Ezekiel 16

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	1 La palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:
2 'Son of man, confront Jerusalem with her loathsome practices!	2 Hijo de hombre, da a conocer a Jerusalén sus abominaciones.
3 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: By origin and birth you belong to the land of Canaan. Your fatherwas an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.	3 Tú dirás: Así habla el Señor a Jerusalén: Por tus orígenes y tu nacimiento, perteneces al país de Canaán; tu padre era un amorreo y tu madre una hitita.
4 At birth, the very day you were born, there was no one to cut your navel-string, or wash you in water toclean you, or rub you with salt, or wrap you in swaddling clothes.	4 Al nacer, el día en que te dieron a luz, tu cordón umbilical no fue cortado, no fuiste lavada con agua para ser purificada ni frotada con sal, ni envuelta en pañales.
5 No one looked at you with pity enough to do any of these things out of sympathy for you. You wereexposed in the open fields in your own dirt on the day you were born.	5 Nadie se compadeció de ti para hacerte alguna de esas cosas, sino que fuiste arrojada en pleno campo, porque dabas asco el día que naciste.
6 "I saw you kicking on the ground in your blood as I was passing, and I said to you as you lay in yourblood: Live!	6 Yo pasé junto a ti, te vi revolcándote en tu propia sangre y entonces te dije: «Vive
7 and I made you grow like the grass of the fields. You developed, you grew, you reached marriageableage. Your breasts became firm and your hair grew richly, but you were stark naked.	7 y crece como un retoño del campo». Tú comenzaste a crecer, te desarrollaste y te hiciste mujer; se formaron tus senos y crecieron tus cabellos, pero estabas completamente desnuda.
8 Then I saw you as I was passing. Your time had come, the time for love. I spread my cloak over youand covered your nakedness; I gave you my oath, I made a covenant with you -- declares the Lord Yahweh --and you became mine.	8 Yo pasé junto a ti y te vi. Era tu tiempo, el tiempo del amor; extendí sobre ti el borde de mi mano y cubrí tu desnudez; te hice un juramento, hice una alianza contigo –oráculo del Señor– y tú fuiste mía.
9 I bathed you in water, I washed the blood off you, I anointed you with oil.	9 Yo te lavé con agua, limpié la sangre que te cubría y te perfumé con óleo.
10 I gave you embroidered dresses, fine leather shoes, a linen headband and a cloak of silk.	10 Te puse un vestido bordado, te calcé con zapatos de cuero fino, te ceñí con una banda de lino y te cubrí con un manto de seda.
11 I loaded you with jewels, gave you bracelets for your wrists and a necklace for your throat.	11 Te adorné con joyas, puse brazaletes en tus muñecas y un collar en tu cuello;
12 I gave you nose-ring and earrings; I put a beautiful diadem on your head.	12 coloqué un anillo en tu nariz, pendientes en tus orejas y una espléndida diadema en tu cabeza.
13 You were loaded with gold and silver and dressed in linen and silk and brocade. Your food was thefinest flour, honey and oil. You grew more and more beautiful; and you rose to be queen.	13 Estabas adornada de oro y de plata, tu vestido era de lino fino, de seda y de tela bordada; te alimentabas con la mejor harina, con miel y aceite. Llegaste a ser extraordinariamente hermosa y te convertiste en una reina.
14 The fame of your beauty spread through the nations, since it was perfect, because I had clothed youwith my own splendour -- declares the Lord Yahweh.	14 Tu fama se extendió entre las naciones, porque tu belleza era perfecta gracias al esplendor con que yo te había adornado –oráculo del Señor–.
15 "But you became infatuated with your own beauty and used your fame to play the whore, lavishingyour debauchery on al comers.	15 Pero tú te preciaste de tu hermosura y te aprovechaste de tu fama para prostituirte; te entregaste sin pudor a todo el que pasaba y fuiste suya.
16 You took some of your clothes to make for yourself high places bright with colours and there youplayed the whore.	16 Tomaste tus vestidos para hacerte lugares altos de vivos colores, y te prostituiste en ellos.
17 You also took your jewel ery, made with my gold and silver which I had given you, and made yourselfmale images to serve your whorings.	17 Tomaste tus joyas hechas con mi oro y mi plata, que yo te había regalado, y te fabricaste imágenes de hombres con las que te prostituiste.
