Ezekiel 19

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 'Now, raise a lament for the princes of Israel.	1 E tu pronunzia una lamentazione sui principi d'Israele,
2 Say: What was your mother? A lioness among lions; lying among the cubs she nursed her whelps.	2 e dirai: « Perchè tua madre, qual leonessa, s'è accovacciata fra i leoni, e in mezzo ai leoncelli ha nutriti i suoi piccoli?
3 She reared one of her whelps: he grew into a young lion; he learnt to tear his prey; he became a man-eater.	3 e mise fuori uno dei suoi leoncelli, che divenne leone, e imparò a rapire la preda e a divorare gli uomini.
4 The nations came to hear of him; he was caught in their pit; they dragged him away with hooks toEgypt.	4 Le nazioni sentirono parlare di lui, non senza averne ferite lo presero e lo menarono incatenato nella terra d'Egitto.
5 Her expectation thwarted, and seeing her hope dashed, she took another of her whelps and made ayoung lion of him.	5 E (la leonessa) vedendosi senza forze e priva delle sue attese speranze, prese un altro dei suoi leoncelli e lo fece leone,
6 He prowled among the lions, he grew into a young lion, he learnt to tear his prey; he became a man-eater.	6 ed egli andava insieme coi leoni, diventato leone, e imparò a rapire la preda e a divorar gli uomini,
7 He tore down their palaces, he destroyed their cities; the land and al its inhabitants were appal ed bythe sound of his roars.	7 imparò a far delle vedove e a ridurre le loro città a deserti, e la terra con tutto ciò che conteneva fu desolata dal rumore dei suoi ruggiti.
8 The nations marched out against him from the surrounding provinces; they spread their net over him;he was caught in their pit.	8 Allora le genti da ogni parte delle provincie si adunarono contro di lui, stesero sopra di lui la loro rete, e con loro ferite fu preso;
9 They shackled him with hooks, they took him to the king of Babylon and threw him into a fortress, sothat his voice could never again be heard on the mountains of Israel.	9 e lo misero in una gabbia, e lo menarono incatenato al re di babilonia, e lo rinchiusero in una prigione, affinchè non si sentisse più la sua voce sui monti d'Israele.
10 Your mother was like a vine planted beside the water, fruitful and leafy, because the water flowed soful .	10 La tua madre è come una vigna, nel tuo sangue piantata lungo l'acqua: crebbero i suoi frutti e le sue fronde a causa delle acque abbondanti.
11 She had stout stems which became kingly sceptres; she grew higher and higher, up into the clouds;she was admired for her height and the number of her branches.	11 E i suoi rami diventarono vigorosi per essere scettri di sovrani, e il suo fusto si levò tra le fronde ed essa si vide esaltata nel gran numero dei suoi tralci.
12 But she was furiously uprooted and thrown on the ground; the east wind dried up her fruit, she wasbroken to pieces; her stout stem dried up, the fire devoured it.	12 Ma è stata schiantata con furore e gettata per terra, il vento infocato ne ha fatto seccare i frutti; marcirono, inaridirono i suoi vigorosi tralci, il fuoco la divorò.
13 Now she has been transplanted to the desert, to a dry and thirsty land.	13 Ed ora è trapiantata in un deserto, in una terra impraticabile e senz'acqua.
14 Fire burst out of her stem devouring her branches and fruit. No more stout stem for her, no morekingly sceptre.' This is a lament; it was used as such.	14 E dalla verga dei suoi rami è uscito un fuoco che ne ha divorati i frutti, e non è rimasta in lei una verga forte per essere scettro di sovrano: questa è una lamentazione e sarà per il pianto ».
