Amos 8

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 This is what Lord Yahweh showed me: A basket of ripe fruit.	1 Così mi ha fatto vedere il Signore Dio: Ecco: un canestro di frutta matura.
2 'What do you see, Amos?' he asked. 'A basket of ripe fruit,' I said. Then Yahweh said, 'The time is ripefor my people Israel; I wil not continue to overlook their offences.	2 E disse: Che cosa stai vedendo tu, Amos? Risposi: Un canestro di frutta matura. E il Signore disse a me: E' arrivata la fine per il popolo mio Israele, non continuerò più a passar oltre, per lui.
3 That day, the palace songs will turn to howls, -declares the Lord Yahweh- the corpses wil be manythat are thrown down everywhere. Keep silent!'	3 In quel giorno urleranno le cantatrici del palazzo, oracolo del Signore. Moltitudine di cadaveri: in ogni luogo saranno gettati. Silenzio!
4 Listen to this, you who crush the needy and reduce the oppressed to nothing,	4 Ascoltate questo, voi che calpestate il povero fino a far cessare gli umili della terra,
5 you who say, 'When wil New Moon be over so that we can sel our corn, and Sabbath, so that we canmarket our wheat? Then, we can make the bushel-measure smaller and the shekel-weight bigger, byfraudulently tampering with the scales.	5 e dite: "Quando passerà la luna nuova, cosicché possiamo vendere grano, e il sabato, cosicché possiamo smerciare il frumento, rimpicciolendo l'efa e ingrandendo il siclo e falsificando bilance per frodare,
6 We can buy up the weak for silver and the poor for a pair of sandals, and even get a price for thesweepings of the wheat.'	6 acquistando per argento i miseri e il povero col prezzo di due sandali? Anche il cascame del frumento venderemo".
7 Yahweh has sworn by the pride of Jacob, 'Never wil I forget anything they have done.'	7 Il Signore ha giurato per l'orgoglio di Giacobbe: non dimenticherò sino alla fine nessuna delle vostre opere.
8 Wil not the earth tremble for this and al who live on it lament, as it al rises together like the Nile inEgypt, it swel s and then subsides like the Egyptian Nile?	8 Forse che per questo non tremerà la terra e non farà lutto ogni abitante in essa? Salirà tutta come il Nilo e s'ingrosserà, e sarà risucchiata come il Nilo d'Egitto.
9 'On that Day- declares the Lord Yahweh- I shal make the sun go down at noon and darken the earth inbroad daylight.	9 In quel giorno, oracolo del Signore Dio: farò tramontare il sole a mezzo il giorno e ottenebrerò la terra a mezzo di un giorno luminoso,
10 I shall turn your festivals into mourning and all your singing into lamentation; I shall make you all wearsacking round your waists and have al your heads shaved. I shal make it like the mourning for an only child,and it wil end like the bitterest of days.	10 stravolgerò le vostre festività in lutto e tutti i vostri cantici in lamentazione, farò mettere su tutti i fianchi sacco e sopra ogni testa rasatura, ne farò come un lutto d'unigenito, e la sua fine sarà come un giorno amaro.
11 'The days are coming- declares the Lord Yahweh- when I shal send a famine on the country, nothunger for food, not thirst for water, but famine for hearing Yahweh's word.	11 Ecco: giorni stanno arrivando, oracolo del Signore Dio, in cui manderò la fame sulla terra: non fame di pane né sete di acqua, bensì di ascoltare le parole del Signore.
12 People wil stagger from sea to sea, will wander from the north to the east, searching for Yahweh'sword, but wil not find it.	12 Andranno barcollando da mare a mare e vagheranno da settentrione a oriente per cercare la parola del Signore, ma non la troveranno.
13 'That Day, fine girls and stalwart youths will faint from thirst.	13 In quel giorno verranno meno le vergini belle e gli adolescenti per la sete.
14 The people who swear by the Sin of Samaria, who say, "Long live your god, Dan!" and "Hurrah for thepilgrimage to Beersheba!" will all fal , never to rise again.'	14 Essi, che giurano per la colpa di Samaria, e dicono: "Per la vita del tuo dio, o Dan"; o: "Per la vita del tuo diletto, Bersabea", cadranno e non si rialzeranno più.
