NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	1 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore:
2 'Son of man, confront Jerusalem with her loathsome practices!	2 «Figlio dell’uomo, fa’ conoscere a Gerusalemme tutti i suoi abomini.
3 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: By origin and birth you belong to the land of Canaan. Your fatherwas an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.	3 Dirai loro: Così dice il Signore Dio a Gerusalemme: Tu sei, per origine e nascita, del paese dei Cananei; tuo padre era un Amorreo e tua madre un’Ittita.
4 At birth, the very day you were born, there was no one to cut your navel-string, or wash you in water toclean you, or rub you with salt, or wrap you in swaddling clothes.	4 Alla tua nascita, quando fosti partorita, non ti fu tagliato il cordone ombelicale e non fosti lavata con l’acqua per purificarti; non ti fecero le frizioni di sale né fosti avvolta in fasce.
5 No one looked at you with pity enough to do any of these things out of sympathy for you. You wereexposed in the open fields in your own dirt on the day you were born.	5 Occhio pietoso non si volse verso di te per farti una sola di queste cose e non ebbe compassione nei tuoi confronti, ma come oggetto ripugnante, il giorno della tua nascita, fosti gettata via in piena campagna.
6 "I saw you kicking on the ground in your blood as I was passing, and I said to you as you lay in yourblood: Live!	6 Passai vicino a te, ti vidi mentre ti dibattevi nel sangue e ti dissi: Vivi nel tuo sangue
7 and I made you grow like the grass of the fields. You developed, you grew, you reached marriageableage. Your breasts became firm and your hair grew richly, but you were stark naked.	7 e cresci come l’erba del campo. Crescesti, ti facesti grande e giungesti al fiore della giovinezza. Il tuo petto divenne fiorente ed eri giunta ormai alla pubertà, ma eri nuda e scoperta.
8 Then I saw you as I was passing. Your time had come, the time for love. I spread my cloak over youand covered your nakedness; I gave you my oath, I made a covenant with you -- declares the Lord Yahweh --and you became mine.	8 Passai vicino a te e ti vidi. Ecco: la tua età era l’età dell’amore. Io stesi il lembo del mio mantello su di te e coprii la tua nudità. Ti feci un giuramento e strinsi alleanza con te – oracolo del Signore Dio – e divenisti mia.
9 I bathed you in water, I washed the blood off you, I anointed you with oil.	9 Ti lavai con acqua, ti ripulii del sangue e ti unsi con olio.
10 I gave you embroidered dresses, fine leather shoes, a linen headband and a cloak of silk.	10 Ti vestii di ricami, ti calzai di pelle di tasso, ti cinsi il capo di bisso e ti ricoprii di stoffa preziosa.
11 I loaded you with jewels, gave you bracelets for your wrists and a necklace for your throat.	11 Ti adornai di gioielli. Ti misi braccialetti ai polsi e una collana al collo;
12 I gave you nose-ring and earrings; I put a beautiful diadem on your head.	12 misi al tuo naso un anello, orecchini agli orecchi e una splendida corona sul tuo capo.
13 You were loaded with gold and silver and dressed in linen and silk and brocade. Your food was thefinest flour, honey and oil. You grew more and more beautiful; and you rose to be queen.	13 Così fosti adorna d’oro e d’argento. Le tue vesti erano di bisso, di stoffa preziosa e ricami. Fior di farina e miele e olio furono il tuo cibo. Divenisti sempre più bella e giungesti fino ad essere regina.
14 The fame of your beauty spread through the nations, since it was perfect, because I had clothed youwith my own splendour -- declares the Lord Yahweh.	14 La tua fama si diffuse fra le genti. La tua bellezza era perfetta. Ti avevo reso uno splendore. Oracolo del Signore Dio.
15 "But you became infatuated with your own beauty and used your fame to play the whore, lavishingyour debauchery on al comers.	15 Tu però, infatuata per la tua bellezza e approfittando della tua fama, ti sei prostituita, concedendo i tuoi favori a ogni passante.
16 You took some of your clothes to make for yourself high places bright with colours and there youplayed the whore.	16 Prendesti i tuoi abiti per adornare a vari colori le alture su cui ti prostituivi.
17 You also took your jewel ery, made with my gold and silver which I had given you, and made yourselfmale images to serve your whorings.	17 Con i tuoi splendidi gioielli d’oro e d’argento, che io ti avevo dato, facesti immagini d’uomo, con cui ti sei prostituita.