18 You took your embroidered clothes and used these to dress them up, and you offered them my oiland my incense.	18 Tomaste tus vestidos bordados para cubrirlas, y pusiste delante de ellas mi aceite y mi incienso.
19 And the bread I gave you, the finest flour, the oil and honey with which I fed you, you offered them asa pleasing smel . "What is more -- declares the Lord Yahweh-	19 Y el pan que yo te había dado, la mejor harina, el aceite y la miel con que yo te alimentaba, los ofreciste delante de ellas como perfume de aroma agradable –oráculo del Señor–.
20 you took the sons and daughters you had borne me and sacrificed them as food to the images. Wasnot your whoring enough in itself,	20 Tomaste a tus hijos y a tus hijas, los que tú habías engendrado para mí, y los sacrificaste a esas imágenes como alimento. ¿Acaso no te bastaba con prostituirte,
21 for you to slaughter my children and hand them over to be burnt in their honour?	21 que también inmolaste a mis hijos y los entregaste, haciéndolos pasar por el fuego en honor de ellas?
22 And in al your loathsome practices and your whorings you never cal ed your early days to mind,when you were stark naked, kicking on the ground in your own blood.	22 En medio de todas tus abominaciones y prostituciones, no te acordaste de los días de tu juventud, cuando estabas completamente desnuda, revolcándote en tu sangre.
23 "To crown your wickedness -- disaster upon you, disaster! declares the Lord Yahweh-	23 Y en el colmo de tu maldad –¡ay, ay de ti!, oráculo del Señor–
24 you built yourself a mound and made yourself a high place in every open space.	24 te has edificado una colina y has levantado un montículo en todas las plazas.
25 At the entry to every al ey you made yourself a high place, defiling your beauty and opening your legsto al comers in countless acts of fornication.	25 A la entrada de todos los caminos edificaste un montículo, hiciste de tu hermosura una cosa abominable y entregaste tu cuerpo a todo el que pasaba, multiplicando tus prostituciones.
26 You have also fornicated with your big-membered neighbours, the Egyptians, provoking my angerwith further acts of fornication.	26 Te prostituiste a los egipcios, tus vecinos de cuerpo robusto, y multiplicaste tus prostituciones para provocarme.
27 So now I have raised my hand against you, I have cut down on your food, I have put you at themercy of your enemies, the Philistine women, who blush at your lewd behaviour.	27 Por eso, yo extendí mi mano contra ti, Racioné tu alimento y te entregué a la avidez de tus enemigos, a las ciudades de los filisteos, avergonzadas ellas mismas de tu conducta infame.
28 Stil unsatisfied, you prostituted yourself to the Assyrians; you played the whore with them, but werenot satisfied even then.	28 No satisfecha con esto, te prostituiste a los asirios; te prostituiste a ellos, y aún así no quedaste satisfecha.
29 You committed further acts of fornication in the country of merchants, with the Chaldaeans, andthese did not satisfy you either.	29 Entonces multiplicaste tus prostituciones en una tierra de comerciantes, en Caldea, pero ni siquiera con esto quedaste satisfecha.
30 "How simple-minded you are!-declares the Lord Yahweh -- for although you do all the things that aprofessional prostitute would,	30 ¡Qué enloquecido estaba tu corazón –oráculo del Señor– cuando hacías todo esto, obra de una prostituta empedernida!
31 in building a mound and making yourself a high place in every street, you do not act like a properprostitute because you disdain to take a fee.	31 Cuando tú edificabas una colina a la entrada de todos los caminos, y levantabas un montículo en todas las plazas, no eras como la prostituta que busca un salario.
32 An adulteress welcomes strangers instead of her husband.	32 La mujer adúltera, en lugar de su marido, recibe un regalo.
33 Al prostitutes accept presents, but you give presents to all your lovers, you bribe them to come fromal over the place to fornicate with you!	33 A todas las prostitutas se les da un regalo; tú, en cambio, dabas regalos a todos tus amantes, tú los sobornabas a fin de que acudieran a ti de todas partes para tus prostituciones.
