Daniel 7

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions that passed through hishead as he lay in bed. He wrote the dream down, and this is how the narrative began:	1 L'anno primo di Baldassàr, re di Babilonia, Daniele fece un sogno ed ebbe visioni nella sua mente sul suo giaciglio. Egli scrisse il sogno e ne fece il racconto.
2 Daniel said, 'I have been seeing visions in the night. I saw that the four winds of heaven were stirring upthe Great Sea;	2 Daniele prese a dire: Io guardavo nella mia visione durante la notte. Ecco: i quattro venti del cielo sconvolgevano il grande mare,
3 four great beasts emerged from the sea, each different from the others.	3 e quattro grandi bestie salivano dal mare, diverse l'una dall'altra.
4 The first was like a lion with eagle's wings and, as I looked, its wings were torn off, and it was lifted offthe ground and set standing on its feet like a human; and it was given a human heart.	4 La prima era come un leone e aveva ali di aquila. Mentre io guardavo, le furono strappate le ali e fu sollevata da terra; fu poi fatta stare sui piedi come un uomo e le fu dato un cuore di uomo.
5 And there before me was a second beast, like a bear, rearing up on one side, with three ribs in itsmouth, between its teeth. "Up!" came the command. "Eat quantities of flesh!"	5 Ed ecco un'altra bestia, la seconda, simile ad un orso; si alzava su di un lato e aveva tre costole nella sua bocca tra i denti. Le si diceva: "Su, mangia molta carne".
6 After this I looked; and there before me was another beast, like a leopard, and with four bird's wings onits flanks; it had four heads and was granted authority.	6 Dopo di ciò, io guardavo nelle visioni notturne ed ecco un'altra bestia, come una pantera; aveva quattro ali di uccello sul suo dorso. La bestia aveva quattro teste e le fu dato il potere.
7 Next, in the visions of the night, I saw another vision: there before me was a fourth beast, fearful,terrifying, very strong; it had great iron teeth, and it ate its victims, crushed them, and trampled their remainsunderfoot. It was different from the previous beasts and had ten horns.	7 Dopo di ciò, guardavo nelle visioni notturne ed ecco una quarta bestia, terribile, spaventosa e straordinariamente forte; essa aveva dei grandi denti di ferro; mangiava, stritolava e il rimanente lo calpestava con i piedi; essa era diversa da tutte le bestie precedenti ed aveva dieci corna.
8 'While I was looking at these horns, I saw another horn sprouting among them, a little one; three of theoriginal horns were pul ed out by the roots to make way for it; and in this horn I saw eyes like human eyes, and amouth ful of boasting.	8 Io guardavo le corna; ecco un altro piccolo corno spuntò in mezzo ad esse e al suo posto furono divelte tre delle corna precedenti. Ecco, in quel corno c'erano degli occhi come occhi di uomo e una bocca che proferiva parole arroganti.
9 While I was watching, thrones were set in place and one most venerable took his seat. His robe waswhite as snow, the hair of his head as pure as wool. His throne was a blaze of flames, its wheels were a burningfire.	9 Io guardavo: ed ecco, furono collocati troni e un Antico di giorni si assise. La sua veste era bianca come neve e i capelli del suo capo candidi come lana; il suo trono era come vampe di fuoco e le sue ruote come fuoco fiammeggiante.
10 A stream of fire poured out, issuing from his presence. A thousand thousand waited on him, tenthousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was in session and the books lay open.	10 Un fiume di fuoco colava scorrendo dalla sua presenza. Mille migliaia lo servivano e miriadi di miriadi stavano davanti a lui. Il tribunale sedette e i libri furono aperti.
11 'I went on watching: then, because of the noise made by the boastings of the horn, as I watched, thebeast was put to death, and its body destroyed and committed to the flames.	11 Io guardavo allora a causa dello strepito delle parole arroganti che il corno pronunziava, e vidi che la bestia fu uccisa, il suo corpo fu distrutto e fu gettato al calore del fuoco.
12 The other beasts were deprived of their empire, but received a lease of life for a season and a time.	12 Anche alle altre bestie fu tolto il potere, ma fu loro accordato un prolungamento di vita per un tempo e uno spazio di tempo.
13 I was gazing into the visions of the night, when I saw, coming on the clouds of heaven, as it were ason of man. He came to the One most venerable and was led into his presence.	13 Io guardavo nelle visioni notturne: ecco sulle nubi del cielo venire uno simile a un Figlio d'uomo; arrivò fino all'Antico di giorni e fu fatto avvicinare davanti a lui.
