1 Miriam, and Aaron too, criticised Moses over the Cushite woman he had married. He had indeedmarried a Cushite woman.	1 Locutaque est Maria et Aaron contra Moysen propter uxorem eius Aethiopissam
2 They said, 'Is Moses the only one through whom Yahweh has spoken? Has he not spoken through ustoo?' Yahweh heard this.	2 et dixerunt: “ Num per solum Moysen locutus est Dominus? Nonne et per nos similiter est locutus? ”. Quod cum audisset Dominus
3 Now Moses was extremely humble, the humblest man on earth.	3 ­ erat enim Moyses vir humillimus super omnes homines, qui morabantur in terra ­
4 Suddenly Yahweh said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, 'Come out, al three of you, to the Tent ofMeeting.' They went, al three of them,	4 statim locutus est ad eum et ad Aaron et Mariam: “ Egredimini vos tantum tres ad tabernaculum conventus ”. Cumque fuissent egressi,
5 and Yahweh descended in a pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the Tent. He cal ed Aaronand Miriam and they both came forward.	5 descendit Dominus in columna nubis et stetit in introitu tabernaculi vocans Aaron et Mariam. Qui cum issent,
6 Yahweh said: Listen to my words! if there is a prophet among you, I reveal myself to him in a vision, I speak to him in a dream.	6 dixit ad eos: “ Audite sermones meos! Si quis fuerit inter vos propheta Domini, in visione apparebo ei vel per somnium loquar ad illum.
7 Not so with my servant Moses; to him my whole household is entrusted;	7 At non talis servus meus Moyses, qui in omni domo mea fidelissimus est!
8 to him I speak face to face, plainly and not in riddles, and he sees Yahweh's form. How, then, couldyou dare to criticise my servant Moses?	8 Ore enim ad os loquor ei, et palam et non per aenigmata et figuras Dominum videt! Quare ergo non timuistis detrahere servo meo Moysi? ”.
9 Yahweh's anger was aroused by them. He went away,	9 Iratusque contra eos abiit,
10 and as soon as the cloud left the Tent, there was Miriam covered with a virulent skin-disease, whiteas snow! Aaron turned to look at her and saw that she had contracted a virulent skin-disease.	10 nubes quoque recessit, quae erat super tabernaculum; et ecce Maria apparuit candens lepra quasi nix. Cumque respexisset eam Aaron et vidisset perfusam lepra,
11 Aaron said to Moses: 'Oh, my Lord, please do not punish us for the sin we have been foolishenough to commit.	11 ait ad Moysen: “ Obsecro, domine mi, ne imponas nobis hoc peccatum, quod stulte commisimus,
12 Do not let her be like some monster with its flesh half eaten away when it leaves its mother's womb!'	12 ne fiat haec quasi mortua et ut abortivum, quod proicitur de vulva matris suae; ecce iam medium carnis eius devoratum est a lepra ”.
13 Moses pleaded with Yahweh. 'O God,' he said, 'I beg you, please heal her!'	13 Clamavitque Moyses ad Dominum dicens: “ Deus, obsecro, sana eam! ”.
14 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'If her father had done no more than spit in her face, would she not beunclean for seven days? Have her shut out of the camp for seven days, and then have her brought in again.'	14 Cui respondit Dominus: “ Si pater eius spuisset in faciem illius, nonne debuerat saltem septem diebus rubore suffundi? Separetur septem diebus extra castra et postea revocabitur ”.
15 Miriam was shut out of the camp for seven days. The people did not set out until she returned.	15 Exclusa est itaque Maria extra castra septem diebus, et populus non est motus de loco illo, donec revocata est Maria.
16 Then the people moved on from Hazeroth and pitched camp in the desert of Paran.	16 Profectusque est populus de Aseroth, fixis tentoriis in deserto Pharan.