34 In fornicating, you are the opposite of other women, since no one runs after you to fornicate with you;since you give the fee and do not get one, you are the very opposite!	34 Al prostituirte, te sucedía lo contrario que a las otras mujeres: nadie corría detrás de ti, eras tú la que pagabas y nadie te pagaba a ti. ¡Hacías exactamente lo contrario!
35 "Very wel , whore, hear the word of Yahweh!	35 Por eso, prostituta, escucha la palabra del Señor,
36 The Lord Yahweh says this: For having squandered your money and let yourself be seen nakedwhile whoring with your lovers and all the foul idols of your loathsome practices and for giving them yourchildren's blood-	36 Así habla el Señor: Por haberte exhibido desvergonzadamente y haber descubierto tu desnudez en tus prostituciones con tus amantes y con todos tus ídolos abominables, y por la sangre de tus hijos que les has ofrecido,
37 for al this, I shal assemble all the lovers to whom you have given pleasure, al the ones you likedand also al the ones you disliked; yes, I shal assemble them round you and strip you naked in front of them,and let them see you naked from head to foot.	37 por todo eso, yo voy a reunir a todos tus amantes, a los que has complacido y amado, y también a los que has odiado; los reuniré contra ti, de todas partes, descubriré ante ellos tu desnudez, y ellos verán toda tu desnudez.
38 I shal pass on you the sentence that adulteresses and murderesses receive; I shall hand you over totheir jealous fury;	38 Te aplicaré el castigo de las mujeres adúlteras y sanguinarias y descargaré sobre ti mi furor y mis celos.
39 I shal hand you over to them; they wil destroy your mound and pul down your high place; they wiltear off your clothes, take away your jewels and leave you stark naked.	39 Yo te entregaré en sus manos. Ellos arrasarán tus colinas y demolerán tus montículos; te despojarán de tus vestidos, te arrebatarán tus joyas y te dejarán completamente desnuda.
40 Then they wil call an assembly of citizens to deal with you, who wil stone you to death and hack youto pieces with their swords,	40 Incitarán a la asamblea contra ti, te lapidarán y te atravesarán con sus espadas,
41 and burn down your premises and execute justice on you, while many other women look on; and Ishall put an end to your whoring: no more paid lovers for you!	41 Quemarán tus casas y te infligirán justos castigos a la vista de una multitud de mujeres. Yo te haré renunciar a la prostitución y ya no harás más regalos.
42 Once my fury is exhausted with you, then my jealousy wil leave you; I shal be calm and not angryany more.	42 Así se apaciguará mi furor contra ti y mis celos se apartarán de ti, quedaré tranquilo y no me irritaré más.
43 Since you never cal ed to mind your early days and have done nothing but provoke me, now I in myturn shall bring your conduct down on your own head -- declares the Lord Yahweh! "Have you not added thislewd behaviour to your other loathsome practices?	43 Porque no te has acordado de los días de tu juventud y has provocado mi ira con todas estas cosas, yo haré recaer tu mala conducta sobre tu cabeza –oráculo del Señor– ¿Acaso no has cometido una infamia con todas tus prácticas abominables?
44 So now al dealers in proverbs will apply this one to you: Like mother, like daughter.	44 Todos los que hacen proverbios, harán uno acerca de ti, diciendo: «De tal madre, tal hija».
45 Yes; you are a true daughter of your mother, who hated her husband and her children; you are a truesister of your sisters, who hated their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father anAmorite.	45 Sí, tú eres la hija de tu madre, que sentía asco de su marido y de sus hijos; eres la hermana de tus hermanas, que sentían asco de sus maridos y de sus hijos: la madre de ustedes era una hitita y su padres un amorreo.
46 Your elder sister is Samaria, who lives to the north of you with her daughters. Your younger sister isSodom, who lives to the south of you with her daughters.	46 Tu hermana mayor es Samaría, que junto con sus hijas habita a tu izquierda, y tu hermana menor es Sodoma, que junto con sus hijas habita a tu derecha.
47 You never failed to imitate their behaviour and copy their loathsome practices, and soon yourbehaviour was more corrupt than theirs was.	47 Pero tú no te has contentado con seguir sus caminos y practicar sus mismas abominaciones, sino que te has corrompido más que ellas en todos tus caminos.
48 As I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you andyour daughters have done.	48 Juro por mi vida –oráculo del Señor– que tu hermana Sodoma y sus hijas no han obrado como tú y tus hijas.
