Jeremiah 25

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 The word that was addressed to Jeremiah about al the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakimson of Josiah, king of Judah (that is to say the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon).	1 - Parola che fu comunicata a Geremia per tutto il popolo di Giuda, nel quarto anno di Joachim, figlio di Josia re di Giuda, che è il primo di Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia,
2 The prophet Jeremiah proclaimed it before al the people of Judah and al the inhabitants of Jerusalem:	2 e che Geremia profeta riferì a tutto il popolo di Giuda e a tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme dicendo:
3 'For twenty-three years, from the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, until today, theword of Yahweh has been addressed to me and I have never tired of speaking to you (but you have not listened.	3 «Dall'anno tredicesimo di Josia, figlio di Amon re di Giuda, fino al giorno d'oggi, anno ventesimoterzo, il Signore ha continuato a comunicarmi la sua parola ed io con pronta sollecitudine vi ho parlato e non avete voluto ascoltare.
4 Furthermore, Yahweh has untiringly sent you al his servants the prophets, but you have not listened orpaid attention).	4 E il Signore vi inviò i servi suoi i profeti, di buon'ora ve li mandò e non avete ascoltato e non avete piegato l'orecchio per udire.
5 The message was this, "Turn back, each one of you, from your evil behaviour and your evil actions,and you wil go on living on the soil Yahweh long ago gave to you and your ancestors for ever.	5 Ei ve lo diceva: - Ritraetevi dalla cattiva strada e dai vostri pessimi pensieri e abiterete per secoli e secoli in quella terra che il Signore ha dato a voi e ai vostri padri,
6 (And do not fol ow other gods to serve and worship them, do not provoke me with things youyourselves have made, and then I shall not harm you.)	6 e non andate dietro agli dèi stranieri per servirli e adorarli, non provocatemi allo sdegno colle fatture delle vostre mani e non vi tratterò male.
7 But you have not listened to me (Yahweh declares, so that you have now provoked me with things youyourselves have made, and thus harmed yourselves)."	7 Ma voi non mi avete dato ascolto, dice il Signore, in modo da provocarmi allo sdegno colle fatture delle vostre mani per vostra sventura.-
8 'So-this is what Yahweh Sabaoth says, "Since you have not listened to my words,	8 Perciò, così dice il Signore degli eserciti: - Giacchè le mie parole non furono intese,
9 I shal now send for al the families of the north (Yahweh declares, that is, for Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, my servant) and bring them down on this country and its inhabitants (and on al these surroundingnations); I shal curse them with utter destruction and make them an object of horror, of scorn, and ruin them for ever.	9 ecco che io chiamerò a raccolta tutte le tribù del settentrione, dice il Signore, con Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia mio servo, e le farò venire sopra questa terra e sopra i suoi abitatori e sopra tutte le nazioni circostanti, e ne farò un eccidio e un oggetto di stupore e di scherno, e solitudini eterne.
10 From them I shall banish the shouts of rejoicing and mirth, the voices of bridegroom and bride, thesound of the handmil and the light of the lamp;	10 E disperderò da essi le voci di gioia e di letizia, la voce dello sposo e della sposa, la voce della mola e il chiaror della lucerna.
11 and this whole country will be reduced to ruin and desolation, and these nations will be enslaved tothe king of Babylon for seventy years.	11 E tutta questa terra sarà una solitudine e un orrore, e tutte queste genti serviranno al re di Babilonia per settant'anni.
12 (But when the seventy years are over, I shall punish the king of Babylon and that nation, Yahwehdeclares, for the wrong they have done, that is, the country of the Chaldaeans, and make it desolate for ever),	12 E compiuti che saranno i settant'anni, visiterò il re di Babilonia e quella nazione, dice il Signore, per chieder conto della loro iniquità a essi ed alla terra dei Caldei e ne farò solitudini eterne.
13 and against that country I shal perform al the words with which I have threatened it, that is,everything written in this book." '	13 E sopra quella terra adempirò tutte le parole da me pronunziate contro di essa, tutto quello che è scritto in questo libro e tutte le cose che Geremia ha profetizzato contro tutte le nazioni:
14 What Jeremiah prophesied against al the nations. ('For these in their turn are to be enslaved topowerful nations and great kings, and I shal pay them back as their deeds and handiwork deserve.')	14 perchè serviranno anch'esse, genti numerose che furono e re grandi, ed io renderò ad essi secondo il loro operato e secondo le opere delle loro mani-».
15 For Yahweh, the God of Israel, said this to me, 'Take this cup of the wine of wrath and make al thenations to whom I send you drink it;	15 Perchè così dice il Signore degli eserciti il Dio d'Israele: «Prendi dalla mia mano questo calice di vino di frenesia e ne abbevera tutte le genti alle quali io ti manderò.
16 they wil drink and reel and lose their wits, because of the sword I am sending among them.'	16 E berranno e saranno presi da sbalordimento e impazziranno all'affacciarsi della spada ch'io manderò in mezzo a loro».
