Daniel 7

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions that passed through hishead as he lay in bed. He wrote the dream down, and this is how the narrative began:	1 En l'an un de Balthazar, roi de Babylone, Daniel vit un songe et des visions de sa tête, sur sa couche.Il rédigea le rêve par écrit. Début du récit:
2 Daniel said, 'I have been seeing visions in the night. I saw that the four winds of heaven were stirring upthe Great Sea;	2 Daniel dit: J'ai contemplé des visions dans la nuit. Voici: les quatre vents du ciel soulevaient lagrande mer;
3 four great beasts emerged from the sea, each different from the others.	3 quatre bêtes énormes sortirent de la mer, toutes différentes entre elles.
4 The first was like a lion with eagle's wings and, as I looked, its wings were torn off, and it was lifted offthe ground and set standing on its feet like a human; and it was given a human heart.	4 La première était pareille à un lion avec des ailes d'aigle. Tandis que je la regardais, ses ailes luifurent arrachées, elle fut soulevée de terre et dressée sur ses pattes comme un homme, et un coeur d'homme luifut donné.
5 And there before me was a second beast, like a bear, rearing up on one side, with three ribs in itsmouth, between its teeth. "Up!" came the command. "Eat quantities of flesh!"	5 Voici: une deuxième bête, tout autre, semblable à un ours, dressée d'un côté, trois côtes dans lagueule, entre les dents. Il lui fut dit: "Lève-toi, dévore quantité de chair."
6 After this I looked; and there before me was another beast, like a leopard, and with four bird's wings onits flanks; it had four heads and was granted authority.	6 Ensuite, je regardai et voici: une autre bête pareille à un léopard, portant sur les flancs quatre ailesd'oiseau; elle avait quatre têtes, et la domination lui fut donnée.
7 Next, in the visions of the night, I saw another vision: there before me was a fourth beast, fearful,terrifying, very strong; it had great iron teeth, and it ate its victims, crushed them, and trampled their remainsunderfoot. It was different from the previous beasts and had ten horns.	7 Ensuite je contemplai une vision dans les visions de la nuit. Voici: une quatrième bête, terrible,effrayante et forte extrêmement; elle avait des dents de fer énormes: elle mangeait, broyait, et foulait aux piedsce qui restait. Elle était différente des premières bêtes et portait dix cornes.
8 'While I was looking at these horns, I saw another horn sprouting among them, a little one; three of theoriginal horns were pul ed out by the roots to make way for it; and in this horn I saw eyes like human eyes, and amouth ful of boasting.	8 Tandis que je considérais ses cornes, voici: parmi elles poussa une autre corne, petite; trois despremières cornes furent arrachées de devant elle, et voici qu'à cette corne, il y avait des yeux comme des yeuxd'homme, et une bouche qui disait de grandes choses!
9 While I was watching, thrones were set in place and one most venerable took his seat. His robe waswhite as snow, the hair of his head as pure as wool. His throne was a blaze of flames, its wheels were a burningfire.	9 Tandis que je contemplais: Des trônes furent placés et un Ancien s'assit. Son vêtement, blanc commela neige; les cheveux de sa tête, purs comme la laine. Son trône était flammes de feu, aux roues de feu ardent.
10 A stream of fire poured out, issuing from his presence. A thousand thousand waited on him, tenthousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was in session and the books lay open.	10 Un fleuve de feu coulait, issu de devant lui. Mille milliers le servaient, myriade de myriades, deboutdevant lui. Le tribunal était assis, les livres étaient ouverts.
11 'I went on watching: then, because of the noise made by the boastings of the horn, as I watched, thebeast was put to death, and its body destroyed and committed to the flames.	11 Je regardais; alors, à cause du bruit des grandes choses que disait la corne, tandis que je regardais, labête fut tuée, son corps détruit et livré à la flamme de feu.
12 The other beasts were deprived of their empire, but received a lease of life for a season and a time.	12 Aux autres bêtes la domination fut ôtée, mais elles reçurent un délai de vie, pour un temps et uneépoque.
13 I was gazing into the visions of the night, when I saw, coming on the clouds of heaven, as it were ason of man. He came to the One most venerable and was led into his presence.	13 Je contemplais, dans les visions de la nuit: Voici, venant sur les nuées du ciel, comme un Filsd'homme. Il s'avança jusqu'à l'Ancien et fut conduit en sa présence.