18 You took your embroidered clothes and used these to dress them up, and you offered them my oiland my incense.	18 Tu, inoltre, le adornasti con le tue vesti ricamate. A quelle immagini offristi il mio olio e i miei profumi.
19 And the bread I gave you, the finest flour, the oil and honey with which I fed you, you offered them asa pleasing smel . "What is more -- declares the Lord Yahweh-	19 Ponesti davanti ad esse come offerta di soave odore il pane che io ti avevo dato, il fior di farina, l’olio e il miele di cui ti nutrivo. Oracolo del Signore Dio.
20 you took the sons and daughters you had borne me and sacrificed them as food to the images. Wasnot your whoring enough in itself,	20 Prendesti i figli e le figlie che mi avevi generato e li offristi in cibo. Erano forse poca cosa le tue prostituzioni?
21 for you to slaughter my children and hand them over to be burnt in their honour?	21 Immolasti i miei figli e li offristi a loro, facendoli passare per il fuoco.
22 And in al your loathsome practices and your whorings you never cal ed your early days to mind,when you were stark naked, kicking on the ground in your own blood.	22 Fra tutti i tuoi abomini e le tue prostituzioni non ti ricordasti del tempo della tua giovinezza, quando eri nuda e ti dibattevi nel sangue!
23 "To crown your wickedness -- disaster upon you, disaster! declares the Lord Yahweh-	23 Dopo tutta la tua perversione – guai, guai a te! Oracolo del Signore Dio –
24 you built yourself a mound and made yourself a high place in every open space.	24 ti sei fabbricata un giaciglio e costruita un’altura in ogni piazza.
25 At the entry to every al ey you made yourself a high place, defiling your beauty and opening your legsto al comers in countless acts of fornication.	25 A ogni crocicchio ti sei fatta un’altura, disonorando la tua bellezza, offrendo il tuo corpo a ogni passante e moltiplicando le tue prostituzioni.
26 You have also fornicated with your big-membered neighbours, the Egyptians, provoking my angerwith further acts of fornication.	26 Hai concesso i tuoi favori ai figli d’Egitto, tuoi corpulenti vicini, e hai moltiplicato le tue infedeltà per irritarmi.
27 So now I have raised my hand against you, I have cut down on your food, I have put you at themercy of your enemies, the Philistine women, who blush at your lewd behaviour.	27 A questo punto io ho steso la mano su di te. Ho ridotto il tuo cibo e ti ho abbandonato in potere delle tue nemiche, le figlie dei Filistei, che erano disgustate della tua condotta sfrontata.
28 Stil unsatisfied, you prostituted yourself to the Assyrians; you played the whore with them, but werenot satisfied even then.	28 Non ancora sazia, hai concesso i tuoi favori agli Assiri. Non ancora sazia,
29 You committed further acts of fornication in the country of merchants, with the Chaldaeans, andthese did not satisfy you either.	29 hai moltiplicato le tue infedeltà nel paese dei mercanti, in Caldea, e ancora non ti è bastato.
30 "How simple-minded you are!-declares the Lord Yahweh -- for although you do all the things that aprofessional prostitute would,	30 Com’è stato abietto il tuo cuore – oracolo del Signore Dio – facendo tutte queste azioni degne di una spudorata sgualdrina!
31 in building a mound and making yourself a high place in every street, you do not act like a properprostitute because you disdain to take a fee.	31 Quando ti costruivi un giaciglio a ogni crocevia e ti facevi un’altura in ogni piazza, tu non eri come una prostituta in cerca di guadagno,
32 An adulteress welcomes strangers instead of her husband.	32 ma come un’adultera che, invece del marito, accoglie gli stranieri!
33 Al prostitutes accept presents, but you give presents to all your lovers, you bribe them to come fromal over the place to fornicate with you!	33 A ogni prostituta si dà un compenso, ma tu hai dato il compenso a tutti i tuoi amanti e hai distribuito loro doni perché da ogni parte venissero a te, per le tue prostituzioni.
34 In fornicating, you are the opposite of other women, since no one runs after you to fornicate with you;since you give the fee and do not get one, you are the very opposite!	34 Tu hai fatto il contrario delle altre donne, nelle tue prostituzioni: nessuno è corso dietro a te, mentre tu hai distribuito doni e non ne hai ricevuti, tanto eri pervertita.
