Jeremiah 26

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 At the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiahfrom Yahweh,	1 - Nel principio del regno di Joachim, figlio di Josia re di Giuda [mi] fu comunicata questa parola dal Signore che mi disse:
2 'Yahweh says this, "Stand in the court of the Temple of Yahweh. To al the people from the towns ofJudah who come to worship in the Temple of Yahweh you wil say everything I have ordered you to say, notomitting one syllable.	2 «Così dice il Signore: - Fermati nell'atrio della casa del Signore, e ai cittadini di tutte le città di Giuda, dalle quali vengono ad adorare nella casa del Signore, dirai tutte le parole ch'io ti ho ordinato di dir loro; nessuna parola devi tralasciare.
3 Perhaps they wil listen and each turn from his evil way: if so, I shal relent and not bring the disaster onthem which I intend because of their misdeeds."	3 Potrebbe darsi che ascoltassero e si convertisse ciascuno dalla sua mala via, e che io mi ripenta del male che penso di far loro, a causa della malvagità dei loro intendimenti.
4 Say to them, "Yahweh says this: If you will not listen to me and fol ow my Law which I have given you,	4 E dirai loro: "Il Signore dice così: Se voi non mi darete ascolto di camminare nella mia legge che vi ho dato,
5 and pay attention to the words of my servants the prophets whom I have never tired of sending to you,although you never have paid attention,	5 di prestar orecchio alle parole dei miei servi i profeti che ho mandati a voi facendomi premura e inviandoveli e non avete voluto ascoltarli,
6 I shal treat this Temple as I treated Shiloh, and make this city a curse for al the nations of the world." '	6 ridurrò questa casa come Silo, e darò questa città all'esecrazione di tutte le genti della terra"-».
7 The priests and prophets and al the people heard Jeremiah say these words in the Temple of Yahweh.	7 Ora i sacerdoti e i profeti e tutto il popolo stettero a udire Geremia che parlava queste parole nella casa del Signore.
8 When Jeremiah had finished saying everything that Yahweh had ordered him to say to al the people,the priests and prophets and al the people seized hold of him and said, 'You will die for this!	8 Ma appena Geremia ebbe finito di dire quanto il Signore gli aveva ordinato dicesse a tutto il popolo, lo presero esclamando: «Sia messo a morte!
9 Why have you made this prophecy in Yahweh's name, "This Temple will become like Shiloh, and thiscity become an uninhabited ruin"?' And the people all crowded in on Jeremiah in the Temple of Yahweh.	9 Perchè ha egli profetato nel nome del Signore dicendo: - Come Silo diverrà questa casa, e questa città sarà devastata in guisa tale che non vi sia più chi l'abiti? -». E tutto il popolo si adunò contro Geremia nella casa del Signore.
10 Hearing of this, the chief men of Judah came up from the royal palace to the Temple of Yahweh andtook their seats at the entry of the New Gate of the Temple of Yahweh.	10 Or i principi di Giuda udirono queste cose e salirono dalla reggia alla casa del Signore, e si assisero all'ingresso della Porta nuova della casa del Signore.
11 The priests and prophets then said to the chief men and all the people, 'This man deserves to die,since he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.'	11 E i sacerdoti e i profeti parlarono ai principi e a tutto il popolo dicendo: «La pena di morte è dovuta a quest'uomo! perchè contro questa città ha profetizzato a quel modo che avete udito colle vostre stesse orecchie».
12 Jeremiah, however, replied to all the chief men and all the people as fol ows, 'Yahweh himself sentme to prophesy against this Temple and this city al the things you have heard.	12 E Geremia parlò ai principi e a tutto il popolo dicendo: «Mi ha mandato il Signore a profetizzare a questa casa e a questa città tutte le parole che avete udite.
