Daniel 7

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions that passed through hishead as he lay in bed. He wrote the dream down, and this is how the narrative began:	1 - Nel primo anno di Baltassar, re di Babilonia, Daniele ebbe un sogno; e la visione che gli si affacciò nel capo la ebbe nel suo letto, e mettendo per iscritto il sogno, lo riferì in una breve narrazione, compendiandolo succintamente. Disse dunque:
2 Daniel said, 'I have been seeing visions in the night. I saw that the four winds of heaven were stirring upthe Great Sea;	2 «Io stava assorto nella mia visione notturna, ed ecco i quattro vènti del cielo combattevano nel gran mare.
3 four great beasts emerged from the sea, each different from the others.	3 E quattro enormi bestie salivano fuori dal mare, diverse una dall'altra.
4 The first was like a lion with eagle's wings and, as I looked, its wings were torn off, and it was lifted offthe ground and set standing on its feet like a human; and it was given a human heart.	4 La prima pareva una leonessa e aveva le ali come un'aquila; io stava guardando e in quel mentre le furono strappate le ali, fu rizzata dal suolo e posta a stare sui suoi piedi come un uomo e le fu dato un cuore di uomo.
5 And there before me was a second beast, like a bear, rearing up on one side, with three ribs in itsmouth, between its teeth. "Up!" came the command. "Eat quantities of flesh!"	5 Poi, ecco un'altra bestia simile a un orso che erasi rizzata a lato; aveva tre filari nella bocca di tre ordini di denti e le dicevano: - Sorgi, e divora carni in quantità! -
6 After this I looked; and there before me was another beast, like a leopard, and with four bird's wings onits flanks; it had four heads and was granted authority.	6 Nel mentre stava osservando, eccone un'altra a guisa di leopardo; aveva le ali come un volatile in numero di quattro sopra il dorso, e la bestia era a quattro teste e le fu data facoltà di dominare.
7 Next, in the visions of the night, I saw another vision: there before me was a fourth beast, fearful,terrifying, very strong; it had great iron teeth, and it ate its victims, crushed them, and trampled their remainsunderfoot. It was different from the previous beasts and had ten horns.	7 Io stava ancora assorto nella visione notturna, ed ecco una quarta bestia, terribile e mostruosa e straordinariamente forte: aveva denti enormi di ferro, divorava e faceva a brani, calpestando i resti colle zampe; ma era diversa dalle altre bestie che aveva veduto innanzi e aveva dieci corna.
8 'While I was looking at these horns, I saw another horn sprouting among them, a little one; three of theoriginal horns were pul ed out by the roots to make way for it; and in this horn I saw eyes like human eyes, and amouth ful of boasting.	8 Intanto ch'io osservava le corna, ecco che un altro corno piccolo spuntò in mezzo alle altre; e tre corna, delle prime, furono dalla sua presenza svelte, e questo corno aveva come occhi umani e una bocca che parlava cose altisonanti.
9 While I was watching, thrones were set in place and one most venerable took his seat. His robe waswhite as snow, the hair of his head as pure as wool. His throne was a blaze of flames, its wheels were a burningfire.	9 Io guardava ancora e in quel mentre furono disposti dei troni e un Vegliardo di giorni si assise: le sue vesti erano candide come la neve e la sua capigliatura rassomigliava lana pura; il trono era tutto scintillante e le ruote fiammeggianti di splendore.
10 A stream of fire poured out, issuing from his presence. A thousand thousand waited on him, tenthousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was in session and the books lay open.	10 Un fiume di fuoco e impetuoso usciva dal suo cospetto; migliaia e migliaia lo servivano e miriadi a centinaia di migliaia stavano ai suoi cenni; la seduta giudicale incominciò e i libri furono aperti.
11 'I went on watching: then, because of the noise made by the boastings of the horn, as I watched, thebeast was put to death, and its body destroyed and committed to the flames.	11 Io stava intento a causa del linguaggio altisonante che quel corno proferiva e vidi che quella bestia fu uccisa, annientato il suo corpo e gettato ad ardere nel fuoco,
12 The other beasts were deprived of their empire, but received a lease of life for a season and a time.	12 e anche la potestà delle altre bestie fu tolta, essendo stata fissata la durata della loro vita fino a tale e a tale tempo.
13 I was gazing into the visions of the night, when I saw, coming on the clouds of heaven, as it were ason of man. He came to the One most venerable and was led into his presence.	13 Io stava ancora assorto nella visione notturna, quand'ecco venire in mezzo alle nuvole del cielo uno dalle sembianze del Figlio dell'uomo che si avanzò fino al Vegliardo di giorni, e davanti a lui fu presentato.
