NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	1 E il Signore mi parlò e mi disse:
2 'Son of man, confront Jerusalem with her loathsome practices!	2 « Figlio dell'uomo, fa conoscere a Gerusalemme le sue abominazioni,
3 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: By origin and birth you belong to the land of Canaan. Your fatherwas an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.	3 e di': Così parla il Signore Dio a Gerusalemme: Per origine e per nascita sei della terra di Canaan: tuo padre è l'Amorreo, tua madre è Cetea.
4 At birth, the very day you were born, there was no one to cut your navel-string, or wash you in water toclean you, or rub you with salt, or wrap you in swaddling clothes.	4 Quando nascesti, il giorno in cui venisti alla luce, non ti fu tagliato l'ombelico, non fosti lavata con acqua salutare, non aspersa di sale, non involta in fasce.
5 No one looked at you with pity enough to do any of these things out of sympathy for you. You wereexposed in the open fields in your own dirt on the day you were born.	5 Nessun occhio ebbe pietà di te, da farti una di queste cose, ma fosti gettata per terra, con disprezzo della tua vita, il giorno che nascesti.
6 "I saw you kicking on the ground in your blood as I was passing, and I said to you as you lay in yourblood: Live!	6 Ma io passandoti vicino e vedendoti calpestata nel tuo sangue, ti dissi, mentre eri nel tuo sangue: « Vivi — ti dissi — anche immersa nel tuo sangue, vivi! »
7 and I made you grow like the grass of the fields. You developed, you grew, you reached marriageableage. Your breasts became firm and your hair grew richly, but you were stark naked.	7 Ti feci crescere come l'erba del campo, e crescesti e divenisti grande, ed entrasti (nell'età di prendere) gli ornamenti femminili, il tuo petto crebbe ed arrivasti alla pubertà: eri nuda e piena di vergogna.
8 Then I saw you as I was passing. Your time had come, the time for love. I spread my cloak over youand covered your nakedness; I gave you my oath, I made a covenant with you -- declares the Lord Yahweh --and you became mine.	8 Ed io ti passai vicino e ti vidi, e venuto il tuo tempo, il tempo degli amanti, io stesi il mio manto sopra di te e copersi la tua nudità e ti feci un giuramento, e feci con te un patto — dice il Signore Dio — e tu fosti mia.
9 I bathed you in water, I washed the blood off you, I anointed you with oil.	9 Ed io ti lavai con acqua, ti purificai dal tuo sangue e ti unsi con olio.
10 I gave you embroidered dresses, fine leather shoes, a linen headband and a cloak of silk.	10 E ti vestii di abiti ricamati, ti diedi calzari di giacinto, cintura di bisso, ti coprii delle vesti più fine.
11 I loaded you with jewels, gave you bracelets for your wrists and a necklace for your throat.	11 E ti adornai di gioielli, misi i braccialetti alle tue mani e la collana al tuo collo,
12 I gave you nose-ring and earrings; I put a beautiful diadem on your head.	12 e misi sopra la tua bocca un anello, gli orecchini alle tue orecchie e una bella corona sopra la tua testa.
13 You were loaded with gold and silver and dressed in linen and silk and brocade. Your food was thefinest flour, honey and oil. You grew more and more beautiful; and you rose to be queen.	13 E tu fosti adorna d'oro e d'argento, vestita di bisso e di abiti ricamati a vari colori. Ti nutristi di fior di farina, di miele e di olio, e diventasti straordinariamente bella, e arrivasti a regnare.
14 The fame of your beauty spread through the nations, since it was perfect, because I had clothed youwith my own splendour -- declares the Lord Yahweh.	14 E il tuo nome si sparse tra le nazioni a motivo della tua bellezza, essendo tu perfetta per il mio splendore che avevo posto su te — dice il Signore Dio.
15 "But you became infatuated with your own beauty and used your fame to play the whore, lavishingyour debauchery on al comers.	15 E, superba di tua bellezza, ti servisti del tuo nome per fornicare e ti esponesti a fornicare con chiunque passasse per la strada in modo da diventare sua.
16 You took some of your clothes to make for yourself high places bright with colours and there youplayed the whore.	16 E prese le tue vesti te ne facesti degli abiti lunghi, cucendole da un lato e dall'altro, e sopra di essi ti prostituisti in un modo che non lù nè sarà mai.
