Obadiah 1

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 Vision of Obadiah: about Edom. I have received a message from Yahweh, a herald has been sentthroughout the nations: 'Up! Let us march against this people. Into battle!' The Lord Yahweh says this:	1 Questa è la visione di Abdia (profeta). Questo dice lo Signore Iddio a Edom: noi udimmo dire questo da Dio (ad Edom), e mandollo a dire alle genti: levatevi suso, e leviamoci suso contro a lui nella battaglia.
2 Look, I have reduced you to the smal est of nations, you are now beneath contempt.	2 Ecco, io t' hoe fatto piccolo tra le genti; e hotti fatto dispregevole troppo.
3 Your proud heart has misled you, you whose home is in the crannies of the Rock, who make theheights your dwel ing, who think to yourself, 'Who can bring me down to earth?'	3 La superbia del tuo cuore ha tolto te, che abitavi nelle fessure delle pietre, ed esaltavi la tua sedia; il quale dice nel tuo cuore: chi mi tirerà in terra?
4 Though you soar like an eagle, though you set your nest among the stars, I shall bring you down fromthere!-declares Yahweh.	4 Se tu sarai esaltato come l' aquila, e se tu averai posto tra le stelle lo tuo nido, io ti trarrò indi, dice lo Signore Iddio.
5 If thieves were to come to you (or robbers during the night) surely they would steal only as much asthey wanted? If grape-pickers were to come to you, surely they would leave a few gleanings? But how you havebeen pil aged!	5 Se li rubatori fussono entrati a te, se li ladroni di notte dentro, come tu averesti taciuto? Or non averebbono loro rubato tanto che sarebbe loro bastato? E se li vendemmiatori fussono entrati a te, non ti averebbono lasciati almeno li racemi?
6 How Esau has been looted, his hidden treasures routed out!	6 A quel modo che cercarono Esaù, ritrovarono li suoi luoghi ascosti?
7 Your al ies al pursued you right to the frontier, your confederates kept you in suspense, then got thebetter of you, your own guests laid a trap for you, 'He has quite lost his wits.'	7 E cacciarono te insino al termine; tutti gli uomini del tuo patto ischernirono te (e la tua regione e soperchiarono te e la tua regione), e soperchiarono te li uomini della tua pace, i quali manicarono teco; e porranno li agguati sopra te; e in lui non è sapienza.
8 When that day comes- declares Yahweh- shall I not eliminate sages from Edom and intel igence fromMount Esau?	8 Dice le Signore: or non ucciderò io in quello dì tutti li savi di Idumea, e la prudenza del monte di Esaù?
9 Your warriors, Teman, wil be so demoralised that the people of Mount Esau will be massacred to thelast one. For the slaughter,	9 Eli tuoi forti temeranno lo mezzodì, acciò che muoia l'uomo del monte di Esan.
10 for the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame wil cover you and you will be annihilated for ever.	10 Per la uccisione, e per la malvagitade che facesti contro al tuo fratello Iacob, la confusione coprirà te, e perirai in eterno.
11 On the day, when you stood aloof while strangers carried off his riches, while foreigners passedthrough his gate and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were as bad as the rest of them.	11 Conciosia cosa che tu istèssi contro a lui, quando li stranieri pigliavano lo suo esèrcito, e li stranieri entravano nelle sue porte, e metteano le sorti sopra Ierusalem; e tu eri quasi come uno di loro.
12 Do not feast your eyes on your brother on the day of his misfortune. Do not gloat over the children ofJudah on the day of their ruin. Do not play the braggart on the day of distress.	12 E tu non dispregerai nel dì del tuo fratello, e nel dì della sua peregrinazione; e non ti rallegrerai sopra li figliuoli di Giuda nel dì della loro morte; e non magnificherai la tua bocca nel dì della angoscia.
13 Do not enter my people's gate on their day of calamity. Do not, you especial y, feast your eyes on theirsuffering on their day of calamity. Do not touch their possessions on their day of calamity.	13 E non entrerai nella porta del mio popolo nel dì della rovina loro; e non dispregerai tu ne' suoi mali nel dì del suo guastamento;
14 Do not wait at the crossroads to annihilate their fugitives. Do not hand over their survivors on the dayof distress.	14 E non istarai nelli passi delle vie per uccidere coloro che saranno fuggiti, e non richiuderai lo suo rimanente (cioè di Iacob) nel dì della tribulazione.
15 For the Day of Yahweh is near for al the nations. As you have done, so wil it be done to you: yourdeeds wil recoil on your own head.	15 Però che lo dì del Signore è presso sopra tutte le genti; e come tu facesti altrui, così sarà fatto a te; e convertirà la tua retribuzione nel tuo capo.
16 Just as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so will al the nations drink continual y, they wil drink,wil drink greedily, but they wil be as though they had never been!	16 E sì come voi bevesti sopra lo mio santo monte, così beranno tutte le genti insieme; e beranno, sorbiranno e saranno sì come se non fussono state.
17 But on Mount Zion wil be those who have escaped -it will be a sanctuary- and the House of Jacob willrecover what is rightful y theirs.	17 E nel monte di Sion sarà lo salvamento, e sarà santo; e la casa di Iacob possederà le genti che aveano posseduto lui.
18 Then the House of Jacob wil be a fire, the House of Joseph a flame, and the House of Esau likestubble. They wil set it alight and burn it up, and no one of the House of Esau wil survive. Yahweh has spoken.	18 E la casa di Iacob sarà fuoco, e la casa di Iosef sarà fiamma, e la casa di Esaù sarà la stipa; e saranno arse in loro, e divoreranno lui; e non saranno in lui reliquie, però che lo Signore hae parlato.
19 People from the Negeb wil occupy the Mount of Esau, people from the lowlands the country of thePhilistines; they wil occupy Ephraim and Samaria, and Benjamin wil occupy Gilead.	19 Ed erediteranno coloro che sono verso la parte d'austro, e che istanno sopra lo monte di Esaù, e quelli che stanno ne' campi de' Filistei; e possederanno la contrada di Efraim e la contrada di Samaria; e Beniamin possederà Galaad.
20 The exiles of this army, the sons of Israel, wil have the Canaanites' land as far as Zarephthah, whilethe exiles from Jerusalem now in Sepharad wil have the cities of the Negeb.	20 E la trasmigrazione di questo esèrcito dei figliuoli d' Israel sarà insino a tutti i luoghi de' Cananei insino a Sarepta (cioè una contrada di quelli che si chiamano Sidoni); e la transmigrazione di Ierusalem, la quale è in Bosforo (cioè in quella contrada, quella transmigrazione) possederà le cittadi d'austro.
21 Victorious, they wil climb Mount Zion to rule over Mount Esau, and sovereignty wil be Yahweh's!	21 E li salvatori saliranno nel monte di Sion a giudicare lo monte d' Esaù; e sarà lo reame al Signore.
