Jeremiah 26

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 At the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiahfrom Yahweh,	1 NEL principio del regno di Gioiachim, figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda, questa parola mi fu dal Signore indirizzata, dicendo:
2 'Yahweh says this, "Stand in the court of the Temple of Yahweh. To al the people from the towns ofJudah who come to worship in the Temple of Yahweh you wil say everything I have ordered you to say, notomitting one syllable.	2 Così ha detto il Signore: Presentati nel cortile della Casa del Signore, e pronunzia a tutte le città di Giuda che vengono per adorar nella Casa del Signore, tutte le parole che io ti ho comandato di dir loro; non sottrarne nulla.
3 Perhaps they wil listen and each turn from his evil way: if so, I shal relent and not bring the disaster onthem which I intend because of their misdeeds."	3 Forse ubbidiranno, e si convertiranno ciascuno dalla sua via malvagia; ed io altresì mi pentirò del male, che penso di far loro per la malvagità de’ lor fatti.
4 Say to them, "Yahweh says this: If you will not listen to me and fol ow my Law which I have given you,	4 Di’ loro adunque: Così ha detto il Signore: Se voi non mi ubbidite, per camminar nella mia Legge, la quale io vi ho proposta;
5 and pay attention to the words of my servants the prophets whom I have never tired of sending to you,although you never have paid attention,	5 per ascoltar le parole dei miei servitori profeti, i quali io vi mando; a’ quali, benchè io li abbia mandati del continuo per ogni mattina, voi non avete però ubbidito;
6 I shal treat this Temple as I treated Shiloh, and make this city a curse for al the nations of the world." '	6 io renderò questa Casa simile a Silo, e metterò questa città in maledizione appresso tutte le genti della terra
7 The priests and prophets and al the people heard Jeremiah say these words in the Temple of Yahweh.	7 Or i sacerdoti, e i profeti, e tutto il popolo, udirono Geremia pronunziando queste parole nella Casa del Signore.
8 When Jeremiah had finished saying everything that Yahweh had ordered him to say to al the people,the priests and prophets and al the people seized hold of him and said, 'You will die for this!	8 Laonde, dopo che Geremia ebbe fornito di pronunziare tutto ciò che il Signore gli avea comandato di dire a tutto il popolo, i sacerdoti, i profeti, e tutto il popolo lo presero, dicendo: Del tutto tu morrai.
9 Why have you made this prophecy in Yahweh's name, "This Temple will become like Shiloh, and thiscity become an uninhabited ruin"?' And the people all crowded in on Jeremiah in the Temple of Yahweh.	9 Perchè hai tu profetizzato in Nome del Signore, dicendo: Questa Casa sarà come Silo, e questa città sarà deserta, senza abitatori? E tutto il popolo si adunò appresso di Geremia nella Casa del Signore.
10 Hearing of this, the chief men of Judah came up from the royal palace to the Temple of Yahweh andtook their seats at the entry of the New Gate of the Temple of Yahweh.	10 E i principi di Giuda, avendo intese queste cose, salirono dalla casa del re alla Casa del Signore, e sedettero all’entrata della porta nuova della Casa del Signore.
11 The priests and prophets then said to the chief men and all the people, 'This man deserves to die,since he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.'	11 E i sacerdoti, e i profeti parlarono a’ principi di Giuda, ed a tutto il popolo, dicendo: Quest’uomo deve esser giudicato a morte; perciocchè ha profetizzato contro a questa città, come voi avete udito co’ vostri propri orecchi.
12 Jeremiah, however, replied to all the chief men and all the people as fol ows, 'Yahweh himself sentme to prophesy against this Temple and this city al the things you have heard.	12 E Geremia parlò a tutti i principi, ed a tutto il popolo, dicendo: Il Signore mi ha mandato per profetizzare contro a questa Casa, e contro a questa città, tutte le parole che voi avete udite.
13 So now amend your behaviour and actions, listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, and Yahweh wilrelent about the disaster that he has decreed for you.	13 Ora dunque, ammendate le vostre vie, e i vostri fatti, ed ubbidite alla voce del Signore Iddio vostro; e il Signore si pentirà del male ch’egli ha pronunziato contro a voi.
