NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	1 La palabra de Yahveh me fue dirigida en estos términos:
2 'Son of man, confront Jerusalem with her loathsome practices!	2 Hijo de hombre, haz saber a Jerusalén sus abominaciones.
3 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: By origin and birth you belong to the land of Canaan. Your fatherwas an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.	3 Dirás: Así dice el Señor Yahveh a Jerusalén: Por tu origen y tu nacimiento eres del país de Canaán. Tu padre era amorreo y tu madre hitita.
4 At birth, the very day you were born, there was no one to cut your navel-string, or wash you in water toclean you, or rub you with salt, or wrap you in swaddling clothes.	4 Cuando naciste, el día en que viniste al mundo, no se te cortó el cordón, no se te lavó con agua para limpiarte, no se te frotó con sal, ni se te envolvió en pañales.
5 No one looked at you with pity enough to do any of these things out of sympathy for you. You wereexposed in the open fields in your own dirt on the day you were born.	5 Ningún ojo se apiadó de ti para brindarte alguno de estos menesteres, por compasión a ti. Quedaste expuesta en pleno campo, porque dabas repugnancia, el día en que viniste al mundo.
6 "I saw you kicking on the ground in your blood as I was passing, and I said to you as you lay in yourblood: Live!	6 Yo pasé junto a ti y te vi agitándote en tu sangre. Y te dije, cuando estabas en tu sangre: «Vive»,
7 and I made you grow like the grass of the fields. You developed, you grew, you reached marriageableage. Your breasts became firm and your hair grew richly, but you were stark naked.	7 y te hice crecer como la hierba de los campos. Tú creciste, te desarrollaste, y llegaste a la edad núbil. Se formaron tus senos, tu cabellera creció; pero estabas completamente desnuda.
8 Then I saw you as I was passing. Your time had come, the time for love. I spread my cloak over youand covered your nakedness; I gave you my oath, I made a covenant with you -- declares the Lord Yahweh --and you became mine.	8 Entonces pasé yo junto a ti y te vi. Era tu tiempo, el tiempo de los amores. Extendí sobre ti el borde de mi manto y cubrí tu desnudez; me comprometí con juramento, hice alianza contigo - oráculo del señor Yahveh - y tú fuiste mía.
9 I bathed you in water, I washed the blood off you, I anointed you with oil.	9 Te bañé con agua, lavé la sangre que te cubría, te ungí con óleo.
10 I gave you embroidered dresses, fine leather shoes, a linen headband and a cloak of silk.	10 Te puse vestidos recamados, zapatos de cuero fino, una banda de lino fino y un manto de seda.
11 I loaded you with jewels, gave you bracelets for your wrists and a necklace for your throat.	11 Te adorné con joyas, puse brazaletes en tus muñecas y un collar a tu cuello.
12 I gave you nose-ring and earrings; I put a beautiful diadem on your head.	12 Puse un anillo en tu nariz, pendientes en tus orejas, y una espléndida diadema en tu cabeza.
13 You were loaded with gold and silver and dressed in linen and silk and brocade. Your food was thefinest flour, honey and oil. You grew more and more beautiful; and you rose to be queen.	13 Brillabas así de oro y plata, vestida de lino fino, de seda y recamados. Flor de harina, miel y aceite era tu alimento. Te hiciste cada día más hermosa, y llegaste al esplendor de una reina.
14 The fame of your beauty spread through the nations, since it was perfect, because I had clothed youwith my own splendour -- declares the Lord Yahweh.	14 Tu nombre se difundió entre las naciones, debido a tu belleza, que era perfecta, gracias al esplendor de que yo te había revestido - oráculo del Señor Yahveh.
15 "But you became infatuated with your own beauty and used your fame to play the whore, lavishingyour debauchery on al comers.	15 Pero tú te pagaste de tu belleza, te aprovechaste de tu fama para prostituirte, prodigaste tu lascivia a todo transeúnte entregándote a él.
16 You took some of your clothes to make for yourself high places bright with colours and there youplayed the whore.	16 Tomaste tus vestidos para hacerte altos de ricos colores y te prostituiste en ellos.
17 You also took your jewel ery, made with my gold and silver which I had given you, and made yourselfmale images to serve your whorings.	17 Tomaste tus joyas de oro y plata que yo te había dado y te hiciste imágenes de hombres para prostituirte ante ellas.
