1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	1 E IL Signore parlommi, e disse:
2 'Son of man, confront Jerusalem with her loathsome practices!	2 Figliuolo dell'uomo, fa tu sapere a Gerusalemme le sue abbominazioni,
3 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: By origin and birth you belong to the land of Canaan. Your fatherwas an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.	3 E dirai: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio di Gerusalemme: La tua stirpe, e la tua origine è dalla terra di Chanaan. Tuo padre Amoneo, e Ja tua madre Cetea.
4 At birth, the very day you were born, there was no one to cut your navel-string, or wash you in water toclean you, or rub you with salt, or wrap you in swaddling clothes.	4 E allorché tu venisti alla luce, il dì della tua nascita non ti fu tagliato l'ombellico, né fosti lavata con acqua salutare, né aspersa di sale, né involta in fasce.
5 No one looked at you with pity enough to do any of these things out of sympathy for you. You wereexposed in the open fields in your own dirt on the day you were born.	5 Né occhio d'uomo s'impietosì per te, onde alcuna di queste cose per compassione facesse a te, ma fosti gettata sul suolo con ispregio della tua vita il giorno, che tu nascesti.
6 "I saw you kicking on the ground in your blood as I was passing, and I said to you as you lay in yourblood: Live!	6 Ma passando io vicino a te, ti vidi, imbrattata del proprio tuo sangue; ed io dissi a te quando nel tuo sangue eri involta, Vivi, ti dissi, o tu immersa nel sangue tuo, vivi.
7 and I made you grow like the grass of the fields. You developed, you grew, you reached marriageableage. Your breasts became firm and your hair grew richly, but you were stark naked.	7 Ti feci crescere come l'erba del campo, e crescesti, e ingrandisti, e avanzasti (negli anni), e giungesti al tempo degli abbigliamenti donneschi al tempo di pubertà, ma tu eri ignuda, e piena di confusione.
8 Then I saw you as I was passing. Your time had come, the time for love. I spread my cloak over youand covered your nakedness; I gave you my oath, I made a covenant with you -- declares the Lord Yahweh --and you became mine.	8 E passai vicino a te, e ti vidi, e quel tuo tempo, era il tempo degli amanti, ed io distesi sopra di te il mio pallio, e copersi la tua ignominia: e feci a te giuramento, ed un patto feci con te (dice il Signore Dio) e tu fosti
9 I bathed you in water, I washed the blood off you, I anointed you with oil.	9 E ti lavai con acqua, e ti nettai dal tuo sangue, e ti unsi con olio.
10 I gave you embroidered dresses, fine leather shoes, a linen headband and a cloak of silk.	10 E ti rivestii di abiti ricamati, e ti diedi calzari di color di giacinto, e cintura di bisso, e ti addobbai di finissimo manto.
11 I loaded you with jewels, gave you bracelets for your wrists and a necklace for your throat.	11 E ti adornai con magnificenza, e misi i braccialetti alle tue mani, e collana al tuo collo.
12 I gave you nose-ring and earrings; I put a beautiful diadem on your head.	12 E ornai la tua faccia di pendenti, e le orecchie cogli orecchini, e la tua testa colla corona.
13 You were loaded with gold and silver and dressed in linen and silk and brocade. Your food was thefinest flour, honey and oil. You grew more and more beautiful; and you rose to be queen.	13 E tu fosti abbellita d'oro, e d'argento, e vestita di bisso, e di abiti ricamati a molti colori: Ti fu dato a mangiare del fior di farina, il miele, e l'olio, e diventasti bella grandemente oltre modo, e arrivasti a regnare
14 The fame of your beauty spread through the nations, since it was perfect, because I had clothed youwith my own splendour -- declares the Lord Yahweh.	14 E il tuo nome si sparse tralle nazioni a motivo di tua bellezza, perchè tu eri perfetta nella bellezza, che io stesso avea posta in te, dice il Signore Dio.
15 "But you became infatuated with your own beauty and used your fame to play the whore, lavishingyour debauchery on al comers.	15 E superba di tua bellezza, ti disonorasti quasi padrona di te, ed esponesti la tua disonestà ad ogni passaggiero per darti a lui.
16 You took some of your clothes to make for yourself high places bright with colours and there youplayed the whore.	16 E prese le tue vestimenta, ne lavorasti ornamenti pe' luoghi eccelsi, dove tu talmente peccasti, che cosa simile mai non fu, né sarà.
17 You also took your jewel ery, made with my gold and silver which I had given you, and made yourselfmale images to serve your whorings.	17 E presi gli ornamenti di tua gloria fatti col mio oro, e col mio argento, i quali avev' io dati a te, ne facesti immagini d'uomini, e con questi hai peccato.