14 For myself, I am, as you see, in your hands. Do whatever you please or think right with me.	14 E quant’è a me, eccomi nelle vostre mani; fatemi secondo che vi parrà bene, e diritto.
15 But be sure of this, that if you put me to death, you wil be bringing innocent blood on yourselves, onthis city and on its inhabitants, since Yahweh has truly sent me to you to say al this for you to hear.'	15 Ma pur sappiate per certo che se voi mi fate morire, voi mettete del sangue innocente addosso a voi, ed a questa città, ed ai suoi abitanti; perciocchè in verità il Signore mi ha mandato a voi, per pronunziare a’ vostri orecchi tutte queste parole
16 The chief men and al the people then said to the priests and prophets, 'This man does not deserve todie: he has spoken to us in the name of Yahweh our God.'	16 Allora i principi, e tutto il popolo, dissero a’ sacerdoti, ed a’ profeti: Non vi è cagione di condannare quest’uomo a morte; conciossiachè egli ci abbia parlato in Nome del Signore Iddio nostro.
17 And some of the country's elders rose to address al the assembled people.	17 Ed alcuni degli anziani del paese di levarono, e parlarono a tutta la raunanza del popolo, dicendo:
18 'Micah of Moresheth,' they said, 'who prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, had this tosay to all the people of Judah, "Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Zion wil become ploughland, Jerusalem a heap ofrubble and the Temple Mount a wooded height."	18 Michea Morastita profetizzò a’ dì di Ezechia, re di Giuda, e parlò a tutto il popolo di Giuda, dicendo: Così ha detto il Signore degli eserciti: Sion sarà arata come un campo, e Gerusalemme sarà ridotta in monti di ruine, e la montagna del Tempio in poggi di boschi.
19 'Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death for this? Did they not rather, fearingYahweh, plead with him, to such effect that Yahweh relented about the disaster which he had decreed for them?Are we now to burden our souls with such a crime?'	19 Ezechia, re di Giuda, e tutto Giuda, lo fecero eglino perciò morire? anzi non temette egli il Signore, e non supplicò egli al Signore? Laonde il Signore si pentì del male che egli avea ronunziato contro a loro. Noi dunque facciamo un gran male contro alle anime nostre.
20 There was another man, too, who used to prophesy in Yahweh's name, Uriah son of Shemaiah, fromKiriath-Jearim. He prophesied exactly the same things against this city and this country as Jeremiah.	20 Ben vi fu anche un altro uomo, che profetizzò in Nome del Signore, cioè: Uria, figliuolo di Semaia, da Chiriat-iearim; il quale profetizzò contro a questa città, e contro a questo paese, secondo tutte le parole di Geremia.
21 When King Jehoiakim with all his officers and all the chief men heard what he said, the king wasdetermined to put him to death. On hearing this, Uriah took fright and, fleeing, escaped to Egypt.	21 E il re Gioiachim, e tutti i suoi uomini di valore, e tutti i principi, udirono le parole di esso; e il re procacciò di farlo morire; ma Uria l’intese, e temette, e se ne fuggì, ed entrò in Egitto.
22 King Jehoiakim, however, sent Elnathan son of Achbor to Egypt with others,	22 Ma il re Gioiachim mandò degli uomini in Egitto, cioè Elnatan, figliuolo di Acbor, ed altri personaggi con lui.
23 who brought Uriah back from Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim, who had him put to the swordand his body thrown into the common burial ground.	23 Ed essi trassero Uria fuor di Egitto, e lo condussero al re Gioiachim; ed egli lo percosse con la spada, e fece gittare il suo corpo morto fra le sepolture del comun popolo.
24 But Jeremiah had a protector in Ahikam son of Shaphan, so he was not handed over to the people tobe put to death.	24 Ma la mano di Ahicam, figliuolo di Safan, fu con Geremia, acciocchè non fosse messo in man del popolo, per farlo morire
