Ezekiel 16

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	1 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:
2 'Son of man, confront Jerusalem with her loathsome practices!	2 "Figlio dell'uomo, fa' sapere a Gerusalemme le sue abominazioni.
3 Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: By origin and birth you belong to the land of Canaan. Your fatherwas an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.	3 Dirai: Così dice Dio, mio Signore, a Gerusalemme: La tua stirpe e la tua origine sono dal paese dei Cananei. Tuo padre era un amorreo e tua madre una hittita.
4 At birth, the very day you were born, there was no one to cut your navel-string, or wash you in water toclean you, or rub you with salt, or wrap you in swaddling clothes.	4 Alla tua nascita, il giorno in cui fosti partorita non si tagliò il tuo cordone ombelicale né ti si fece il bagno, non ti cosparsero di sali né ti avvolsero in fasce.
5 No one looked at you with pity enough to do any of these things out of sympathy for you. You wereexposed in the open fields in your own dirt on the day you were born.	5 Nessun occhio ebbe compassione di te per prestarti queste cure, avendo pietà di te. Fosti gettata in aperta campagna come oggetto di ripugnanza nel giorno in cui nascesti.
6 "I saw you kicking on the ground in your blood as I was passing, and I said to you as you lay in yourblood: Live!	6 Io ti passai vicino, ti vidi immersa nel tuo sangue e ti dissi: "Vivi, nonostante il tuo sangue,
7 and I made you grow like the grass of the fields. You developed, you grew, you reached marriageableage. Your breasts became firm and your hair grew richly, but you were stark naked.	7 e cresci come i virgulti della campagna". Crescesti, ti facesti grande, arrivasti alle mestruazioni. Le mammelle si rassodarono e tu giungesti alla pubertà: ma eri ancora nuda.
8 Then I saw you as I was passing. Your time had come, the time for love. I spread my cloak over youand covered your nakedness; I gave you my oath, I made a covenant with you -- declares the Lord Yahweh --and you became mine.	8 Ti passai vicino e ti vidi; eri proprio nel tempo dell'amore. Allora stesi il mio lembo su di te, coprii la tua nudità, ti feci un giuramento, feci con te un patto, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore, e fosti mia.
9 I bathed you in water, I washed the blood off you, I anointed you with oil.	9 Ti feci il bagno, lavai il tuo sangue e ti spalmai di olio;
10 I gave you embroidered dresses, fine leather shoes, a linen headband and a cloak of silk.	10 ti misi una veste variopinta, ti infilai calzature preziose, ti cinsi con una fascia di bisso e ti avvolsi in veli.
11 I loaded you with jewels, gave you bracelets for your wrists and a necklace for your throat.	11 Ti abbellii di ornamenti: ti misi braccialetti alle braccia e una collana al collo,
12 I gave you nose-ring and earrings; I put a beautiful diadem on your head.	12 ti misi un anello al naso e pendenti alle orecchie e una corona elegante sulla testa:
13 You were loaded with gold and silver and dressed in linen and silk and brocade. Your food was thefinest flour, honey and oil. You grew more and more beautiful; and you rose to be queen.	13 ti ornai d'oro e d'argento; bisso, veli preziosi e stoffe variopinte erano il tuo vestiario; mangiavi farina purissima, miele e olio. Diventasti molto, molto bella e riuscisti ad arrivare al regno.
14 The fame of your beauty spread through the nations, since it was perfect, because I had clothed youwith my own splendour -- declares the Lord Yahweh.	14 Si diffuse la tua fama tra le genti per la tua bellezza: eri semplicemente perfetta, negli ornamenti di cui ti avevo rivestito, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore.
15 "But you became infatuated with your own beauty and used your fame to play the whore, lavishingyour debauchery on al comers.	15 Ma tu, riponendo la fiducia nella tua bellezza, con la tua fama ti prostituisti e riversasti i tuoi adultèri su ogni passante. Poi, addirittura,
16 You took some of your clothes to make for yourself high places bright with colours and there youplayed the whore.	16 col tuo vestiario facesti recinti striati dove ti sei prostituita.

18 You took your embroidered clothes and used these to dress them up, and you offered them my oiland my incense.	18 con le tue vesti variopinte le ricopristi offrendo ad esse il mio olio e il mio profumo.
