Obadiah 1

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Vision of Obadiah: about Edom. I have received a message from Yahweh, a herald has been sentthroughout the nations: 'Up! Let us march against this people. Into battle!' The Lord Yahweh says this:	1 Visión de Abdías sobre Edom.
2 Look, I have reduced you to the smal est of nations, you are now beneath contempt.	2 ¡Yo te hago pequeño entre los pueblos, tú eres el más despreciado!
3 Your proud heart has misled you, you whose home is in the crannies of the Rock, who make theheights your dwel ing, who think to yourself, 'Who can bring me down to earth?'	3 La soberbia de tu corazón te engañó, a ti, que habitas en las hendiduras de la roca, que pones tu morada en las alturas, y dices en tu corazón: «¿Quién me precipitará por tierra?».
4 Though you soar like an eagle, though you set your nest among the stars, I shall bring you down fromthere!-declares Yahweh.	4 Aunque te encumbres como el águila, aunque coloques tu nido entre las estrellas, de allí te precipitaré –oráculo del Señor–.
5 If thieves were to come to you (or robbers during the night) surely they would steal only as much asthey wanted? If grape-pickers were to come to you, surely they would leave a few gleanings? But how you havebeen pil aged!	5 Si vinieran ladrones a tu casa, o asaltantes nocturnos, ¿se llevarían más de lo que necesitan? Si vinieran vendimiadores, ¿no dejarían algunos racimos? En cambio tú ¡cómo has sido arrasado!
6 How Esau has been looted, his hidden treasures routed out!	6 ¡Cómo ha sido registrado Esaú y han sido explorados sus tesoros escondidos!
7 Your al ies al pursued you right to the frontier, your confederates kept you in suspense, then got thebetter of you, your own guests laid a trap for you, 'He has quite lost his wits.'	7 Te han expulsado hasta las fronteras, todos tus aliados te han engañado; tus amigos te han derrotado, los que compartían tu pan tendieron un lazo bajo tus pies: «¡Ya no hay más inteligencia en él!».
8 When that day comes- declares Yahweh- shall I not eliminate sages from Edom and intel igence fromMount Esau?	8 ¿Acaso ese día –oráculo del Señor– no haré desaparecer a los sabios de Edom y la inteligencia de la montaña de Esaú?
9 Your warriors, Teman, wil be so demoralised that the people of Mount Esau will be massacred to thelast one. For the slaughter,	9 Tus valientes tendrán miedo, Temán, a fin de que todo hombre sea extirpado de la montaña de Esaú. Por la masacre,
10 for the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame wil cover you and you will be annihilated for ever.	10 por la violencia contra tu hermano Jacob, la vergüenza te cubrirá y tú serás extirpado para siempre.
11 On the day, when you stood aloof while strangers carried off his riches, while foreigners passedthrough his gate and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were as bad as the rest of them.	11 El día en que estabas allí presente, cuando los extranjeros llevaban a su ejército cautivo, cuando extraños franqueaban sus puertas y echaban suertes sobre Jerusalén, tú también eras como uno de ellos.
12 Do not feast your eyes on your brother on the day of his misfortune. Do not gloat over the children ofJudah on the day of their ruin. Do not play the braggart on the day of distress.	12 ¡No mires con aire de triunfo a tu hermano en el día de su desastre! ¡No te alegres por los hijos de Judá en el día de su perdición! ¡No profieras insolencias en el día de la angustia!
13 Do not enter my people's gate on their day of calamity. Do not, you especial y, feast your eyes on theirsuffering on their day of calamity. Do not touch their possessions on their day of calamity.	13 ¡No entres por la puerta de mi pueblo en el día de su ruina! ¡No te regocijes, también tú, al ver su desgracia en el día de su ruina! ¡No extiendas tu mano hacia sus riquezas en el día de su ruina!
14 Do not wait at the crossroads to annihilate their fugitives. Do not hand over their survivors on the dayof distress.	14 ¡No te apostes en las encrucijadas para exterminar a sus fugitivos! ¡No entregues a sus sobrevivientes en el día de la angustia!
15 For the Day of Yahweh is near for al the nations. As you have done, so wil it be done to you: yourdeeds wil recoil on your own head.	15 ¡Porque está cerca el Día del Señor contra todas las naciones! Lo mismo que tú has hecho, se te hará a ti: ¡tu merecido recaerá sobre tu cabeza!
16 Just as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so will al the nations drink continual y, they wil drink,wil drink greedily, but they wil be as though they had never been!	16 Sí, como ustedes bebieron sobre mi Montaña santa, así beberán sin cesar todas las naciones: ¡beberán y se hartarán, y serán como si nunca hubieran existido!
17 But on Mount Zion wil be those who have escaped -it will be a sanctuary- and the House of Jacob willrecover what is rightful y theirs.	17 Pero sobre la montaña de Sión habrá refugiados –ese será un lugar santo– y la casa de Jacob reconquistará sus posesiones.
18 Then the House of Jacob wil be a fire, the House of Joseph a flame, and the House of Esau likestubble. They wil set it alight and burn it up, and no one of the House of Esau wil survive. Yahweh has spoken.	18 ¡La casa de Jacob será un fuego, la casa de José, una llama y la casa de Esaú, la paja! La abrasarán y la consumirán, y no habrá sobrevivientes en la casa de Esaú, porque ha hablado el Señor.
19 People from the Negeb wil occupy the Mount of Esau, people from the lowlands the country of thePhilistines; they wil occupy Ephraim and Samaria, and Benjamin wil occupy Gilead.	19 Los del Négueb poseerán la montaña de Esaú y la Sefelá, el país de los filisteos; ellos poseerán el territorio de Efraím y el territorio de Samaría, y Benjamín ocupará Galaad.
20 The exiles of this army, the sons of Israel, wil have the Canaanites' land as far as Zarephthah, whilethe exiles from Jerusalem now in Sepharad wil have the cities of the Negeb.	20 Los deportados, este ejército de los israelitas, poseerán el país de los cananeos hasta Sarepta, y los deportados de Jerusalén que están en Sefarad, poseerán las ciudades del Négueb.
21 Victorious, they wil climb Mount Zion to rule over Mount Esau, and sovereignty wil be Yahweh's!	21 Ellos subirán victoriosos a la montaña de Sión, para juzgar a la montaña de Esaú. ¡Y al Señor pertenecerá la realeza!