13 So now amend your behaviour and actions, listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, and Yahweh wilrelent about the disaster that he has decreed for you.	13 Orsù volgete al bene una volta le vostre vie e le vostre intenzioni e date ascolto alla voce del Signore Dio vostro, e il Signore si pentirà del male che aveva pronunziato contro di voi.
14 For myself, I am, as you see, in your hands. Do whatever you please or think right with me.	14 Quant'a me, eccomi, sono nelle vostre mani, fate di me quello che è bene e giusto agli occhi vostri.
15 But be sure of this, that if you put me to death, you wil be bringing innocent blood on yourselves, onthis city and on its inhabitants, since Yahweh has truly sent me to you to say al this for you to hear.'	15 Però voglio che sappiate e conosciate che, se voi mi mettete a morte, mettete il sangue innocente su di voi e su questa città e sui suoi abitanti, perchè in verità il Signore mi ha mandato a voi per dire alle vostre orecchie tutte queste parole».
16 The chief men and al the people then said to the priests and prophets, 'This man does not deserve todie: he has spoken to us in the name of Yahweh our God.'	16 E i principi e tutto il popolo dissero ai sacerdoti e ai profeti: «Quest'uomo non può essere condannato a morte, perchè ha parlato a voi nel nome del Signore Dio nostro».
17 And some of the country's elders rose to address al the assembled people.	17 Frattanto si alzarono alcuni dei seniori del luogo e parlarono a tutta l'assemblea del popolo dicendo:
18 'Micah of Moresheth,' they said, 'who prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, had this tosay to all the people of Judah, "Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Zion wil become ploughland, Jerusalem a heap ofrubble and the Temple Mount a wooded height."	18 «Michea di Morasti fu profeta ai tempi di Ezechia re di Giuda e parlò a tutto il popolo di Giuda dicendo: - così dice il Signore degli eserciti: "Sion come un campo sarà arata, e Gerusalemme sarà un mucchio di pietre, e il monte della casa del Signore, una cima silvestre".
19 'Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death for this? Did they not rather, fearingYahweh, plead with him, to such effect that Yahweh relented about the disaster which he had decreed for them?Are we now to burden our souls with such a crime?'	19 Lo condannò forse a morte, Ezechia re di Giuda e tutto Giuda? non ebbero essi timore del Signore e non cercarono di propiziarsi la sua faccia? e il Signore si pentì del male che aveva pronunciato contro di loro. Noi quindi facciamo un male grande contro le anime nostre».
20 There was another man, too, who used to prophesy in Yahweh's name, Uriah son of Shemaiah, fromKiriath-Jearim. He prophesied exactly the same things against this city and this country as Jeremiah.	20 Vi fu pure un altro che profetava nel nome del Signore, Uria figlio di Semei di Cariatiarim, e profetava contro questa città e contro cotesto paese cose somiglianti in tutto alle parole di Geremia.
21 When King Jehoiakim with all his officers and all the chief men heard what he said, the king wasdetermined to put him to death. On hearing this, Uriah took fright and, fleeing, escaped to Egypt.	21 E udì il re Joachim con tutti i magistrati e principi suoi quelle parole; e il re cercò di ucciderlo. Ma Uria, avutone sentore, ebbe paura e se ne fuggì ed entrò in Egitto.
22 King Jehoiakim, however, sent Elnathan son of Achbor to Egypt with others,	22 E Joachim mandò uomini in Egitto, Elnatan figlio di Acobor e altri con lui in Egitto,
23 who brought Uriah back from Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim, who had him put to the swordand his body thrown into the common burial ground.	23 e trassero dall'Egitto Uria e lo condussero al re Joachim che lo percosse colla spada e gettò il suo cadavere tra i sepolcri del popolo ignobile.
24 But Jeremiah had a protector in Ahikam son of Shaphan, so he was not handed over to the people tobe put to death.	24 Così Aicam figlio di Safan si adoperò in favore di Geremia, affinchè non fosse dato in mano del popolo e non lo facessero morire.