18 You took your embroidered clothes and used these to dress them up, and you offered them my oiland my incense.	18 E le tue vestimenta a molti colori impiegasti a coprire le immagini, e il mio olio, e il mio timiama ponesti davanti ad esse.
19 And the bread I gave you, the finest flour, the oil and honey with which I fed you, you offered them asa pleasing smel . "What is more -- declares the Lord Yahweh-	19 E il mio pane, che io diedi a te, e il fior di farina, e l'olio, e il miele, ond'io ti nutriva, lo presentasti al loro cospetto in obblazione di odor soave: e cosi fu, dice il Signore Dio.
20 you took the sons and daughters you had borne me and sacrificed them as food to the images. Wasnot your whoring enough in itself,	20 E prendesti i tuoi figli, e le tue figliuole, che tu avevi a me generate, e le immolasti ad essi, perchè il fuoco le divorasse. E ella leggera cosa la tua fornicazione!
21 for you to slaughter my children and hand them over to be burnt in their honour?	21 Immolasti i miei figli, e gli do nasti agl' idoli, a' quali li consagrasti.
22 And in al your loathsome practices and your whorings you never cal ed your early days to mind,when you were stark naked, kicking on the ground in your own blood.	22 E dopo tutte le abbominazioni, e fornicazioni tue non ti se' ricordata de' giorni di tua adolescenza, quando eri ignuda, e piena di confusione, e involta nel sangue tuo.
23 "To crown your wickedness -- disaster upon you, disaster! declares the Lord Yahweh-	23 E avvenne, che dopo tanta tua malvagità (guai, guai a te, dice il Signore Dio)
24 you built yourself a mound and made yourself a high place in every open space.	24 Ti fabbricasti dei lupanari, e alzasti postriboli in tutte le piazze.
25 At the entry to every al ey you made yourself a high place, defiling your beauty and opening your legsto al comers in countless acts of fornication.	25 Ad ogni capo di strada tu ponesti il segno di tua prostituzione, e abbominabile rendesti la tua beltà, e ti abbandonasti a qualunque passaggiero, e moltiplicasti le tue fornicazioni.
26 You have also fornicated with your big-membered neighbours, the Egyptians, provoking my angerwith further acts of fornication.	26 E co' figli dell'Egitto peccasti, vicini tuoi di grosse membra, e aggiungesti fornicazione a fornicazione per irritarmi.
27 So now I have raised my hand against you, I have cut down on your food, I have put you at themercy of your enemies, the Philistine women, who blush at your lewd behaviour.	27 Ecco che io stenderò la mia mano sopra di te, e toglierò a te le cose tue sante, e ti abbandonerò al volere delle figlie della Palestina, le quali ti odiano, ed han rossore del tuo vivere scellerato.
28 Stil unsatisfied, you prostituted yourself to the Assyrians; you played the whore with them, but werenot satisfied even then.	28 Ma tu, non essendo ancor sazia, hai peccato co' figli degli Assirj; e neppur dopo tali fornicazioni se' stata contenta.
29 You committed further acts of fornication in the country of merchants, with the Chaldaeans, andthese did not satisfy you either.	29 E moltiplicasti le tue fornicazioni nella terra di Chanaan con i Caldei, e neppur con questo se' stata sazia.
30 "How simple-minded you are!-declares the Lord Yahweh -- for although you do all the things that aprofessional prostitute would,	30 In qual modo purificherò io il tuo cuore, dice il Signore Dio, mentre queste opre tutte tu fai proprie di donna peccatrice, e sfacciata?
31 in building a mound and making yourself a high place in every street, you do not act like a properprostitute because you disdain to take a fee.	31 Perocché tu edificasti i tuoi postriboli a tutti i capi di strade, e in ogni piazza ti facesti un luogo eccelso, ne se stata come una meretrice, la quale colla schifiltà si fa accrescere il prezzo,
32 An adulteress welcomes strangers instead of her husband.	32 Ma come una adultera, che invece del proprio marito adesca stranieri.
33 Al prostitutes accept presents, but you give presents to all your lovers, you bribe them to come fromal over the place to fornicate with you!	33 Alle altre meretrici si dà mercede, ma tu l'hai data a tutti i tuoi amatori, e facevi loro dei donativi, perchè da ogni parte a te venissero, per teco peccare.
34 In fornicating, you are the opposite of other women, since no one runs after you to fornicate with you;since you give the fee and do not get one, you are the very opposite!	34 Ed è avvenuto in te il contrario di quel, che costumasi colle donne di mala vita, e non sarà dopo di te simil fornicazione; perocché nell'aver tu dato mercede, e nel non aver ricevuta mercede, è avvenuto in te il rovescio.
