші лишаться в укріплених оселях із-за мешканців країни.
18 We wil not return to our homes until every one of the Israelites has taken possession of his heritage.	18 Ми не повернемось до господи нашої, поки кожен із синів Ізраїля не дістане свою спадщину.
19 For we shall have no heritage with them on the other bank of the Jordan or beyond, since ourheritage has fal en to us here, east of the Jordan.'	19 Бо ми не хочемо ділити з ними спадкоємство по другому боці Йордану, тим що нам дістанеться наша спадщина сьогобіч Йордану, на схід сонця.»
20 Moses said to them, 'If you do as you have said, if you are prepared to fight before Yahweh,	20 Відрік їм Мойсей: «Коли зробите ви так, коли озброїтесь на війну перед Господом,
21 and if al those of you who bear arms cross the Jordan before Yahweh, until he has driven all hisenemies out before him,	21 і кожен з вас, озброєний, перейде за Йордан перед Господом, покіль Господь не прожене ворогів своїх з-перед себе,
22 then, once the country has become subject to Yahweh, you may go back, and will have dischargedyour obligation to Yahweh and Israel, and Yahweh wil consider this territory yours.	22 і покіль увесь край не буде йому підбитий, і лише по тому повернетесь, то тоді ви будете безвинні перед, Господом та перед Ізраїлем, і край оцей буде вашою власністю перед Господом.
23 But if you do not, you wil sin against Yahweh, and be sure your sin wil find you out.	23 Коли ж не зробите так, то згрішите перед Господом; затямте, що спіткає вас тоді кара за гріх ваш.
24 Build towns, then, for your little ones and folds for your flocks; but do what you have promised.'	24 Отож будуйте собі оселі для ваших дітей та кошари для дрібної скотини, зробіть те, що висловили устами.»
25 The Gadites and Reubenites said to Moses, 'Your servants will do as my lord directs.	25 Сини Гада та сини Рувима відповіли Мойсеєві: «Вчинять твої слуги так, як велить наш пан.
26 Our little ones, our wives, our flocks and al our livestock wil stay in the towns of Gilead,	26 Діти наші й жінки наші, отари наші й уся скотина наша нехай будуть тут, і в містах Гілеада
27 but your servants, each armed for war, will cross in Yahweh's name and fight, as my lord says.'	27 Слуги ж твої, кожен озброєний до бою, підуть перед Господом на війну, як велить нам пан.»
28 So Moses gave orders about them to the priest Eleazar, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads offamilies in the Israelite tribes.	28 Дав же Мойсей щодо них наказ Єлеазарові священикові та Ісусові Навинові й головам батьківських колін синів Ізраїля.
29 Moses said to them, 'If the Gadites and Reubenites, al those under arms, cross the Jordan with youto fight in Yahweh's name, then, once the country has become subject to you, you wil give them the territory ofGilead as theirs.	29 Сказав їм Мойсей: «Коли сини Гада й сини Рувима, усі озброєні, перейдуть з вами за Йордан, щоб воювати перед Господом, і країна буде вам підбита, тоді дасте Гілеад-землю їм у посілість.
30 But if they will not cross with you under arms, they wil receive their domains in Canaan with the restof you.'	30 Коли ж не перейдуть озброєні з вами, то мусітимуть оселитися з вами у Ханаан-землі.»
31 To this, the Gadites and Reubenites replied, 'What Yahweh has said to your servants, we shal do.	31 Сини ж Гада та сини Рувима відрекли: «Як повідав Господь твоїм слугам, так і зробимо:
32 Under arms, we shall cross in Yahweh's name into Canaan, so that ownership of our heritage onthis side of the Jordan will be ours.'	32 перейдемо озброєні перед Господом у Ханаан-землю, але нехай наша спадщина буде нам у власність сьогобіч Йордану.»
33 Moses then gave them -- the Gadites, the Reubenites and the half-tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph-- the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the country and the townswithin its territory, and the country's frontier-towns.	33 І дав Мойсей їм, синам Гада, синам Рувима та половині коліна Манассії, Йосифового сина, царство Сихона, царя аморіїв, і царство Ога, царя Башану: землю з її містами та їхніми околицями, міста в країні довкола.
34 The Gadites rebuilt Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer,	34 І відбудували сини Гада — Дівон, Атарот, Ароер,
35 Atroth-Shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah,	35 Атрот-Шофан, Язер, Йогвегу,
36 Beth-Nimrah and Beth-Haran as fortified towns with folds for the flocks.	36 Бет-Німру, Бет-Гаран — укріплені міста й кошари для дрібної скотини.
37 The Reubenites rebuilt Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim,	37 Сини ж Рувима відбудували Хешбон, Елале, Кіріятаїм,
38 Nebo and Baal-Meon (the names of which were altered), and Sibmah, giving new names to thetowns which they rebuilt.	38 Нево, Ваал-Меон, змінивши їхні ймена, і Сівму; і дали вони назви містам, що їх побудували.
39 The descendants of Machir son of Manasseh went to Gilead. They conquered it and drove out theAmorites who were there.	39 А сини Махіра, сина Манассії, двигнулися на Гілеад і посіли його, прогнавши аморіїв, що жили там.
40 Moses gave Gilead to Machir son of Manasseh, and he settled there.	40 Мойсей віддав Гілеад Махірові, синові Манассії, і він осівся там.
41 Jair son of Manasseh went and seized their encampments, renaming them the Encampments ofJair.	41 Яір же, син Манассії, виправився і посів містечка та й назвав їх «містечками Яіра».
42 Nobah went and seized Kenat with its dependent townships, and cal ed it Nobah after himself.	42 Новах вирушив і зайняв Кенат з приналежними містами та й назвав його своїм ім’ям «Новах».
