Amos 1

1 Words of Amos one of the shepherds of Tekoa. The visions he had about Israel, in the time of Uzziahking of Judah and Jeroboam son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.	1 Verba Amos, qui fuit in pastori bus de Thecua; quae vidit super Israel indiebus Oziae regis Iudae et in diebus Ieroboam filii Ioas regis Israel, duobusannis ante terraemotum.
2 He said: Yahweh roars from Zion, and makes himself heard from Jerusalem; the shepherds' pasturesmourn, and the crown of Carmel dries up.	2 Et dixit: “ Dominus de Sion rugit et de Ierusalem dat vocem suam; et lugent pascua pastorum, et exsiccatur vertex Carmeli ”.
3 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Damascus, I have made my decree and wilnot relent: because they have threshed Gilead with iron threshing-sledges,	3 Haec dicit Dominus: “ Super tribus sceleribus Damasci et super quattuor verbum non revocabo: eo quod trituraverint in plaustris ferreis Galaad,
4 I shal send fire down on the House of Hazael to devour the palaces of Ben-Hadad;	4 mittam ignem in domum Hazael, et devorabit aedes Benadad;
5 I shal break the gate-bar of Damascus, I shal destroy the inhabitant of Bikath-Aven, the holder of thesceptre in Beth-Eden, and the people of Aram wil be deported to Kir, Yahweh says.	5 conteram vectem Damasci et disperdam habitatorem de Biceataven et tenentem sceptrum de Betheden; et transferetur populus Syriae Cir ”, dicit Dominus.
6 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Gaza, I have made my decree and wil notrelent: because they have deported entire nations as slaves to Edom,	6 Haec dicit Dominus: “ Super tribus sceleribus Gazae et super quattuor verbum non revocabo: eo quod transtulerint captivitatem perfectam, ut traderent eam in Edom,
7 I shal send fire down on the walls of Gaza to devour its palaces;	7 mittam ignem in murum Gazae, et devorabit aedes eius;
8 I shal destroy the inhabitant of Ashdod, the holder of the sceptre in Ashkelon; I shal turn my handagainst Ekron and the remnant of the Philistines wil perish, says the Lord Yahweh.	8 disperdam habitatorem de Azoto et tenentem sceptrum de Ascalone; convertam manum meam super Accaron, et peribunt reliqui Philisthinorum ”, dicit Dominus Deus.
9 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Tyre, I have made my decree and will notrelent: because they have handed hosts of captives over to Edom, heedless of a covenant of brotherhood,	9 Haec dicit Dominus: “ Super tribus sceleribus Tyri et super quattuor verbum non revocabo: eo quod tradiderint captivitatem perfectam in Edom et non sint recordati foederis fratrum,
10 I shall send fire down on the wal s of Tyre to devour its palaces.	10 mittam ignem in murum Tyri, et devorabit aedes eius ”.
11 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of Edom, I have made my decree and wil notrelent: because he has pursued his brother with the sword, because he has stifled any sense of pity, andperpetual y nursed his anger and constantly cherished his rage,	11 Haec dicit Dominus: “ Super tribus sceleribus Edom et super quattuor verbum non revocabo: eo quod persecutus sit in gladio fratrem suum et violaverit misericordiam eius et tenuerit ultra furorem suum et indignationem suam servaverit usque in finem,
12 I shall send fire down on Teman to devour the palaces of Bozrah.	12 mittam ignem in Theman, et devorabit aedes Bosrae ”.
13 Yahweh says this: For the three crimes, the four crimes of the Ammonites, I have made my decreeand will not relent: because they have disembowelled the pregnant women of Gilead in order to extend their ownfrontiers,	13 Haec dicit Dominus: “ Super tribus sceleribus filiorum Ammon et super quattuor verbum non revocabo: eo quod dissecuerint praegnantes Galaad ad dilatandum terminum suum,
14 I shall light a fire against the walls of Rabbah to devour its palaces amid war cries on the day of battle,in a whirlwind on the day of storm,	14 succendam ignem in muro Rabba, et devorabit aedes eius in ululatu in die belli et in turbine in die procellae;
15 and their king shal go into captivity, he and his chief men with him, says Yahweh.	15 et ibit rex eorum in captivitatem, ipse et principes eius simul ”, dicit Dominus.