18 You took your embroidered clothes and used these to dress them up, and you offered them my oiland my incense.	18 Tomaste tus vestidos recamados y las recubriste con ellos; y pusiste ante ellas mi aceite y mi incienso.
19 And the bread I gave you, the finest flour, the oil and honey with which I fed you, you offered them asa pleasing smel . "What is more -- declares the Lord Yahweh-	19 El pan que yo te había dado, la flor de harina, el aceite y la miel con que yo te alimentaba, lo presentaste ante ellas como calmante aroma. Y sucedió incluso - oráculo del Señor Yahveh -
20 you took the sons and daughters you had borne me and sacrificed them as food to the images. Wasnot your whoring enough in itself,	20 que tomaste a tus hijos y a tus hijas que me habías dado a luz y se los sacrificaste como alimento. ¿Acaso no era suficiente tu prostitución,
21 for you to slaughter my children and hand them over to be burnt in their honour?	21 que inmolaste también a mis hijos y los entregaste haciéndoles pasar por el fuego en su honor?
22 And in al your loathsome practices and your whorings you never cal ed your early days to mind,when you were stark naked, kicking on the ground in your own blood.	22 Y en medio de todas tus abominaciones y tus prostituciones no te acordaste de los días de tu juventud, cuando estabas completamente desnuda, agitándote en tu sangre.
23 "To crown your wickedness -- disaster upon you, disaster! declares the Lord Yahweh-	23 Y para colmo de maldad - ¡ay, ay de ti!, oráculo del Señor Yahveh -
24 you built yourself a mound and made yourself a high place in every open space.	24 te construiste un prostíbulo, te hiciste una altura en todas las plazas.
25 At the entry to every al ey you made yourself a high place, defiling your beauty and opening your legsto al comers in countless acts of fornication.	25 En la cabecera de todo camino te construiste tu altura y allí contaminaste tu hermosura, entregaste tu cuerpo a todo transeúnte y multiplicaste tus prostituciones.
26 You have also fornicated with your big-membered neighbours, the Egyptians, provoking my angerwith further acts of fornication.	26 Te prostituiste a los egipcios, tus vecinos, de cuerpos fornidos, y multiplicaste tus prostituciones para irritarme.
27 So now I have raised my hand against you, I have cut down on your food, I have put you at themercy of your enemies, the Philistine women, who blush at your lewd behaviour.	27 Entonces yo levanté mi mano contra ti. Disminuí tu ración y te entregué a la animosidad de tus enemigas, las hijas de los filisteos, que se avergonzaban de la infamia de tu conducta.
28 Stil unsatisfied, you prostituted yourself to the Assyrians; you played the whore with them, but werenot satisfied even then.	28 Y no harta todavía, te prostituiste a los asirios; te prostituiste sin hartarte tampoco.
29 You committed further acts of fornication in the country of merchants, with the Chaldaeans, andthese did not satisfy you either.	29 Luego, multiplicaste tus prostituciones en el país de los mercaderes, en Caldea, y tampoco esta vez quedaste harta.
30 "How simple-minded you are!-declares the Lord Yahweh -- for although you do all the things that aprofessional prostitute would,	30 ¡Oh, qué débil era tu corazón - oráculo del Señor Yahveh - para cometer todas estas acciones, dignas de una prostituta descarada!
31 in building a mound and making yourself a high place in every street, you do not act like a properprostitute because you disdain to take a fee.	31 Cuando te contruías un prostíbulo a la cabecera de todo camino, cuando te hacías una altura en todas las plazas, despreciando el salario, no eras como la prostituta.
32 An adulteress welcomes strangers instead of her husband.	32 La mujer adúltera, en lugar de su marido, toma ajenos.
33 Al prostitutes accept presents, but you give presents to all your lovers, you bribe them to come fromal over the place to fornicate with you!	33 A toda prostituta se le da un regalo. Tú, en cambio, dabas regalos a todos tus amantes, y los atraías con mercedes para que vinieron a ti de los alrededores y se prestasen a tus prostituciones.
34 In fornicating, you are the opposite of other women, since no one runs after you to fornicate with you;since you give the fee and do not get one, you are the very opposite!	34 Contigo ha pasado en tus prostituciones al revés que con las otras mujeres; nadie andaba solicitando detrás de ti; eras tú la que pagabas, y no se te pagaba: ¡ha sido al revés!