19 And the bread I gave you, the finest flour, the oil and honey with which I fed you, you offered them asa pleasing smel . "What is more -- declares the Lord Yahweh-	19 E il cibo che ti avevo dato, la farina purissima, l'olio e il miele di cui ti nutrivo, l'offristi ad esse in profumo soave. Poi addirittura, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore,
20 you took the sons and daughters you had borne me and sacrificed them as food to the images. Wasnot your whoring enough in itself,	20 hai preso i tuoi figli e le tue figlie che mi avevi generato e li hai sacrificati in pasto ad esse. Erano dunque poche le tue prostituzioni?
21 for you to slaughter my children and hand them over to be burnt in their honour?	21 Hai sgozzato i miei figli, hai deciso di consacrarli ad esse.
22 And in al your loathsome practices and your whorings you never cal ed your early days to mind,when you were stark naked, kicking on the ground in your own blood.	22 Con tutte le tue abominazioni e i tuoi adultèri, non ti sei ricordata di quand'eri giovane, che eri tutta nuda e che eri rimasta immersa nel tuo sangue.
23 "To crown your wickedness -- disaster upon you, disaster! declares the Lord Yahweh-	23 Poi addirittura, dopo questi tuoi misfatti, o sventurata, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore,
24 you built yourself a mound and made yourself a high place in every open space.	24 ti sei fatta un'alcova, ti sei fatta un'altura ad ogni via.
25 At the entry to every al ey you made yourself a high place, defiling your beauty and opening your legsto al comers in countless acts of fornication.	25 Ad ogni incrocio ti sei fatta un'altura, rendendo abominevole la tua bellezza, hai allargato le tue gambe ad ogni passante intensificando le tue prostituzioni.
26 You have also fornicated with your big-membered neighbours, the Egyptians, provoking my angerwith further acts of fornication.	26 Ti sei prostituita agli Egiziani, i tuoi vicini dal grosso membro, intensificando la tua prostituzione fino a stomacarmi.
27 So now I have raised my hand against you, I have cut down on your food, I have put you at themercy of your enemies, the Philistine women, who blush at your lewd behaviour.	27 Ecco che allora tesi il mio braccio contro di te e raschiai via il tuo patrimonio e ti diedi in balia delle tue nemiche, le Filistee, colpite dalla tua condotta ignominiosa.
28 Stil unsatisfied, you prostituted yourself to the Assyrians; you played the whore with them, but werenot satisfied even then.	28 Non soddisfatta, ti sei prostituita con gli Assiri. Ti sei prostituita ancora, senza rimanere soddisfatta.
29 You committed further acts of fornication in the country of merchants, with the Chaldaeans, andthese did not satisfy you either.	29 Quindi hai moltiplicato le tue prostituzioni col paese dei commercianti, in Caldea, ma anche così non sei stata soddisfatta.
30 "How simple-minded you are!-declares the Lord Yahweh -- for although you do all the things that aprofessional prostitute would,	30 Come è stato abbietto il tuo cuore, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore, nel fare tutte queste cose, opera di una prostituta licenziosa!
31 in building a mound and making yourself a high place in every street, you do not act like a properprostitute because you disdain to take a fee.	31 Dopo aver fatto l'alcova ad ogni incrocio e l'altura ad ogni via, non fosti come la prostituta, ma non hai voluto neppure la paga.
32 An adulteress welcomes strangers instead of her husband.	32 La donna che è adultera nei confronti di suo marito, prende la paga.
33 Al prostitutes accept presents, but you give presents to all your lovers, you bribe them to come fromal over the place to fornicate with you!	33 Alle adultere si sogliono fare doni, ma tu hai fatto doni a tutti i tuoi amanti, hai fatto loro dei regali perché venissero a te da ogni parte per le prostituzioni.
34 In fornicating, you are the opposite of other women, since no one runs after you to fornicate with you;since you give the fee and do not get one, you are the very opposite!	34 Avveniva nelle tue prostituzioni addirittura il contrario delle altre donne; nessuna si prostituì mai come te, al punto di dare la paga anziché fartela dare!