35 "Very wel , whore, hear the word of Yahweh!	35 Per questo, o donna peccatrice, ascolta la parola del Signore.
36 The Lord Yahweh says this: For having squandered your money and let yourself be seen nakedwhile whoring with your lovers and all the foul idols of your loathsome practices and for giving them yourchildren's blood-	36 Queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Perchè tu hai gittato il tuo denaro, ed hai renduta pubblica la tua ignominia nelle tue fornicazioni co' tuoi amatori; e nelle abbominazioni de' tuoi simulacri colla strage de' tuoi figliuoli, che ad essi offeristi;
37 for al this, I shal assemble all the lovers to whom you have given pleasure, al the ones you likedand also al the ones you disliked; yes, I shal assemble them round you and strip you naked in front of them,and let them see you naked from head to foot.	37 Ecco che io ragunerò tutti i tuoi amatori, co' quali, hai peccato, e tutti quelli, che tu amavi, e tutti quelli, che tu avevi in odio, e li ragunerò contro di te da tutte parti, ed avanti ad essi manifesterò la tua ignominia, ed ei vedranno tutte le tue turpitudini.
38 I shal pass on you the sentence that adulteresses and murderesses receive; I shall hand you over totheir jealous fury;	38 E farò giudizio di te come di adultera, e come di sanguinaria; e ti punirò con vendetta di furore, e di gelosia.
39 I shal hand you over to them; they wil destroy your mound and pul down your high place; they wiltear off your clothes, take away your jewels and leave you stark naked.	39 E ti darò in balia di coloro, ed ei distruggeranno il tuo lupanare, e rumeranno il tuo postribolo, e ti spoglieranno delle tue vestimenta, e porteranno via tutto quello, onde tu eri bella, e ti lasceranno ignuda, e piena d'ignominia:
40 Then they wil call an assembly of citizens to deal with you, who wil stone you to death and hack youto pieces with their swords,	40 E rauneran contro di te la moltitudine, e ti lapideranno senza pietà, e ti trafiggeranno colle loro spade.
41 and burn down your premises and execute justice on you, while many other women look on; and Ishall put an end to your whoring: no more paid lovers for you!	41 E le tue case daranno alle fiamme, e faran giudizio di te alla presenza di moltissime donne, e tu finirai di fornicare, e non pagherai più mercede.
42 Once my fury is exhausted with you, then my jealousy wil leave you; I shal be calm and not angryany more.	42 E avrà posa l'indegnazione mia verso di te, e la gelosia, che io aveva per te, passerà, e starò in quiete, nel più mi adirerò.
43 Since you never cal ed to mind your early days and have done nothing but provoke me, now I in myturn shall bring your conduct down on your own head -- declares the Lord Yahweh! "Have you not added thislewd behaviour to your other loathsome practices?	43 Perchè tu non ti se' ricordata de' giorni di tua adolescenza, e con queste cose tutte mi hai provocato; per questo io pure sul tuo capo ho fatto cader le opre tue, dice il Signore Dio, e non ti ho trattata secondo le tue scelleratezze nel tempo di tutte le tue abbominazioni.
44 So now al dealers in proverbs will apply this one to you: Like mother, like daughter.	44 Ecco che chiunque ama i proverbi, ripeterà questo sopra di te, dicendo: Quale la madre, tale la figlia di lei.
45 Yes; you are a true daughter of your mother, who hated her husband and her children; you are a truesister of your sisters, who hated their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father anAmorite.	45 Veramente se' tu figlia di tua madre, che abbandonò il suo marito, e i suoi figliuoli; e sorella se' tu delle tue sorelle, che rigettarono i lor mariti, e i loro figli: la madre vostra Cetea, e il padre vostro Amorreo.
46 Your elder sister is Samaria, who lives to the north of you with her daughters. Your younger sister isSodom, who lives to the south of you with her daughters.	46 E tua sorella maggiore ell'è Samaria, e le figlie di lei, che abitano alla tua sinistra: e la tua minor sorella, che abita alla tua destra, ell'è Sodoma, e le figliuole di lei.
47 You never failed to imitate their behaviour and copy their loathsome practices, and soon yourbehaviour was more corrupt than theirs was.	47 Ma né tu ti tenesti un po' indietro nel battere le loro vie, e nell'imitare le loro scelleratezze: quasi più scellerate cose facesti, che quelle in tutti i tuoi andamenti.
