1 Miriam, and Aaron too, criticised Moses over the Cushite woman he had married. He had indeedmarried a Cushite woman.	1 E Maria ed Aronne ne parlarono contro Mosè, a causa della moglie di lui, che era di Etiopia:
2 They said, 'Is Moses the only one through whom Yahweh has spoken? Has he not spoken through ustoo?' Yahweh heard this.	2 E dissero: Ha egli forse il Signore parlato solamente per bocca di Mosè? Non ha egli parlatoegualmente anche a noi? Ciò avendo udito il Signore,
3 Now Moses was extremely humble, the humblest man on earth.	3 (Perocché Mosè era il più mansueto di quanti uomini viveano sopra la terra)
4 Suddenly Yahweh said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, 'Come out, al three of you, to the Tent ofMeeting.' They went, al three of them,	4 Disse subito a lui, e ad Aronne, e a Maria: Andate voi tre soli al tabernacolodell'alleanza. E andati che furono,
5 and Yahweh descended in a pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the Tent. He cal ed Aaronand Miriam and they both came forward.	5 Il Signore scese nella colonna della nuvola, e si pose all'ingresso del tabernacolo, echiamò Aronne e Maria. E questi essendosi appressati,
6 Yahweh said: Listen to my words! if there is a prophet among you, I reveal myself to him in a vision, I speak to him in a dream.	6 Disse loro: Udite le mie parole: Se saravvi tra voi profeta del Signore, io gli apparirò invisione, o gli parlerò in sogno.
7 Not so with my servant Moses; to him my whole household is entrusted;	7 Ma non così al mio servo Mosè, il quale in tutta la mia casa è fedelissimo:
8 to him I speak face to face, plainly and not in riddles, and he sees Yahweh's form. How, then, couldyou dare to criticise my servant Moses?	8 Perocché io a lui parlo testa a testa: ed egli chiaramente, e non sotto enimmi, o figurevede il Signore. Come adunque avete ardito di parlar male di Mosè mio servo?
9 Yahweh's anger was aroused by them. He went away,	9 E irato contro di essi si ritirò:
10 and as soon as the cloud left the Tent, there was Miriam covered with a virulent skin-disease, whiteas snow! Aaron turned to look at her and saw that she had contracted a virulent skin-disease.	10 E se n'andò anche la nuvola che era sopra il tabernacolo: e di repente Maria comparve biancacome neve per la lebbra. E avendola mirata Aronne, e vedutala coperta di lebbra,
11 Aaron said to Moses: 'Oh, my Lord, please do not punish us for the sin we have been foolishenough to commit.	11 Disse a Mosè: Di grazia, signore mio, non imputare a noi questo peccato che abbiamostoltamente commesso,
12 Do not let her be like some monster with its flesh half eaten away when it leaves its mother's womb!'	12 E che costei non diventi come morta, e come un aborto gettato fuor dell'utero di sua madre:ecco che la mela della carne di lei è già consumata dalla lebbra.
13 Moses pleaded with Yahweh. 'O God,' he said, 'I beg you, please heal her!'	13 E Mosè alzò le sue grida al Signore dicendo: Rendile, ti prego, o Signore, la sanità.
14 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'If her father had done no more than spit in her face, would she not beunclean for seven days? Have her shut out of the camp for seven days, and then have her brought in again.'	14 Rispose a lui il Signore: Se il padre suo le avesse sputato in faccia, non avrebb'elladovuto portar la sua confusione almeno per sette giorni? Sia separata fuor deglialloggiamenti per sette giorni, e poi sarà richiamata.
15 Miriam was shut out of the camp for seven days. The people did not set out until she returned.	15 Fu adunque Maria messa fuori degli alloggiamenti per sette giorni, e il popolo non si mosseda quel luogo, fino a tanto che Maria non fu richiamata.
16 Then the people moved on from Hazeroth and pitched camp in the desert of Paran.