17 You also took your jewel ery, made with my gold and silver which I had given you, and made yourselfmale images to serve your whorings.	17 E presi gli ornamenti della tua bellezza, fatti col mio oro e col mio argento, che ti avevo dati, ne facesti imagini
18 You took your embroidered clothes and used these to dress them up, and you offered them my oiland my incense.	18 E, presele vesti variopinte, le copristi e ponesti dinanzi ad esse il mio olio e il mio incenso.
19 And the bread I gave you, the finest flour, the oil and honey with which I fed you, you offered them asa pleasing smel . "What is more -- declares the Lord Yahweh-	19 E il mio pane che ti avevo donato, e il fior di farina, l'olio, il miele, coi quali ti avevo nutrita, li ponesti dinanzi ad esse, in odore soave: così fu — dico il Signore Dio.
20 you took the sons and daughters you had borne me and sacrificed them as food to the images. Wasnot your whoring enough in itself,	20 E prendesti i tuoi figli, le tue figlie che mi avevi generate, e le immolasti ad esse, facendole divorare. E' dunque piccola cosa la tua prostituzione?
21 for you to slaughter my children and hand them over to be burnt in their honour?	21 Hai immolati i miei figli, e dopo averli consacrati, li hai dati agli idoli.
22 And in al your loathsome practices and your whorings you never cal ed your early days to mind,when you were stark naked, kicking on the ground in your own blood.	22 E dopo tutte le tue abominazioni e fornicazioni non ti sei ricordata dei giorni della tua adolescenza, quando eri nuda, piena di vergogna, e calpestata nel tuo sangue.
23 "To crown your wickedness -- disaster upon you, disaster! declares the Lord Yahweh-	23 E dopo tante tue malvagità — guai, guai a te, dice il Signore —
24 you built yourself a mound and made yourself a high place in every open space.	24 ti sei fabbricati dei lupanari, hai alzati postriboli in tutte le piazze.
25 At the entry to every al ey you made yourself a high place, defiling your beauty and opening your legsto al comers in countless acts of fornication.	25 Àd ogni capo di strada hai posto il segno di tua prostituzione, hai resa abominevole la tua bellezza, ti sei data a chiunque passasse, ed hai moltiplicate le tue fornicazioni.
26 You have also fornicated with your big-membered neighbours, the Egyptians, provoking my angerwith further acts of fornication.	26 Ed hai fornicato coi figli dell'Egitto, vicini tuoi, di grossa corporatura, ed hai moltiplicate le tue fornicazioni per irritarmi.
27 So now I have raised my hand against you, I have cut down on your food, I have put you at themercy of your enemies, the Philistine women, who blush at your lewd behaviour.	27 Ecco io stenderò la mia mano sopra di te, e toglierò la tua giustificazione, e ti abbandonerò a chi ti odia, alle figlie della Palestina, che arrossiscano della tua vita scellerata.
28 Stil unsatisfied, you prostituted yourself to the Assyrians; you played the whore with them, but werenot satisfied even then.	28 E tu non ancora sazia, hai fornicato coi figli degli Assiri, ed anche dopo aver fornicato non sei sazia.
29 You committed further acts of fornication in the country of merchants, with the Chaldaeans, andthese did not satisfy you either.	29 Ed hai moltiplicate le tue fornicazioni nella terra di Canaan con i Caldei, e nemmeno così sei sazia.
30 "How simple-minded you are!-declares the Lord Yahweh -- for although you do all the things that aprofessional prostitute would,	30 Come potrò purificare il tuo cuore — dice il Signore Dio — quando fai tutte queste opere di donna meretrice e sfacciata?
31 in building a mound and making yourself a high place in every street, you do not act like a properprostitute because you disdain to take a fee.	31 Alzando il tuo postribolo al capo d'ogni via, facendo un alto luogo in Cigni piazza, non sei stata come una meretrice che fa la ritrosa per accrescere il prezzo,
32 An adulteress welcomes strangers instead of her husband.	32 ma come donna adultera che prende stranieri nel posto del suo marito.
33 Al prostitutes accept presents, but you give presents to all your lovers, you bribe them to come fromal over the place to fornicate with you!	33 A tutte le meretrici si dà la mercede, tu invece hai data la mercede ai tuoi amanti, hai dati loro dei doni, perchè da ogni parte venissero a fornicare con te.
34 In fornicating, you are the opposite of other women, since no one runs after you to fornicate with you;since you give the fee and do not get one, you are the very opposite!	34 E' avvenuto riguardo a te il contrario di quel che usan le donne, nelle tue fornicazioni e dopo di te non esisterà tale fornicazione, chè tu hai data la mercede senza riceverla: in te è avvenuto il rovescio.
