Ezekiel 19

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 'Now, raise a lament for the princes of Israel.	1 E tu, filho do homem, faze ouvir este cântico fúnebre acerca dos príncipes de Israel.
2 Say: What was your mother? A lioness among lions; lying among the cubs she nursed her whelps.	2 Quem era tua mãe? Uma leoa entre leões; estendida entre os leõezinhos, ela criava os seus filhotes.
3 She reared one of her whelps: he grew into a young lion; he learnt to tear his prey; he became a man-eater.	3 Um dos filhotes cresceu até se tornar leão; aprendeu a despedaçar a presa, a devorar os homens.
4 The nations came to hear of him; he was caught in their pit; they dragged him away with hooks toEgypt.	4 Então as nações se coligaram contra ele, e foi preso em sua fossa; com cadeias foi levado para a terra egípcia.
5 Her expectation thwarted, and seeing her hope dashed, she took another of her whelps and made ayoung lion of him.	5 Sua mãe viu que sua expectativa e sua esperança eram vãs; ela tomou outro dos seus filhotes para dele fazer um leãozinho.
6 He prowled among the lions, he grew into a young lion, he learnt to tear his prey; he became a man-eater.	6 Ele abriu caminho entre os leões, tornou-se um jovem leão; aprendeu a despedaçar a presa, a devorar os homens;
7 He tore down their palaces, he destroyed their cities; the land and al its inhabitants were appal ed bythe sound of his roars.	7 devastou seus palácios e desolou suas cidades, a terra e seus habitantes ficaram amedrontados com os seus rugidos.
8 The nations marched out against him from the surrounding provinces; they spread their net over him;he was caught in their pit.	8 Coligaram-se contra ele as nações vizinhas; lançaram sobre ele uma cilada; em sua fossa ele foi preso.
9 They shackled him with hooks, they took him to the king of Babylon and threw him into a fortress, sothat his voice could never again be heard on the mountains of Israel.	9 Foi posto na jaula com cadeias, conduziram-no ao rei de Babilônia, prenderam-no numa fortaleza, para que não se ouvisse mais a sua voz nas montanhas de Israel.
10 Your mother was like a vine planted beside the water, fruitful and leafy, because the water flowed soful .	10 Tua mãe se assemelhava a uma vinha plantada à margem da torrente, carregada de frutos e de folhas, devido à abundância das águas.
11 She had stout stems which became kingly sceptres; she grew higher and higher, up into the clouds;she was admired for her height and the number of her branches.	11 Ela teve um ramo vigoroso, que se tornou um cetro real; sua estatura avultava-se em meio de uma espessa folhagem. Ela se distinguia por sua altitude e pelo número de seus ramos.
12 But she was furiously uprooted and thrown on the ground; the east wind dried up her fruit, she wasbroken to pieces; her stout stem dried up, the fire devoured it.	12 Ela porém foi arrancada furiosamente, e arremessada por terra. O vento do oeste dessecou seus frutos, que caíram; emurcheceu o seu vigoroso ramo, crestado pelo fogo,
13 Now she has been transplanted to the desert, to a dry and thirsty land.	13 e agora está ela plantada no deserto, em terra seca e árida.
14 Fire burst out of her stem devouring her branches and fruit. No more stout stem for her, no morekingly sceptre.' This is a lament; it was used as such.	14 O fogo, lançado num de seus ramos, devorou seu fruto; nela não há mais ramo forte, nem cetro real! É um canto fúnebre, que efetivamente serviu de lamentação.
