Amos 8

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 This is what Lord Yahweh showed me: A basket of ripe fruit.	1 El Señor me hizo ver esto: Había una canasta de frutos maduros.
2 'What do you see, Amos?' he asked. 'A basket of ripe fruit,' I said. Then Yahweh said, 'The time is ripefor my people Israel; I wil not continue to overlook their offences.	2 Y él me preguntó: «¿Qué ves, Amós?». Yo respondí: «Una canasta de frutos maduros». El Señor me dijo: «Mi pueblo Israel está maduro para su fin, ya no voy a perdonarlo más».
3 That day, the palace songs will turn to howls, -declares the Lord Yahweh- the corpses wil be manythat are thrown down everywhere. Keep silent!'	3 Aquel día, los cantos del palacio se convertirán en gemidos –oráculo del Señor–. ¡Serán tantos los cadáveres, que se los arrojará en cualquier lugar!
4 Listen to this, you who crush the needy and reduce the oppressed to nothing,	4 Escuchen esto, ustedes, los que pisotean al indigente para hacer desaparecer a los pobres del país.
5 you who say, 'When wil New Moon be over so that we can sel our corn, and Sabbath, so that we canmarket our wheat? Then, we can make the bushel-measure smaller and the shekel-weight bigger, byfraudulently tampering with the scales.	5 Ustedes dicen: «¿Cuándo pasará el novilunio para que podamos vender el grano, y el sábado, para dar salida al trigo? Disminuiremos la medida, aumentaremos el precio, falsearemos las balanzas para defraudar;
6 We can buy up the weak for silver and the poor for a pair of sandals, and even get a price for thesweepings of the wheat.'	6 compraremos a los débiles con dinero y al indigente por un par de sandalias, y venderemos hasta los desechos del trigo».
7 Yahweh has sworn by the pride of Jacob, 'Never wil I forget anything they have done.'	7 El Señor lo ha jurado por el orgullo de Jacob: Jamás olvidaré ninguna de sus acciones.
8 Wil not the earth tremble for this and al who live on it lament, as it al rises together like the Nile inEgypt, it swel s and then subsides like the Egyptian Nile?	8 ¿No temblará la tierra a causa de esto y estarán de duelo todos sus habitantes? Crecerá toda entera como el Nilo, se hinchará y bajará como el Río de Egipto.
9 'On that Day- declares the Lord Yahweh- I shal make the sun go down at noon and darken the earth inbroad daylight.	9 Aquel día –oráculo del Señor– yo haré que el sol se ponga al mediodía, y en pleno día cubriré la tierra de tinieblas;
10 I shall turn your festivals into mourning and all your singing into lamentation; I shall make you all wearsacking round your waists and have al your heads shaved. I shal make it like the mourning for an only child,and it wil end like the bitterest of days.	10 cambiaré sus fiestas en duelo y todos sus cantos en lamentaciones; haré que todos se ciñan un sayal y que se rapen todas las cabezas; haré que estén de duelo como por un hijo único, y su final será como un día de amargura.
11 'The days are coming- declares the Lord Yahweh- when I shal send a famine on the country, nothunger for food, not thirst for water, but famine for hearing Yahweh's word.	11 Vendrán días –oráculo del Señor– en que enviaré hambre sobre el país, no hambre de pan, ni sed de agua, sino de escuchar la palabra del Señor.
12 People wil stagger from sea to sea, will wander from the north to the east, searching for Yahweh'sword, but wil not find it.	12 Se arrastrarán de un mar a otro e irán errantes del norte al este, buscando la palabra del Señor, pero no la encontrarán.
13 'That Day, fine girls and stalwart youths will faint from thirst.	13 Aquel día, desfallecerán de sed las jóvenes hermosas y los jóvenes.
14 The people who swear by the Sin of Samaria, who say, "Long live your god, Dan!" and "Hurrah for thepilgrimage to Beersheba!" will all fal , never to rise again.'	14 Los que juran por el Idolo de Samaría, diciendo: «¡Por la vida de tu Dios, Dan!» y ¡Por la vida de tu Poder, Berseba!», todos ellos caerán para no levantarse más.