35 "Very wel , whore, hear the word of Yahweh!	35 Perciò, o prostituta, ascolta la parola del Signore:
36 The Lord Yahweh says this: For having squandered your money and let yourself be seen nakedwhile whoring with your lovers and all the foul idols of your loathsome practices and for giving them yourchildren's blood-	36 Così dice Dio, mio Signore: Siccome hai riversato la tua libidine e hai scoperto la tua nudità nelle tue prostituzioni con tutti i tuoi amanti e tutti i tuoi idoli abominevoli e col sangue dei tuoi figli che hai loro offerto,
37 for al this, I shal assemble all the lovers to whom you have given pleasure, al the ones you likedand also al the ones you disliked; yes, I shal assemble them round you and strip you naked in front of them,and let them see you naked from head to foot.	37 perciò eccomi a te: raccoglierò tutti i tuoi amanti coi quali ti sei divertita, tutti quelli che amasti oltre a quelli che hai odiato; li raccoglierò contro di te da ogni parte e scoprirò loro la tua nudità e ti vedranno tutta nuda.
38 I shal pass on you the sentence that adulteresses and murderesses receive; I shall hand you over totheir jealous fury;	38 Ti condannerò secondo la norma delle adultere e delle donne sanguinarie e ti riserverò sangue, furore e irosa gelosia.
39 I shal hand you over to them; they wil destroy your mound and pul down your high place; they wiltear off your clothes, take away your jewels and leave you stark naked.	39 Ti darò nelle loro mani, distruggeranno le tue alcove, demoliranno le tue alture, ti toglieranno le tue vesti, ti prenderanno gli ornamenti eleganti e ti lasceranno completamente nuda.
40 Then they wil call an assembly of citizens to deal with you, who wil stone you to death and hack youto pieces with their swords,	40 Convocheranno un'assemblea contro di te, ti lapideranno e ti trafiggeranno con le loro spade.
41 and burn down your premises and execute justice on you, while many other women look on; and Ishall put an end to your whoring: no more paid lovers for you!	41 Bruceranno le tue case, decreteranno la tua condanna al cospetto di numerose donne. Ti farò smettere la prostituzione e anche la paga non la potrai più dare.
42 Once my fury is exhausted with you, then my jealousy wil leave you; I shal be calm and not angryany more.	42 Allora placherò il mio furore su di te, la mia gelosia irosa contro di te cesserà; mi acquieterò, non avrò più il voltastomaco.
43 Since you never cal ed to mind your early days and have done nothing but provoke me, now I in myturn shall bring your conduct down on your own head -- declares the Lord Yahweh! "Have you not added thislewd behaviour to your other loathsome practices?	43 Siccome non ti sei ricordata di quand'eri giovane e mi hai irritato in tutti questi modi, ebbene: a mia volta io farò ricadere su di te la tua condanna, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore. Non hai fatto una cosa ignominiosa con tutte le tue abominazioni?
44 So now al dealers in proverbs will apply this one to you: Like mother, like daughter.	44 Ognuno sentenzierà così su di te: la figlia è come la madre.
45 Yes; you are a true daughter of your mother, who hated her husband and her children; you are a truesister of your sisters, who hated their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father anAmorite.	45 Sei proprio figlia di tua madre, cui ripugnavano lo sposo e i figli. Sei sorella delle tue sorelle, cui ripugnavano i mariti e i figli: vostra madre è una hittita e vostro padre un amorreo.
46 Your elder sister is Samaria, who lives to the north of you with her daughters. Your younger sister isSodom, who lives to the south of you with her daughters.	46 Tua sorella maggiore è Samaria. Essa e le sue figlie stanno alla tua sinistra. Tua sorella minore, che sta alla tua destra, è Sodoma con le sue figlie.
47 You never failed to imitate their behaviour and copy their loathsome practices, and soon yourbehaviour was more corrupt than theirs was.	47 Ma tu non hai seguito le loro orme né hai imitato le loro abominazioni; in breve ti sei corrotta più di loro nella tua condotta.
48 As I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you andyour daughters have done.	48 Per la mia vita, oracolo di Dio, mio Signore, Sodoma e le sue figlie non hanno fatto come hai fatto tu e le tue figlie.