35 "Very wel , whore, hear the word of Yahweh!	35 Perciò, o prostituta, ascolta la parola del Signore.
36 The Lord Yahweh says this: For having squandered your money and let yourself be seen nakedwhile whoring with your lovers and all the foul idols of your loathsome practices and for giving them yourchildren's blood-	36 Così dice il Signore Dio: Per le tue ricchezze sperperate, per la tua nudità scoperta nelle tue prostituzioni con i tuoi amanti e con tutti i tuoi idoli abominevoli, per il sangue dei tuoi figli che hai offerto a loro,
37 for al this, I shal assemble all the lovers to whom you have given pleasure, al the ones you likedand also al the ones you disliked; yes, I shal assemble them round you and strip you naked in front of them,and let them see you naked from head to foot.	37 ecco, io radunerò da ogni parte tutti i tuoi amanti con i quali sei stata compiacente, coloro che hai amato insieme con coloro che hai odiato; li radunerò contro di te e ti metterò completamente nuda davanti a loro perché essi ti vedano tutta.
38 I shal pass on you the sentence that adulteresses and murderesses receive; I shall hand you over totheir jealous fury;	38 Ti infliggerò la condanna delle donne che commettono adulterio e spargono sangue, e riverserò su di te furore e gelosia.
39 I shal hand you over to them; they wil destroy your mound and pul down your high place; they wiltear off your clothes, take away your jewels and leave you stark naked.	39 Ti abbandonerò nelle loro mani e distruggeranno i tuoi giacigli, demoliranno le tue alture. Ti spoglieranno delle tue vesti e ti toglieranno i tuoi splendidi ornamenti: ti lasceranno scoperta e nuda.
40 Then they wil call an assembly of citizens to deal with you, who wil stone you to death and hack youto pieces with their swords,	40 Poi ecciteranno contro di te la folla, ti lapideranno e ti trafiggeranno con la spada.
41 and burn down your premises and execute justice on you, while many other women look on; and Ishall put an end to your whoring: no more paid lovers for you!	41 Incendieranno le tue case e sarà eseguita la sentenza contro di te sotto gli occhi di numerose donne. Ti farò smettere di prostituirti e non distribuirai più doni.
42 Once my fury is exhausted with you, then my jealousy wil leave you; I shal be calm and not angryany more.	42 Quando avrò sfogato il mio sdegno su di te, non sarò più geloso di te, mi calmerò e non mi adirerò più.
43 Since you never cal ed to mind your early days and have done nothing but provoke me, now I in myturn shall bring your conduct down on your own head -- declares the Lord Yahweh! "Have you not added thislewd behaviour to your other loathsome practices?	43 Per il fatto che tu non ti sei ricordata del tempo della tua giovinezza e mi hai provocato all’ira con tutte queste cose, adesso io ti farò pagare per le tue azioni – oracolo del Signore Dio – e non aggiungerai altre scelleratezze a tutti gli altri tuoi abomini.
44 So now al dealers in proverbs will apply this one to you: Like mother, like daughter.	44 Ecco, tutti quelli che usano proverbi diranno di te: “Quale la madre, tale la figlia”.
45 Yes; you are a true daughter of your mother, who hated her husband and her children; you are a truesister of your sisters, who hated their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father anAmorite.	45 Tu sei degna figlia di tua madre, che ha abbandonato il marito e i suoi figli: tu sei sorella delle tue sorelle, che hanno abbandonato il marito e i loro figli. Vostra madre era un’Ittita e vostro padre un Amorreo.
46 Your elder sister is Samaria, who lives to the north of you with her daughters. Your younger sister isSodom, who lives to the south of you with her daughters.	46 Tua sorella maggiore è Samaria, che con le sue figlie abita alla tua sinistra. Tua sorella più piccola è Sòdoma, che con le sue figlie abita alla tua destra.
47 You never failed to imitate their behaviour and copy their loathsome practices, and soon yourbehaviour was more corrupt than theirs was.	47 Tu non soltanto hai seguito la loro condotta e agito secondo i loro costumi abominevoli, ma come se ciò fosse stato troppo poco, ti sei comportata peggio di loro in tutta la tua condotta.
48 As I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you andyour daughters have done.	48 Per la mia vita – oracolo del Signore Dio –, tua sorella Sòdoma e le sue figlie non fecero quanto hai fatto tu insieme alle tue figlie!
