Obadiah 1

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Vision of Obadiah: about Edom. I have received a message from Yahweh, a herald has been sentthroughout the nations: 'Up! Let us march against this people. Into battle!' The Lord Yahweh says this:	1 Visión de Abdías. Así dice el Señor Yahveh a Edom: Una nueva he oído de parte de Yahveh, un mensajero ha sido enviado entre las naciones: «¡En pie, levantémonos contra él en guerra!»
2 Look, I have reduced you to the smal est of nations, you are now beneath contempt.	2 Mira, yo te he hecho pequeño entre las naciones, bien despreciable eres.
3 Your proud heart has misled you, you whose home is in the crannies of the Rock, who make theheights your dwel ing, who think to yourself, 'Who can bring me down to earth?'	3 La soberbia de tu corazón te ha engañado, tú que habitas en las hendiduras de la roca, que pones en la altura tu morada, y dices en tu corazón: «¿Quién me hará bajar a tierra?»
4 Though you soar like an eagle, though you set your nest among the stars, I shall bring you down fromthere!-declares Yahweh.	4 Aunque te encumbres como él águila, y pongas tu nido en las estrellas, de allí te haré bajar yo - oráculo de Yahveh.
5 If thieves were to come to you (or robbers during the night) surely they would steal only as much asthey wanted? If grape-pickers were to come to you, surely they would leave a few gleanings? But how you havebeen pil aged!	5 Si vinieran ladrones donde ti o salteadores por la noche, ¿no te robarían lo que les bastase? Si vinieran a ti vendimiadores, ¿no dejarían rebuscos? ¡Cómo has sido arrasado!
6 How Esau has been looted, his hidden treasures routed out!	6 ¡Cómo ha sido registrado Esaú, escudriñados sus escondrijos!
7 Your al ies al pursued you right to the frontier, your confederates kept you in suspense, then got thebetter of you, your own guests laid a trap for you, 'He has quite lost his wits.'	7 Te han rechazado hasta la frontera todos los que eran tus aliados, te han engañado, te han podido los que contigo en paz estaban. Los que comían tu pan te ponen debajo un lazo: «¡Ya no hay en él inteligencia!»
8 When that day comes- declares Yahweh- shall I not eliminate sages from Edom and intel igence fromMount Esau?	8 ¿Es que el día aquel - oráculo de Yahveh - no suprimiré yo de Edom los sabios, y la inteligencia de la montaña de Esaú?
9 Your warriors, Teman, wil be so demoralised that the people of Mount Esau will be massacred to thelast one. For the slaughter,	9 Y tendrán miedo tus bravos, Temán, para que sea extirpado todo hombre de la montaña de Esaú. Por la matanza,
10 for the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame wil cover you and you will be annihilated for ever.	10 por la violencia contra Jacob tu hermano, te cubrirá la vergüenza, y serás extirpado para siempre.
11 On the day, when you stood aloof while strangers carried off his riches, while foreigners passedthrough his gate and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were as bad as the rest of them.	11 El día que te quedaste a un lado, cuando extranjeros llevaban su ejército cautivo, cuando entraban extraños por sus puertas, y sobre Jerusalén echaban suertes, tú eras como uno de ellos.
12 Do not feast your eyes on your brother on the day of his misfortune. Do not gloat over the children ofJudah on the day of their ruin. Do not play the braggart on the day of distress.	12 ¡No mires con placer el día de tu hermano, el día de su desgracia, no te alegres de los hijos de Judá, en el día de su ruina, no dilates tu boca en el día de su angustia!
13 Do not enter my people's gate on their day of calamity. Do not, you especial y, feast your eyes on theirsuffering on their day of calamity. Do not touch their possessions on their day of calamity.	13 ¡No entres por la puerta de mi pueblo en el día de su infortunio, no mires con placer también tú su desgracia en el día de su infortunio, no lleves tu mano a su riqueza, en el día de su infortunio!
14 Do not wait at the crossroads to annihilate their fugitives. Do not hand over their survivors on the dayof distress.	14 ¡No te apostes en las encrucijadas, para exterminar a sus fugitivos, no entregues a sus supervivientes en el día de la angustia!
15 For the Day of Yahweh is near for al the nations. As you have done, so wil it be done to you: yourdeeds wil recoil on your own head.	15 Porque está cerca el Día de Yahveh para todas las naciones. Como tú has hecho, se te hará: sobre tu cabeza recaerá tu merecido.
16 Just as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so will al the nations drink continual y, they wil drink,wil drink greedily, but they wil be as though they had never been!	16 ¡Sí, como vosotros bebisteis sobre mi santo monte, beberán sin cesar todas las naciones, beberán y se relamerán, y serán luego como si no hubiesen sido!
17 But on Mount Zion wil be those who have escaped -it will be a sanctuary- and the House of Jacob willrecover what is rightful y theirs.	17 Pero en el monte Sión habrá supervivencia - será lugar santo - y la casa de Jacob recobrará sus posesiones.
18 Then the House of Jacob wil be a fire, the House of Joseph a flame, and the House of Esau likestubble. They wil set it alight and burn it up, and no one of the House of Esau wil survive. Yahweh has spoken.	18 Y será fuego la casa de Jacob, la casa de José una llama, estopa la casa de Esaú. Los quemarán y los devorarán, no habrá un evadido de la casa de Esaú: ¡ha hablado Yahveh!
19 People from the Negeb wil occupy the Mount of Esau, people from the lowlands the country of thePhilistines; they wil occupy Ephraim and Samaria, and Benjamin wil occupy Gilead.	19 Los del Négueb poseerán la montaña de Esaú, los de la Tierra Baja el país de los filisteos, poseerán la campiña de Efraím y la campiña de Samaria, y los de Benjamín poseerán Galaad.
20 The exiles of this army, the sons of Israel, wil have the Canaanites' land as far as Zarephthah, whilethe exiles from Jerusalem now in Sepharad wil have the cities of the Negeb.	20 Los deportados, este ejército de los hijos de Israel, poseerán Canaán hasta Sarepta, y los deportados de Jerusalén, que están en Sefarad, poseerán las ciudades del Négueb.
21 Victorious, they wil climb Mount Zion to rule over Mount Esau, and sovereignty wil be Yahweh's!	21 Y subirán victoriosos al monte Sión, para juzgar a la montaña de Esaú. ¡Y la realeza será de Yahveh!