35 "Very wel , whore, hear the word of Yahweh!	35 Per questo, o meretrice, ascolta la parola del Signore.
36 The Lord Yahweh says this: For having squandered your money and let yourself be seen nakedwhile whoring with your lovers and all the foul idols of your loathsome practices and for giving them yourchildren's blood-	36 Ecco quanto dice il Signore: Perchè hai gettato il tuo danaro e scoperta la tua nudità nelle fornicazioni coi tuoi amanti, coi tuoi idoli abominevoli, col sangue dei tuoi figli che hai dati ad essi,
37 for al this, I shal assemble all the lovers to whom you have given pleasure, al the ones you likedand also al the ones you disliked; yes, I shal assemble them round you and strip you naked in front of them,and let them see you naked from head to foot.	37 Teoco io radunerò tutti i tuoi amanti coi quali ti sei unita, e tutti quelli che hai amati con tutti quelli che hai odiati, li radunerò contro di te da tutte le parti, e scoprirò dinanzi ad essi la tua nudità, ed essi vedranno tutte le tue turpitudini.
38 I shal pass on you the sentence that adulteresses and murderesses receive; I shall hand you over totheir jealous fury;	38 E ti giudicherò come si giudica l'adultera e la sanguinaria, e ti abbandonerò alla strage del furore e della gelosia.
39 I shal hand you over to them; they wil destroy your mound and pul down your high place; they wiltear off your clothes, take away your jewels and leave you stark naked.	39 E ti darò nelle loro mani, e abbatteranno il tuo lupanare, e demoliranno il tuo postribolo, e ti spoglieranno delle tue vesti, e porteran via i tuoi ornamenti, e ti lasceranno nuda e piena d'ignominia.
40 Then they wil call an assembly of citizens to deal with you, who wil stone you to death and hack youto pieces with their swords,	40 E raduneranno contro di te la moltitudine e ti lapideranno (caricandoti) di pietre, e ti trucideranno colle loro spade.
41 and burn down your premises and execute justice on you, while many other women look on; and Ishall put an end to your whoring: no more paid lovers for you!	41 E daranno alle fiamme le tue case, ed eseguiranno i giudizi contro di te alla presenza di moltissime donne, e tu finirai di fornicare, e non darai più mercede.
42 Once my fury is exhausted with you, then my jealousy wil leave you; I shal be calm and not angryany more.	42 Ed avrà posa il mio sdegno contro di te, e da te s'allontanerà la mia gelosia, e starò quieto e non sarò più irritato.
43 Since you never cal ed to mind your early days and have done nothing but provoke me, now I in myturn shall bring your conduct down on your own head -- declares the Lord Yahweh! "Have you not added thislewd behaviour to your other loathsome practices?	43 perchè tu non ti sei ricordata dei giorni della tua adolescenza, e mi hai provocato con tutte queste cose, per questo io ho fatto ricadere sopra il tuo capo le tue opere — dice il Signore Dio — e non ti ho trattato secondo le tue scelleratezze e tutte le tue abominazioni.
44 So now al dealers in proverbs will apply this one to you: Like mother, like daughter.	44 Ecco che tutti quelli che dicono al volgo dei proverbi contro di te si serviran di quello che dice: « Quale la madre, tale la figlia di lei ».
45 Yes; you are a true daughter of your mother, who hated her husband and her children; you are a truesister of your sisters, who hated their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father anAmorite.	45 Tu sei proprio figlia di tua madre, che abbandonò il suo marito e i suoi figlioli, sei sorella delle tue sorelle, che abbandonarono i loro mariti e i loro figli: la vostra madre è Cetea, il vostro padre è l'Amorreo.
46 Your elder sister is Samaria, who lives to the north of you with her daughters. Your younger sister isSodom, who lives to the south of you with her daughters.	46 Tua sorella maggiore è Samaria con le sue figlie, che sono alla tua sinistra; la tua sorella minore, che sta alla tua destra, è Sodoma con le sue figlie.
47 You never failed to imitate their behaviour and copy their loathsome practices, and soon yourbehaviour was more corrupt than theirs was.	47 E tu non hai battute le loro strade, non hai agito secondo le loro scelleratezze, troppo poco; in tutta la tua condotta hai fatte cose quasi più scellerate delle loro.
48 As I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you andyour daughters have done.	48 Io vivo — dice il Signore Dio: — la tua stessa sorella, Sodoma, con le sue figlie, non ha fatto quello che hai fatto tu e le tue figlie.