35 "Very wel , whore, hear the word of Yahweh!	35 Pues bien, prostituta, escucha la palabra de Yahveh.
36 The Lord Yahweh says this: For having squandered your money and let yourself be seen nakedwhile whoring with your lovers and all the foul idols of your loathsome practices and for giving them yourchildren's blood-	36 Así dice el Señor Yahveh: Por haber prodigado tu bronce y descubierto tu desnudez en tus prostituciones con tus amantes y con todas tus abominables basuras, por la sangre de tus hijos que les has dado,
37 for al this, I shal assemble all the lovers to whom you have given pleasure, al the ones you likedand also al the ones you disliked; yes, I shal assemble them round you and strip you naked in front of them,and let them see you naked from head to foot.	37 por esto he aquí que yo voy a reunir a todos los amantes a quienes complaciste, a todos los que amaste y también a los que aborreciste; los voy a congregar de todas partes contra ti, y descubriré tu desnudez delante de ellos, para que vean toda tu desnudez.
38 I shal pass on you the sentence that adulteresses and murderesses receive; I shall hand you over totheir jealous fury;	38 Voy a aplicarte el castigo de las mujeres adúlteras y de las que derraman sangre: te entregaré al furor y a los celos,
39 I shal hand you over to them; they wil destroy your mound and pul down your high place; they wiltear off your clothes, take away your jewels and leave you stark naked.	39 te entregaré en sus manos, ellos arrasarán tu prostíbulo y demolerán tus alturas, te despojarán de tus vestidos, te arrancarán tus joyas y te dejarán completamente desnuda.
40 Then they wil call an assembly of citizens to deal with you, who wil stone you to death and hack youto pieces with their swords,	40 Luego, incitarán a la multitud contra ti, te lapidarán, te acribillarán con sus espadas,
41 and burn down your premises and execute justice on you, while many other women look on; and Ishall put an end to your whoring: no more paid lovers for you!	41 prenderán fuego a tus casas y harán justicia de ti, a la vista de una multitud de mujeres; yo pondré fin a tus prostituciones, y no volverás a dar salario de prostituta.
42 Once my fury is exhausted with you, then my jealousy wil leave you; I shal be calm and not angryany more.	42 Desahogaré mi furor en ti; luego mis celos se retirarán de ti, me apaciguaré y no me airaré más.
43 Since you never cal ed to mind your early days and have done nothing but provoke me, now I in myturn shall bring your conduct down on your own head -- declares the Lord Yahweh! "Have you not added thislewd behaviour to your other loathsome practices?	43 Porque no te has acordado de los días de tu juventud, y con todas estas cosas me has provocado, he aquí que también yo por mi parte haré recaer tu conducta sobre tu cabeza, oráculo del Señor Yahveh. Pues ¿no has cometido infamia con todas tus abominaciones?
44 So now al dealers in proverbs will apply this one to you: Like mother, like daughter.	44 Mira, todos los autores de proverbios harán uno a propósito de ti, diciendo: «Cual la madre, tal la hija».
45 Yes; you are a true daughter of your mother, who hated her husband and her children; you are a truesister of your sisters, who hated their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father anAmorite.	45 Hija eres, sí, de tu madre, que dejó de amar a sus maridos y a sus hijos, y hermana de tus hermanas, que dejaron de amar a sus maridos y a sus hijos. Vuestra madre era una hitita y vuestro padre un amorreo.
46 Your elder sister is Samaria, who lives to the north of you with her daughters. Your younger sister isSodom, who lives to the south of you with her daughters.	46 Tu hermana mayor es Samaria, que habita a tu izquierda con sus hijas. Tu hermana menor es Sodoma, que habita a tu derecha con sus hijas.
47 You never failed to imitate their behaviour and copy their loathsome practices, and soon yourbehaviour was more corrupt than theirs was.	47 No has sido parca en imitar su conducta y en cometer sus abominaciones; te has mostrado más corrompida que ellas en toda tu conducta.
48 As I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you andyour daughters have done.	48 Por mi vida, oráculo del Señor Yahveh, que tu hermana Sodoma y sus hijas no obraron como habéis obrado vosotras, tú y tus hijas.
