NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 He took me to the Hekal and measured its piers: six cubits wide on the one side, six cubits wide on theother.	1 Mi condusse poi nel santo e misurò i pilastri: sei cubiti di larghezza da una parte e sei dall'altra; tale lo spessore dei pilastri.
2 The width of the entrance was ten cubits, and the returns of the entrance were five cubits on the oneside and five cubits on the other. He measured its length: forty cubits; and its width: twenty cubits.	2 La porta d'ingresso era larga dieci cubiti e i lati di essa cinque cubiti da una parte e cinque cubiti dall'altra. Misurò quindi la lunghezza del santo: quaranta cubiti; la sua larghezza: venti cubiti.
3 He then went inside and measured the pier at the entrance: two cubits; then the entrance; six cubits;and the returns of the entrance: seven cubits.	3 Poi egli, entrato dentro, misurò il pilastro della porta: due cubiti. La porta era di sei cubiti e i lati della porta di sette cubiti.
4 He measured its length; twenty cubits; and its width against the Hekal: twenty cubits. He then said tome, 'This is the Holy of Holies.'	4 Misurò la lunghezza: venti cubiti; la larghezza: venti cubiti, dirimpetto al santo. Poi mi disse: "Questo è il santo dei santi".
5 He then measured the wal of the Temple: six cubits. The width of the lateral structure was four cubits,al round the Temple.	5 Misurò le pareti del santuario: sei cubiti; lo spessore delle celle laterali, tutt'attorno al santuario: quattro cubiti.
6 The cel s were one above the other in three tiers of thirty cells each. The cells were recessed into thewal , the wal of the structure comprising the cel s, all round, forming offsets; but there were no offsets in the walof the Temple itself.	6 Le celle laterali erano una sull'altra, a tre piani, con trenta celle per piano. Sul muro del santuario, vi erano rientranze come loro appoggi, senza però che gli appoggi fossero nel muro stesso del santuario.
7 The width of the cel s increased, storey by storey, corresponding to the amount taken in from the wallfrom one storey to the next, all round the Temple.	7 L'ampiezza delle celle aumentava salendo da un piano all'altro, perché la sporgenza sul muro del tempio andava restringendosi, lasciando alle celle un'ampiezza maggiore. Si saliva al piano superiore dal basso, passando attraverso quello medio.
8 Then I saw that there was a paved terrace all round the Temple. The height of this, which formed thebase of the side cells, was one complete rod of six cubits.	8 Il basamento a ridosso del santuario era un rialzo tutt'intorno, come fondamento per le celle, alto una canna, cioè sei cubiti.
9 The outer wal of the side cells was five cubits thick. There was a passage between the cel s of theTemple	9 Lo spessore della parete esterna delle celle laterali era di cinque cubiti. Lo spazio libero tra l'edificio laterale
10 and the rooms, twenty cubits wide, al round the Temple.	10 e le stanze era di venti cubiti tutt'attorno al santuario.
11 As a way in to the lateral cel s on the passage there was one entrance on the north side and oneentrance on the south side. The width of the passage was five cubits right round.	11 L'edificio laterale aveva, sullo spazio libero, uno sbocco a nord e uno a sud. L'ampiezza dello spazio libero era di cinque cubiti tutt'attorno.
12 The building on the west side of the court was seventy cubits wide, the wal of the building was fivecubits thick al round and its length was ninety cubits.	12 L'edificio dirimpetto allo spiazzo riservato, nel lato occidentale, era profondo settanta cubiti, più il muro dell'edificio, spesso cinque cubiti su tutti i lati; ed era lungo novanta cubiti.
13 He measured the length of the Temple: a hundred cubits.	13 Egli misurò il santuario: lunghezza cento cubiti. Anche lo spiazzo riservato più l'edificio e le sue mura erano lunghi cento cubiti.
14 The length of the court plus the building and its wal s: a hundred cubits.	14 La larghezza della facciata del santuario con lo spiazzo riservato a oriente: cento cubiti.
15 He measured the length of the building, along the court, at the back, and its gal eries on either side: ahundred cubits. 17 From the door to the inner part of the Temple, as wel as outside, and on the wall all round, bothinside and out,	17 A partire dall'ingresso, sia verso l'interno del santuario sia verso l'esterno, su tutta la parete all'intorno, dentro e fuori, vi erano riquadri.
18 were carved great winged creatures and palm trees, one palm tree between two winged creatures;each winged creature had two faces:	18 Vi erano raffigurati cherubini e palme: una palma e un cherubino alternati; i cherubini avevano due facce:
19 a human face turned towards the palm tree on one side and the face of a lion towards the palm treeon the other side, throughout the Temple, al round.	19 la faccia d'uomo verso una palma e la faccia di leone verso l'altra palma. Erano raffigurati su tutto il santuario all'intorno.
20 Winged creatures and palm trees were carved on the wal from the floor to above the entrance.	20 Da terra fino all'altezza dell'ingresso erano raffigurati cherubini e palme.
21 The doorposts of the Temple were square. In front of the sanctuary there was something like	21 La parete del santo aveva lo stipite della porta a forma quadrata. Davanti al santo dei santi vi era qualcosa come
22 a wooden altar, three cubits high and two cubits square. Its corners, base and sides were of wood.He said to me, 'This is the table in the presence of Yahweh.'	22 un altare di legno alto tre cubiti, lungo due e largo due; aveva gli angoli, la base e le pareti di legno. Quello mi spiegò: "Questa è la tavola che sta di fronte al Signore".
23 The Hekal had double doors and the sanctuary	23 Vi erano due porte, una per il santo e l'altra per il santo dei santi.
24 double doors. These doors had two hinged leaves, two leaves for the one door, two leaves for theother.	24 Le due porte avevano dei battenti completamente girevoli, due per l'una e due per l'altra.
25 On them (on the doors of the Hekal), were carved great winged creatures and palm trees like thosecarved on the wal s. There was a wooden porch roof on the front of the Ulam on the outside,	25 Raffigurati su di esse c'erano cherubini e palme, come sulle pareti; c'era un portale di legno dirimpetto all'atrio, all'esterno.
26 and windows with flanking palm trees on the sides of the Ulam, the cel s to the side of the Templeand the porch-roofs.	26 E c'erano inferriate e palme da una parte e dall'altra sui due fianchi dell'atrio, sulle celle annesse al santuario e sugli architravi.