49 The crime of your sister Sodom was pride, gluttony, calm complacency; such were hers and herdaughters' crimes. They never helped the poor and needy;	49 Ecco qual fu l'iniquità di Sodoma, tua sorella: la superbia, l'esser piena di cibo, l'abbondanza, l'ozio di lei e delle sue figlie, e non stendevano la mano all'indigente e al povero.
50 they were proud, and engaged in loathsome practices before me, and so I swept them away as youhave seen.	50 E s'inorgoglirono e fecero abominazioni davanti a me, ed io le spazzai via, come tu hai veduto.
51 And yet Samaria never committed half the crimes that you have. "You have done more loathsomethings than they have. By al your loathsome practices you have made your sisters seem innocent,	51 Ed anche Samaria non fece la metà dei tuoi peccati; tu le sorpassasti con le tue scelleratezze, e tu hai fatto apparir giuste le tue sorelle con tutte le tue abominazioni da te commesse.
52 and now you bear the shame of which you have freed your sisters; since the sins which you havecommitted are more revolting than theirs, they are more upright than you are. So now, bear the disgrace andshame of having put your sisters in the right.	52 Porta dunque la tua confusione anche tu che hai superate le tue sorelle coi tuoi peccati, ed hai fatto peggio di loro, in modo da renderle giuste a tuo paragone. Anche tu dunque vergognati e porta la tua ignominia, tu che hai fatto apparir giuste le tue sorelle.
53 "I shal restore their fortunes, I shal restore Sodom and her daughters, I shal re- store Samaria andher daughters, and then I shal restore your fortune with theirs,	53 Ma io farò ritornare al loro posto gli schiavi di Sodoma e delle sue figlie, gli schiavi di Samaria e delle sue figlie, e in mezzo a quelli di loro farò tornare i tuoi schiavi,
54 so that you can bear your shame and disgrace for al you have done, and so console them.	54 affinchè tu porti la tua ignominia e sii confusa per tutte quelle cose che hai fatte, e sii per loro di consolazione.
55 When your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, are restored to what they were, and Samaria and herdaughters are restored to what they were, then you too and your daughters wil be restored to what you were.	55 Così la tua sorella Sodoma e le sue figlie torneranno al loro antico stato, e Sa­maria e le sue figlie torneranno al loro antico stato, e tu e le tue figlie tornerete al vostro antico stato.
56 Did you not gloat over your sister Sodom when you were so proud,	56 La tua sorella Sodoma non fu sentita sulla tua bocca nel giorno del tuo orgoglio,
57 before you were stripped naked? Like her, you are now the laughing-stock of the women of Edom, ofal the women round, of the women of Philistia, who pour out their contempt on you.	57 prima che fosse scoperta la tua malizia come ora agli oltraggi delle figlie della Siria, e di tutte le figlie di Palestina che hai all'intorno e ti cingono da ogni lato.
58 You have brought this on yourself, with your lewdness and your loathsome practices -- declares theLord Yahweh.	58 Tu hai portato il tuo delitto e la tua ignominia — dice il Signore Dio.
59 "For the Lord Yahweh says this: I shal treat you as you have deserved for making light of an oathand breaking a covenant,	59 Infatti, così dice il Signore: Agirò con te come tu hai agito, disprezzando il giuramento e rendendo vano il patto.
60 but I shal remember my covenant with you when you were a girl and shal conclude a covenant withyou that wil last for ever.	60 Ma io mi ricorderò del mio patto, che feci teco nei giorni della tua adolescenza, e stabilirò con te un patto sempiterno.
61 And you for your part wil remember your behaviour and feel ashamed of it when you receive yourelder and younger sisters and I make them your daughters, although this is not included in my covenant withyou.	61 E ti ricorderai della tua condotta o ti vergognerai quando tu riceverai teco le tue sorelle maggiori di te con quelle di te minori, ed io te le darò come figliole, ma non in virtù del tuo patto.
62 I shal renew my covenant with you; and you wil know that I am Yahweh,	62 E io stabilirò con te il mio patto e tu saprai che io sono il Signore,
63 and so remember and feel ashamed and in your confusion be reduced to silence, when I forgive youfor everything you have done -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '	63 e, ricordando, arrossirai e non avrai l'ardire di aprire la bocca dalla vergogna, quando io ti avrò perdonato tutto quello che hai fatto — dice il Signore Dio ».