48 As I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you andyour daughters have done.	48 Io giuro, dice il Signore Dio, che non fece Sodoma tua sorella, ella, e le figlie di lei quel che hai fatto tu, e le tue figliuole.
49 The crime of your sister Sodom was pride, gluttony, calm complacency; such were hers and herdaughters' crimes. They never helped the poor and needy;	49 Ecco qual fu l'iniquità di Sodoma tua sorella; la superbia, e i bagordi, e il lusso, e l'oziosità di lei, e delle sue figlie: e al povero, ed al bisognoso non istendevan la mano.
50 they were proud, and engaged in loathsome practices before me, and so I swept them away as youhave seen.	50 E si levaron in arroganza, e fecero abbominazioni dinanzi a me, ed io le annichilai come tu vedesti.
51 And yet Samaria never committed half the crimes that you have. "You have done more loathsomethings than they have. By al your loathsome practices you have made your sisters seem innocent,	51 E Samaria non fece la metà de' peccati, che facesti tu: e tu le sorpassasti colle tue scelleraggini, e facesti apparir giuste le tue sorelle con tutte quelle abbominazioni, che tu commettesti.
52 and now you bear the shame of which you have freed your sisters; since the sins which you havecommitted are more revolting than theirs, they are more upright than you are. So now, bear the disgrace andshame of having put your sisters in the right.	52 Porta adunque la tua confusione anche tu, che hai nel peccar superate le tue sorelle, facendo peggio di loro; perocché a paragone dite elle son giuste. Anche tu adunque confonditi, e porta la tua ignominia, tu che giuste apparir facesti le tue sorelle.
53 "I shal restore their fortunes, I shal restore Sodom and her daughters, I shal re- store Samaria andher daughters, and then I shal restore your fortune with theirs,	53 Ma io le ristorerò, tornando in libertà Sodoma, e le sue figlie, e tornando in libertà Samaria, e le sue figlie, e i tuoi figli condotti in ischiavitù farò tornare insieme con esse,
54 so that you can bear your shame and disgrace for al you have done, and so console them.	54 Affinchè tu porti la tua ignominia, e ti confonda di tutto quello, che hai fatto, e sii di consolazione per esse,
55 When your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, are restored to what they were, and Samaria and herdaughters are restored to what they were, then you too and your daughters wil be restored to what you were.	55 E la sorella tua Sodoma, e le sue figlie torneranno al loro antico stato, e Samaria, e le sue figlie torneranno all'antico stato, e tu, e le tue figlie tornerete allo stato antico.
56 Did you not gloat over your sister Sodom when you were so proud,	56 Nel tempo del tuo fasto non si udì mai ricordata da te la sorella tua Sodoma,
57 before you were stripped naked? Like her, you are now the laughing-stock of the women of Edom, ofal the women round, of the women of Philistia, who pour out their contempt on you.	57 Prima che fosse scoperta la tua malizia, com' ell' è adesso, e tu fossi lo scherno delle figlie di Siria, e di tutte quante le figlie di Palestina, che hai all'intorno, e ti cingono d'ogni lato:
58 You have brought this on yourself, with your lewdness and your loathsome practices -- declares theLord Yahweh.	58 Tu hai portata la tua scelleratezza, e la tua ignominia, dice il Signore Dio.
59 "For the Lord Yahweh says this: I shal treat you as you have deserved for making light of an oathand breaking a covenant,	59 Perocché queste cose dice il Signore Dio: Io farò (così) a te, come tu hai disprezzato il giuramento, per vano rendere il patto:
60 but I shal remember my covenant with you when you were a girl and shal conclude a covenant withyou that wil last for ever.	60 Ma io mi ricorderò del patto, che feci teco ne' giorni di tua adolescenza, e ravviverò con te il patto sempiterno.
61 And you for your part wil remember your behaviour and feel ashamed of it when you receive yourelder and younger sisters and I make them your daughters, although this is not included in my covenant withyou.	61 E ti ricorderai de' tuoi disordini, e ne avrai confusione, quando tu riceverai teco le tue sorelle maggiori di te insieme colle minori, ed io darolle a te in luogo di figlie, ma non in virtù del tuo patto.
62 I shal renew my covenant with you; and you wil know that I am Yahweh,	62 E io ravviverò con te il mio patto, e conoscerai ch'io sono il Signore,
63 and so remember and feel ashamed and in your confusion be reduced to silence, when I forgive youfor everything you have done -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '	63 Affinchè ti ricordi, ed abbi confusione, e non ardisca di aprir bocca pella vergogna, allora quando io mi sarò placato con te dopo tutte le cose, che tu facesti, dice il Signore Dio.