49 The crime of your sister Sodom was pride, gluttony, calm complacency; such were hers and herdaughters' crimes. They never helped the poor and needy;	49 Este fue el crimen de tu hermana Sodoma: orgullo, voracidad, indolencia de la dulce vida tuvieron ella y sus hijas; no socorrieron al pobre y al indigente,
50 they were proud, and engaged in loathsome practices before me, and so I swept them away as youhave seen.	50 se enorgullecieron y cometieron abominaciones ante mí: por eso las hice desaparecer, como tú viste.
51 And yet Samaria never committed half the crimes that you have. "You have done more loathsomethings than they have. By al your loathsome practices you have made your sisters seem innocent,	51 En cuanto a Samaria, ni la mitad de tus pecados ha cometido. Tú has cometido muchas más abominaciones que ellas y, al cometer tantas abominaciones, has hecho parecer justas a tus hermanas.
52 and now you bear the shame of which you have freed your sisters; since the sins which you havecommitted are more revolting than theirs, they are more upright than you are. So now, bear the disgrace andshame of having put your sisters in the right.	52 Así, pues, carga con tu ignominia por haber decidido el fallo en favor de tus hermanas: a causa de los pecados que has cometido, mucho más abominables que los suyos, ellas resultan ser más justas que tú. Avergüénzate, pues, y carga con tu ignominia por hacer parecer justas a tus hermanas.
53 "I shal restore their fortunes, I shal restore Sodom and her daughters, I shal re- store Samaria andher daughters, and then I shal restore your fortune with theirs,	53 Yo las restableceré. Restableceré a Sodoma y a sus hijas, restableceré a Samaria y a sus hijas, y después te restableceré a ti en medio de ella,
54 so that you can bear your shame and disgrace for al you have done, and so console them.	54 a fin de que soportes tu ignominia y te avergüences de todo lo que has hecho, para consuelo de ellas.
55 When your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, are restored to what they were, and Samaria and herdaughters are restored to what they were, then you too and your daughters wil be restored to what you were.	55 Tu hermana Sodoma y sus hijas serán restablecidas en su antiguo estado. Samaria y sus hijas serán restablecidas en su antiguo estado. Tú y tus hijas seréis restablecidas también en vuestro antiguo estado.
56 Did you not gloat over your sister Sodom when you were so proud,	56 ¿No hiciste burla de tu hermana Sodoma, el día de tu orgullo,
57 before you were stripped naked? Like her, you are now the laughing-stock of the women of Edom, ofal the women round, of the women of Philistia, who pour out their contempt on you.	57 antes que fuese puesta al descubierto tu desnudez? Como ella, eres tú ahora el blanco de las burlas de las hijas de Edom y de todas las de los alrededores, de las hijas de los filisteos, que por todas partes te agobian a desprecios.
58 You have brought this on yourself, with your lewdness and your loathsome practices -- declares theLord Yahweh.	58 Tú misma soportas las consecuencias de tu infamia y tus abominaciones, oráculo de Yahveh.
59 "For the Lord Yahweh says this: I shal treat you as you have deserved for making light of an oathand breaking a covenant,	59 Pues así dice el Señor Yahveh: Yo haré contigo como has hecho tú, que menospreciaste el juramento, rompiendo la alianza.
60 but I shal remember my covenant with you when you were a girl and shal conclude a covenant withyou that wil last for ever.	60 Pero yo me acordaré de mi alianza contigo en los días de tu juventud, y estableceré en tu favor una alianza eterna.
61 And you for your part wil remember your behaviour and feel ashamed of it when you receive yourelder and younger sisters and I make them your daughters, although this is not included in my covenant withyou.	61 Y tú te acordarás de tu conducta y te avergonzarás de ella, cuando acojas a tus hermanas, las mayores y las menores, y yo te las dé como hijas, si bien no en virtud de tu alianza.
62 I shal renew my covenant with you; and you wil know that I am Yahweh,	62 Yo mismo restableceré mi alianza contigo, y sabrás que yo soy Yahveh,
63 and so remember and feel ashamed and in your confusion be reduced to silence, when I forgive youfor everything you have done -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '	63 para que te acuerdes y te avergüences y no oses más abrir la boca de vergüenza, cuando yo te haya perdonado todo lo que has hecho, oráculo del Señor Yahveh.