14 On him was conferred rule, honour and kingship, and all peoples, nations and languages became hisservants. His rule is an everlasting rule which wil never pass away, and his kingship wil never come to an end.	14 A lui fu concesso potere, forza e dominio e tutti i popoli, le nazioni e le lingue lo servirono. Il suo potere è un potere eterno che non finirà e il suo dominio è un dominio eterno che non sarà distrutto.
15 'I, Daniel, was deeply disturbed and the visions that passed through my head alarmed me.	15 Io, Daniele, sentii il mio spirito turbato a causa di ciò e le visioni della mia mente mi conturbavano.
16 So I approached one of those who were standing by and asked him about al this. And in reply herevealed to me what these things meant.	16 Mi avvicinai ad uno di coloro che erano lì presenti e gli domandai il vero senso di tutto ciò. Egli mi parlò e mi fece conoscere l'interpretazione delle cose:
17 "These four great beasts are four kings who will rise up from the earth.	17 "Quelle bestie enormi, che sono quattro, sono quattro re che sorgeranno dalla terra;
18 Those who receive royal power are the holy ones of the Most High, and kingship will be theirs for ever,for ever and ever."	18 e i santi dell'Altissimo riceveranno il regno e possederanno il regno per l'eternità dell'eternità".
19 Then I asked about the fourth beast, different from al the rest, very terrifying, with iron teeth andbronze claws; it ate its victims, crushed them, and trampled their remains underfoot;	19 Poi volli sapere la verità intorno alla quarta bestia che era diversa da tutte le altre, spaventosa; i suoi denti erano di ferro e le sue unghie di bronzo; mangiava, stritolava e il rimanente lo calpestava con i suoi piedi;
20 and about the ten horns on its head -- and why the other horn sprouted and the three original hornsfel , and why this horn had eyes and a mouth ful of boasting, and why it looked more impressive than its fel ows.	20 intorno alle dieci corna della sua testa, intorno all'altro che spuntava, davanti al quale ne erano caduti tre, e intorno a quel corno che aveva occhi e una bocca che proferiva parole insolenti, il cui aspetto era più maestoso di quello delle altre.
21 This was the horn I had watched making war on the holy ones and proving the stronger,	21 Io guardavo e quel corno mosse guerra ai santi e li soggiogò,
22 until the coming of the One most venerable who gave judgement in favour of the holy ones of the MostHigh, when the time came for the holy ones to assume kingship.	22 finché venne l'Antico di giorni e fu resa giustizia ai santi dell'Altissimo e venne il momento quando i santi possedettero il regno.
23 This is what he said: "The fourth beast is to be a fourth kingdom on earth, different from al otherkingdoms. It will devour the whole world, trample it underfoot and crush it.	23 Egli così disse: "La quarta bestia: un quarto regno sarà sulla terra, differente da tutti i regni. Divorerà tutta la terra, la calpesterà e la stritolerà.
24 As for the ten horns: from this kingdom will rise ten kings, and another after them; this one will bedifferent from the previous ones and wil bring down three kings;	24 E i dieci corni: da questo regno dieci re sorgeranno e un altro sorgerà dopo di loro; esso differirà dai precedenti e abbatterà tre re.
25 he wil insult the Most High, and torment the holy ones of the Most High. He will plan to alter theseasons and the Law, and the Saints wil be handed over to him for a time, two times, and half a time.	25 Proferirà parole contro l'Altissimo e affliggerà i santi dell'Altissimo; e avrà in animo di mutare i tempi e il diritto. Essi saranno dati in suo potere per un tempo, tempi e mezzo tempo.
26 But the court will sit, and he wil be stripped of his royal authority which wil be final y destroyed andreduced to nothing.	26 Ma il giudizio sarà fatto e gli sarà tolto il potere; sarà annientato e sarà distrutto sino alla fine.
27 And kingship and rule and the splendours of all the kingdoms under heaven will be given to the peopleof the holy ones of the Most High, whose royal power is an eternal power, whom every empire wil serve andobey."	27 E il regno e il potere e la grandezza dei regni sotto tutti i cieli sarà dato al popolo dei santi dell'Altissimo. Il suo regno è un regno eterno; tutti gli imperi lo serviranno e a lui obbediranno!".
28 'Here the narrative ends. 'I, Daniel, was greatly disturbed in mind, and I grew pale; but I kept thesethings to myself.'	28 Qui la fine del racconto. Io, Daniele, fui turbato fortemente nei miei pensieri, il mio aspetto cambiò e custodii le cose nel mio cuore.