49 The crime of your sister Sodom was pride, gluttony, calm complacency; such were hers and herdaughters' crimes. They never helped the poor and needy;	49 Ecco com'era l'iniquità di Sodoma tua sorella: arroganza, abbondanza di cibo e quieto benessere toccò a lei e alle sue figlie e non sostenne il povero e il misero.
50 they were proud, and engaged in loathsome practices before me, and so I swept them away as youhave seen.	50 Si insuperbirono, commisero abominazioni davanti a me e io le tolsi di mezzo, come hai visto.
51 And yet Samaria never committed half the crimes that you have. "You have done more loathsomethings than they have. By al your loathsome practices you have made your sisters seem innocent,	51 Anche Samaria non ha commesso neanche la metà dei tuoi peccati. Hai commesso molte più abominazioni di esse e hai fatto parer giuste le tue sorelle con tutte le abominazioni che hai commesso.
52 and now you bear the shame of which you have freed your sisters; since the sins which you havecommitted are more revolting than theirs, they are more upright than you are. So now, bear the disgrace andshame of having put your sisters in the right.	52 Porta allora anche la vergogna di aver scagionato le tue sorelle; rendendoti più abominevole di loro con i tuoi peccati, esse sono risultate giuste in confronto a te. Almeno vergògnati e porta la vergogna di aver fatto parer giuste le tue sorelle.
53 "I shal restore their fortunes, I shal restore Sodom and her daughters, I shal re- store Samaria andher daughters, and then I shal restore your fortune with theirs,	53 Io però capovolgerò la loro prigionia: la prigionia di Sodoma e delle sue figlie, la prigionia di Samaria e delle sue figlie, e capovolgerò la tua prigionia insieme a loro,
54 so that you can bear your shame and disgrace for al you have done, and so console them.	54 in maniera che tu porti la tua ignominia e ti vergogni di tutto quello che hai fatto, con loro sollievo.
55 When your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, are restored to what they were, and Samaria and herdaughters are restored to what they were, then you too and your daughters wil be restored to what you were.	55 Sì, le tue sorelle Sodoma e le sue figlie torneranno come prima, Samaria e le sue figlie torneranno come prima, tu e le tue figlie tornerete come prima.
56 Did you not gloat over your sister Sodom when you were so proud,	56 Sodoma tua sorella non fu forse oggetto di dicerie sulla tua bocca al tempo della tua arroganza,
57 before you were stripped naked? Like her, you are now the laughing-stock of the women of Edom, ofal the women round, of the women of Philistia, who pour out their contempt on you.	57 prima che fosse svelato il tuo male? Proprio come sei adesso lo scherno delle figlie di Aram e tutti i loro dintorni, delle figlie dei Filistei, che ti disprezzano da ogni parte!
58 You have brought this on yourself, with your lewdness and your loathsome practices -- declares theLord Yahweh.	58 La tua ignominia e le tue abominazioni ti tocca sopportarle, oracolo del Signore.
59 "For the Lord Yahweh says this: I shal treat you as you have deserved for making light of an oathand breaking a covenant,	59 Poiché così dice Dio, mio Signore: Ti farò quel che ti meriti, tu che hai disprezzato il giuramento e hai rotto l'alleanza.
60 but I shal remember my covenant with you when you were a girl and shal conclude a covenant withyou that wil last for ever.	60 Ma io mi ricorderò della mia alleanza con te, quella del tempo della tua gioventù e stabilirò con te un'alleanza perenne.
61 And you for your part wil remember your behaviour and feel ashamed of it when you receive yourelder and younger sisters and I make them your daughters, although this is not included in my covenant withyou.	61 Tu ti ricorderai della tua condotta e ne proverai vergogna, quando accoglierai le tue sorelle, quella maggiore e quella minore. Le renderò tue figlie, non certo in virtù della tua alleanza;
62 I shal renew my covenant with you; and you wil know that I am Yahweh,	62 stabilirò io la mia alleanza con te e riconoscerai che io sono il Signore,
63 and so remember and feel ashamed and in your confusion be reduced to silence, when I forgive youfor everything you have done -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '	63 cosicché tu ti ricorderai e ti vergognerai e non oserai più aprir bocca di fronte alla tua vergogna, dopo che ti avrò purificata da tutto quello che hai fatto. Oracolo di Dio, mio Signore".
