Numbers 12

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Miriam, and Aaron too, criticised Moses over the Cushite woman he had married. He had indeedmarried a Cushite woman.	1 Maria e Aarão criticara Moisés por causa da mulher etíope que ele desposara. {Moisés tinha, com efeito, tomado uma mulher etíope.}
2 They said, 'Is Moses the only one through whom Yahweh has spoken? Has he not spoken through ustoo?' Yahweh heard this.	2 "Porventura é só por Moisés, diziam eles, que o Senhor fala? Não fala ele também por nós?" E o Senhor ouviu isso.
3 Now Moses was extremely humble, the humblest man on earth.	3 Ora, Moisés era um homem muito paciente, o mais paciente da terra.
4 Suddenly Yahweh said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, 'Come out, al three of you, to the Tent ofMeeting.' They went, al three of them,	4 Logo falou o Senhor a Moisés, a Aarão e a Maria: "Ide todos os três à tenda de reunião." E eles foram.
5 and Yahweh descended in a pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the Tent. He cal ed Aaronand Miriam and they both came forward.	5 O Senhor desceu na coluna de nuvem e parou à entrada da tenda. Chamou Aarão e Maria, e eles aproximaram-se.
6 Yahweh said: Listen to my words! if there is a prophet among you, I reveal myself to him in a vision, I speak to him in a dream.	6 "Ouvi bem, disse ele, o que vou dizer: Se há entre vós um profeta, eu lhe aparecerei em visão; eu, o Senhor, é em sonho que lhe falarei.
7 Not so with my servant Moses; to him my whole household is entrusted;	7 Mas não é assim a respeito de meu servo Moisés, que é fiel em toda a minha casa.
8 to him I speak face to face, plainly and not in riddles, and he sees Yahweh's form. How, then, couldyou dare to criticise my servant Moses?	8 A ele eu lhe falo face a face, manifesto-me a ele sem enigmas, e ele contempla o rosto do Senhor. Por que vos atrevestes, pois, a falar contra o meu servo Moisés?"
9 Yahweh's anger was aroused by them. He went away,	9 A cólera do Senhor se acendeu contra eles.
10 and as soon as the cloud left the Tent, there was Miriam covered with a virulent skin-disease, whiteas snow! Aaron turned to look at her and saw that she had contracted a virulent skin-disease.	10 O Senhor partiu, e a nuvem retirou-se de sobre a tenda. No mesmo instante, Maria foi ferida por uma lepra branca como a neve. Aarão, olhando para ela, viu-a coberta de lepra.
11 Aaron said to Moses: 'Oh, my Lord, please do not punish us for the sin we have been foolishenough to commit.	11 Aarão disse então a Moisés: "Rogo-te, meu senhor, não nos faças levar o peso desse pecado que cometemos num momento de loucura, e do qual somos culpados.
12 Do not let her be like some monster with its flesh half eaten away when it leaves its mother's womb!'	12 Que ela não fique como um aborto que sai do ventre de sua mãe, com a carne já meio consumida!"
13 Moses pleaded with Yahweh. 'O God,' he said, 'I beg you, please heal her!'	13 Moisés orou ao Senhor: "Ó Deus, disse ele, rogo-vos que a cureis."
14 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'If her father had done no more than spit in her face, would she not beunclean for seven days? Have her shut out of the camp for seven days, and then have her brought in again.'	14 O Senhor disse a Moisés: "Se seu pai lhe tivesse cuspido no rosto, não estaria ela coberta de vergonha durante sete dias? Que ela seja excluída do acampamento durante sete dias; depois será novamente reintegrada."
15 Miriam was shut out of the camp for seven days. The people did not set out until she returned.	15 Maria foi, pois, excluída do acampamento durante sete dias e o povo não se moveu daquele lugar, enquanto ela não foi novamente reintegrada.
16 Then the people moved on from Hazeroth and pitched camp in the desert of Paran.	16 Depois disso, o povo partiu de Haserot, e acampou no deserto de Farã.