14 On him was conferred rule, honour and kingship, and all peoples, nations and languages became hisservants. His rule is an everlasting rule which wil never pass away, and his kingship wil never come to an end.	14 A lui fut conféré empire, honneur et royaume, et tous peuples, nations et langues le servirent. Sonempire est un empire éternel qui ne passera point, et son royaume ne sera point détruit.
15 'I, Daniel, was deeply disturbed and the visions that passed through my head alarmed me.	15 Moi, Daniel, mon esprit en fut écrasé et les visions de ma tête me troublèrent.
16 So I approached one of those who were standing by and asked him about al this. And in reply herevealed to me what these things meant.	16 Je m'approchai de l'un de ceux qui se tenaient là et lui demandai de me dire la vérité concernant toutcela. Il me répondit et me fit connaître l'interprétation de ces choses:
17 "These four great beasts are four kings who will rise up from the earth.	17 "Ces bêtes énormes au nombre de quatre sont quatre rois qui se lèveront de la terre.
18 Those who receive royal power are the holy ones of the Most High, and kingship will be theirs for ever,for ever and ever."	18 Ceux qui recevront le royaume sont les saints du Très-Haut, et ils posséderont le royaume pourl'éternité, et d'éternité en éternité."
19 Then I asked about the fourth beast, different from al the rest, very terrifying, with iron teeth andbronze claws; it ate its victims, crushed them, and trampled their remains underfoot;	19 Puis je demandai à connaître la vérité concernant la quatrième bête, qui était différente de toutes lesautres, terrible extrêmement, aux dents de fer et aux griffes de bronze, qui mangeait et broyait, et foulait auxpieds ce qui restait;
20 and about the ten horns on its head -- and why the other horn sprouted and the three original hornsfel , and why this horn had eyes and a mouth ful of boasting, and why it looked more impressive than its fel ows.	20 et concernant les dix cornes qui étaient sur sa tête - et l'autre corne poussa et les trois premièrestombèrent, et cette corne avait des yeux et une bouche qui disait de grandes choses, et elle avait plus grand airque les autres cornes.
21 This was the horn I had watched making war on the holy ones and proving the stronger,	21 Je contemplais cette corne qui faisait la guerre aux saints et l'emportait sur eux,
22 until the coming of the One most venerable who gave judgement in favour of the holy ones of the MostHigh, when the time came for the holy ones to assume kingship.	22 jusqu'à la venue de l'Ancien qui rendit jugement en faveur des saints du Très-Haut, et le temps vintet les saints possédèrent le royaume.
23 This is what he said: "The fourth beast is to be a fourth kingdom on earth, different from al otherkingdoms. It will devour the whole world, trample it underfoot and crush it.	23 Il dit: "La quatrième bête sera un quatrième royaume sur la terre, différent de tous les royaumes.Elle mangera toute la terre, la foulera aux pieds et l'écrasera.
24 As for the ten horns: from this kingdom will rise ten kings, and another after them; this one will bedifferent from the previous ones and wil bring down three kings;	24 Et les dix cornes: de ce royaume, dix rois se lèveront et un autre se lèvera après eux; il sera différentdes premiers et abattra les trois rois;
25 he wil insult the Most High, and torment the holy ones of the Most High. He will plan to alter theseasons and the Law, and the Saints wil be handed over to him for a time, two times, and half a time.	25 il proférera des paroles contre le Très-Haut et mettra à l'épreuve les saints du Très-Haut. Il méditerade changer les temps et le droit, et les saints seront livrés entre ses mains pour un temps et des temps et un demi-temps.
26 But the court will sit, and he wil be stripped of his royal authority which wil be final y destroyed andreduced to nothing.	26 Mais le tribunal siégera et la domination lui sera ôtée, détruite et réduite à néant jusqu'à la fin.
27 And kingship and rule and the splendours of all the kingdoms under heaven will be given to the peopleof the holy ones of the Most High, whose royal power is an eternal power, whom every empire wil serve andobey."	27 Et le royaume et l'empire et les grandeurs des royaumes sous tous les cieux seront donnés au peupledes saints du Très-Haut. Son empire est un empire éternel et tous les empires le serviront et lui obéiront."
28 'Here the narrative ends. 'I, Daniel, was greatly disturbed in mind, and I grew pale; but I kept thesethings to myself.'	28 Ici finit le récit. Moi, Daniel, je fus grandement troublé dans mes pensées, ma mine changea et jegardai ces choses dans mon coeur.