14 On him was conferred rule, honour and kingship, and all peoples, nations and languages became hisservants. His rule is an everlasting rule which wil never pass away, and his kingship wil never come to an end.	14 E questi gli conferì la potestà, l'onore e il regno; tutti i popoli, le schiatte e le lingue serviranno a lui; la sua potestà sarà una potestà eterna che non gli sarà mai tolta, e il suo regno, un regno che non sarà mai distrutto.
15 'I, Daniel, was deeply disturbed and the visions that passed through my head alarmed me.	15 Il mio spirito rimase sbigottito e io, Daniele, fui tutto impressionato di queste cose, le visioni affacciatesi nel mio capo mi avevano conturbato.
16 So I approached one of those who were standing by and asked him about al this. And in reply herevealed to me what these things meant.	16 Allora mi accostai a uno di quelli che assistevano e gli ricercai la verità di tutte quelle cose. Egli mi espose l'interpretazione dei significati e mi istruì.
17 "These four great beasts are four kings who will rise up from the earth.	17 - Queste quattro bestie enormi, disse, sono quattro regni che sorgeranno sopra la terra.
18 Those who receive royal power are the holy ones of the Most High, and kingship will be theirs for ever,for ever and ever."	18 Poi riceveranno il regno i santi di Dio Altissimo e conserveranno il regno per sempre e pei secoli dei secoli. -
19 Then I asked about the fourth beast, different from al the rest, very terrifying, with iron teeth andbronze claws; it ate its victims, crushed them, and trampled their remains underfoot;	19 Volli essere allora minutamente informato intorno alla quarta bestia che era molto diversa da tutte le altre e molto spaventevole, che aveva denti e unghie di ferro e divorava e faceva a brani, e i resti calpestava colle zampe;
20 and about the ten horns on its head -- and why the other horn sprouted and the three original hornsfel , and why this horn had eyes and a mouth ful of boasting, and why it looked more impressive than its fel ows.	20 e intorno alle dieci corna che aveva sul capo e a quell'altro corno che era spuntato, davanti al quale tre erano caduti e come quel corno avesse gli occhi e una bocca che parlava altisonante e che era maggiore di tutti.
21 This was the horn I had watched making war on the holy ones and proving the stronger,	21 Io guardava, ed ecco che quel corno faceva la guerra contro i santi e prevaleva su di essi.
22 until the coming of the One most venerable who gave judgement in favour of the holy ones of the MostHigh, when the time came for the holy ones to assume kingship.	22 Finchè venne il Vegliardo di giorni e diede la sentenza in favore dei santi dell'Altissimo e giunse in tempo e i santi conquistarono il regno.
23 This is what he said: "The fourth beast is to be a fourth kingdom on earth, different from al otherkingdoms. It will devour the whole world, trample it underfoot and crush it.	23 Allora quegli soggiunse: - La quarta bestia sarà il quarto regno sopra la terra che sarà maggiore di tutti gli altri e divorerà e calpesterà e stritolerà tutta la terra.
24 As for the ten horns: from this kingdom will rise ten kings, and another after them; this one will bedifferent from the previous ones and wil bring down three kings;	24 Le dieci corna sono dieci re di cotesto regno, e dopo di essi un altro re sorgerà e sarà più potente dei primi e atterrerà tre re.
25 he wil insult the Most High, and torment the holy ones of the Most High. He will plan to alter theseasons and the Law, and the Saints wil be handed over to him for a time, two times, and half a time.	25 E pronunzierà parole contro l'Eccelso, e opprimerà i santi dell'Altissimo, e si crederà di poter mutare i tempi e le leggi e saranno dati in sua balìa per un tempo, per più tempi e per metà di un tempo.
26 But the court will sit, and he wil be stripped of his royal authority which wil be final y destroyed andreduced to nothing.	26 E il tribunale in seduta deciderà che gli sia tolta la potestà e sia distrutto e perisca per sempre.
27 And kingship and rule and the splendours of all the kingdoms under heaven will be given to the peopleof the holy ones of the Most High, whose royal power is an eternal power, whom every empire wil serve andobey."	27 E l'impero, la potestà e la magnificenza del regno, che è sotto tutto il cielo, sia dato al popolo dei santi dell'Altissimo, il regno del quale è un regno eterno e tutti i re serviranno a lui e a lui obbediranno. -
28 'Here the narrative ends. 'I, Daniel, was greatly disturbed in mind, and I grew pale; but I kept thesethings to myself.'	28 Qui ebbe fine la parola. Io Daniele era rimasto molto conturbato nei miei pensieri e il mio volto aveva cangiato, ma nel mio cuore conservai la parola.