49 The crime of your sister Sodom was pride, gluttony, calm complacency; such were hers and herdaughters' crimes. They never helped the poor and needy;	49 Esta fue la iniquidad de tu hermana Sodoma: soberbia, buena mesa y total despreocupación. Además de esto, ella y sus hijas no socorrieron al pobre y al indigente;
50 they were proud, and engaged in loathsome practices before me, and so I swept them away as youhave seen.	50 se enorgullecieron y cometieron abominaciones en mi presencia. Por eso las rechacé, como tú lo has visto.
51 And yet Samaria never committed half the crimes that you have. "You have done more loathsomethings than they have. By al your loathsome practices you have made your sisters seem innocent,	51 Samaría no cometió ni la mitad de tus pecados. Tú has cometido más abominaciones que tus hermanas, y con las abominaciones cometidas has hecho que ellas parecieran justas.
52 and now you bear the shame of which you have freed your sisters; since the sins which you havecommitted are more revolting than theirs, they are more upright than you are. So now, bear the disgrace andshame of having put your sisters in the right.	52 Carga, entonces, con tu ignominia, por haber intercedido en favor de tus hermanas: tú, con tus pecados, te has hecho más abominable que ellas, y ellas con más justas que tú. Avergüénzate y carga con tu ignominia, ya que has hecho justas a tus hermanas.
53 "I shal restore their fortunes, I shal restore Sodom and her daughters, I shal re- store Samaria andher daughters, and then I shal restore your fortune with theirs,	53 Yo cambiaré su suerte, la suerte de Sodoma con sus hijas y la suerte de Samaría con sus hijas, y cambiaré tu suerte en medio de ellas,
54 so that you can bear your shame and disgrace for al you have done, and so console them.	54 a fin de que cargues con tu ignominia y sientas vergüenza de lo que has hecho, para consuelo de ellas.
55 When your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, are restored to what they were, and Samaria and herdaughters are restored to what they were, then you too and your daughters wil be restored to what you were.	55 Tu hermana Sodoma y sus hijas, lo mismo que Samaría y sus hijas, volverán a su antigua condición. Y tú también volverás a tu antigua condición.
56 Did you not gloat over your sister Sodom when you were so proud,	56 ¿Acaso no has comentado muchas cosas acerca de Sodoma, en el día de tu orgullo,
57 before you were stripped naked? Like her, you are now the laughing-stock of the women of Edom, ofal the women round, of the women of Philistia, who pour out their contempt on you.	57 antes que fuera descubierta tu desnudez? Lo mismo que ella, tú eres ahora objeto de burla para las ciudades de Edom y de todas sus vecinas, y para las ciudades de los filisteos, que se burlan de ti en tus alrededores.
58 You have brought this on yourself, with your lewdness and your loathsome practices -- declares theLord Yahweh.	58 Así cargarás con tu infamia y con tus abominaciones –oráculo del Señor–.
59 "For the Lord Yahweh says this: I shal treat you as you have deserved for making light of an oathand breaking a covenant,	59 Porque así habla el Señor: Yo obraré contigo como has obrado tú, que despreciaste el juramento imprecatorio, quebrantando la alianza.
60 but I shal remember my covenant with you when you were a girl and shal conclude a covenant withyou that wil last for ever.	60 Pero yo me acordaré de la alianza que hice contigo en los días de tu juventud y establecerá para ti una alianza eterna.
61 And you for your part wil remember your behaviour and feel ashamed of it when you receive yourelder and younger sisters and I make them your daughters, although this is not included in my covenant withyou.	61 Tú te acordarás de tu conducta y te sentirás avergonzada, cuando yo tome a tus hermanas, a las mayores y a las menores que tú, y te las dé como hijas, sin que ellas participen de tu alianza.
62 I shal renew my covenant with you; and you wil know that I am Yahweh,	62 Yo estableceré mi alianza contigo, y tú sabrás que yo soy el Señor,
63 and so remember and feel ashamed and in your confusion be reduced to silence, when I forgive youfor everything you have done -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '	63 para que te acuerdes y te avergüences, y para que en tu confusión no te atrevas a abrir la boca, cuando yo te haya perdonado todo lo que has hecho –oráculo del Señor–.