49 The crime of your sister Sodom was pride, gluttony, calm complacency; such were hers and herdaughters' crimes. They never helped the poor and needy;	49 Ecco, questa fu l’iniquità di tua sorella Sòdoma: essa e le sue figlie erano piene di superbia, ingordigia, ozio indolente. Non stesero però la mano contro il povero e l’indigente.
50 they were proud, and engaged in loathsome practices before me, and so I swept them away as youhave seen.	50 Insuperbirono e commisero ciò che è abominevole dinanzi a me. Io le eliminai appena me ne accorsi.
51 And yet Samaria never committed half the crimes that you have. "You have done more loathsomethings than they have. By al your loathsome practices you have made your sisters seem innocent,	51 Samaria non ha peccato la metà di quanto hai peccato tu. Tu hai moltiplicato i tuoi abomini più di queste tue sorelle, tanto da farle apparire giuste, in confronto con tutti gli abomini che hai commesso.
52 and now you bear the shame of which you have freed your sisters; since the sins which you havecommitted are more revolting than theirs, they are more upright than you are. So now, bear the disgrace andshame of having put your sisters in the right.	52 Devi portare anche tu la tua umiliazione, perché hai fatto sembrare giuste le tue sorelle. Esse appaiono più giuste di te, perché i tuoi peccati superano i loro. Anche tu dunque, devi essere svergognata e portare la tua umiliazione, perché hai fatto sembrare giuste le tue sorelle.
53 "I shal restore their fortunes, I shal restore Sodom and her daughters, I shal re- store Samaria andher daughters, and then I shal restore your fortune with theirs,	53 Ma io cambierò le loro sorti: cambierò le sorti di Sòdoma e delle sue figlie, cambierò le sorti di Samaria e delle sue figlie; anche le tue sorti muterò di fronte a loro,
54 so that you can bear your shame and disgrace for al you have done, and so console them.	54 perché tu possa portare la tua umiliazione e tu senta vergogna di quanto hai fatto: questo le consolerà.
55 When your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, are restored to what they were, and Samaria and herdaughters are restored to what they were, then you too and your daughters wil be restored to what you were.	55 Tua sorella Sòdoma e le sue figlie torneranno al loro stato di prima. Samaria e le sue figlie torneranno al loro stato di prima. Anche tu e le tue figlie tornerete allo stato di prima.
56 Did you not gloat over your sister Sodom when you were so proud,	56 Eppure tua sorella Sòdoma non era forse sulla tua bocca al tempo del tuo orgoglio,
57 before you were stripped naked? Like her, you are now the laughing-stock of the women of Edom, ofal the women round, of the women of Philistia, who pour out their contempt on you.	57 prima che fosse scoperta la tua malvagità, così come ora tu sei disprezzata dalle figlie di Aram e da tutte le figlie dei Filistei che sono intorno a te, le quali ti deridono da ogni parte?
58 You have brought this on yourself, with your lewdness and your loathsome practices -- declares theLord Yahweh.	58 Tu stai scontando la tua scelleratezza e i tuoi abomini. Oracolo del Signore Dio.
59 "For the Lord Yahweh says this: I shal treat you as you have deserved for making light of an oathand breaking a covenant,	59 Poiché così dice il Signore Dio: Io ho ricambiato a te quello che hai fatto tu, perché hai disprezzato il giuramento infrangendo l’alleanza.
60 but I shal remember my covenant with you when you were a girl and shal conclude a covenant withyou that wil last for ever.	60 Ma io mi ricorderò dell’alleanza conclusa con te al tempo della tua giovinezza e stabilirò con te un’alleanza eterna.
61 And you for your part wil remember your behaviour and feel ashamed of it when you receive yourelder and younger sisters and I make them your daughters, although this is not included in my covenant withyou.	61 Allora ricorderai la tua condotta e ne sarai confusa, quando riceverai le tue sorelle maggiori insieme a quelle più piccole, che io darò a te per figlie, ma non in forza della tua alleanza.
62 I shal renew my covenant with you; and you wil know that I am Yahweh,	62 Io stabilirò la mia alleanza con te e tu saprai che io sono il Signore,
63 and so remember and feel ashamed and in your confusion be reduced to silence, when I forgive youfor everything you have done -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '	63 perché te ne ricordi e ti vergogni e, nella tua confusione, tu non apra più bocca, quando ti avrò perdonato quello che hai fatto». Oracolo del Signore Dio.