17 I took the cup from Yahweh's hand and made al the nations to whom Yahweh sent me drink it	17 E presi il calice dalla mano del Signore e abbeverai tutte le genti alle quali mi mandò il Signore:
18 (Jerusalem and the towns of Judah, its kings and its chief men, to make them a ruin, an object ofhorror and derision and a curse, as is the case today):	18 Gerusalemme e le città di Giuda e i suoi re e i suoi principi per farne la solitudine e l'orrore, lo scherno e l'esecrazione, così com'è al giorno d'oggi.
19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, his officials, his chief men and al his people,	19 Faraone, re di Egitto e i suoi servi e i suoi principi con tutto il suo popolo e genti d'ogni sorta;
20 with the whole conglomeration of peoples there (al the kings of the country of Uz); al the kings of thecountry of the Philistines, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron and what is stil left of Ashdod;	20 tutti i re della terra di Us; tutti i re della terra dei Filistei, di Ascalon, di Gaza, di Accaron e ai superstiti di Azoto;
21 Edom, Moab and the Ammonites;	21 e quei dell'Idumea e di Moab e dei figli di Ammon;
22 (all) the kings of Tyre, (all) the kings of Sidon, the kings of the island across the sea;	22 e tutti i re di Tiro e tutti quei di Sidone, e tutti i re delle isole d'oltre mare;
23 Dedan, Tema, Buz, al the people with shaven temples;	23 e Dedan e Tema e Buz e tutti quelli che si radono i capelli a corona;
24 al the kings of Arabia (and all the kings of the conglomeration of peoples) who live in the desert	24 e tutti i re dell'Arabia e tutti i re di occidente che abitano nel deserto;
25 (all the kings of Zimri), all the kings of Elam, and al the kings of Media;	25 e tutti i re di Zambri; e tutti i re di Elam; e tutti i re della Media;
26 al the kings of the north, near and far, one after another: in short, all the kingdoms on the face of theearth. (As for the king of Sheshak, he wil drink last of all.)	26 e anche tutti i re del settentrione vicini e lontani, l'uno appresso l'altro per turno, tutti insomma i regni della terra che ne occupano la superficie; e dopo di essi berrà anche il re di Sesac.
27 'You wil say to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: Drink! Get drunk! Vomit! Fall,never to rise again, before the sword that I am sending among you!"	27 «E dirai loro che così dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio di Israele: - Bevete e ubriacatevi, vomitate, stramazzate per non più rialzarvi davanti alla spada ch'io manderò in mezzo a voi.-
28 If they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, you wil say to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth saysthis: You must drink!	28 E qualora si rifiutassero di prendere il calice dalla tua mano per bere, dirai ad essi: - Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: "È forza che beviate!
29 Look, for a start, I am bringing disaster on the city that bears my name, so are you likely to gounpunished? You certainly wil not go unpunished, for next I shal summon a sword against al the inhabitants ofthe land, Yahweh declares."	29 Perchè ecco che io incomincerò coll'affliggere la città in cui è invocato il mio nome, e voi, come sicuri dall'impunità, sareste risparmiati? Oh, no, non sarete risparmiati, perchè io chiamo la spada sopra tutti gli abitatori della terra, dice il Signore degli eserciti!" -
30 'For your part, you are to prophesy al these words to them. Say to them: "Yahweh roars from on high,he thunders from his holy dwel ing-place, loudly he roars at his own fold, shouts aloud like those who tread thegrape at all the inhabitants of the land.	30 E tu profetizza ad essi tutte queste cose e dirai loro: - Il Signore dall'alto ruggirà e dalla sua santa dimora manderà fuori la sua voce, ruggirà furiosamente sopra ciò che serviva a suo decoro; un ritmo cadenzato come di pigiatori si canterà sopra tutti gli abitanti della terra.
31 The noise resounds to the remotest parts of the earth. For Yahweh is indicting the nations, arraigningal humanity for judgement; the wicked he assigns to the sword, Yahweh declares.	31 Il frastuono giungerà fino all'estremità della terra, perchè il Signore entra in giudizio colle nazioni: egli fa giustizia di tutti gli uomini: "Io ho dato gli empi alla spada", dice il Signore.
32 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Look, disaster is spreading from nation to nation, a mighty tempest isrising from the far ends of the earth.	32 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: "Ecco l'afflizione uscirà da nazione in nazione e un gran turbine sorgerà dalle estremità della terra.
33 "Those slaughtered by Yahweh that day wil be scattered across the world from end to end. No dirgewil be raised for them; no one wil gather them or bury them; they will stay lying on the surface like dung.	33 E i colpiti dal Signore saranno in quel giorno da un capo all'altro della terra, non saranno pianti nè raccolti nè seppelliti, giaceranno sulla faccia della terra tutti in un carname.
34 "Howl, shepherds, shriek, roll on the ground, you lords of the flock, for your days have come to beslaughtered and to be scattered, and like a choice vase you will fal .	34 Urlate, o pastori, scoppiate in lamenti, cospargetevi di cenere, o capi del gregge, perchè sono compiuti i vostri giorni per essere sgozzati, per finir dispersi! Come vasi preziosi sarete infranti!
35 No refuge then for the shepherds, no escape for the lords of the flock!	35 E non si troverà scampo pei pastori, non luogo da mettersi in salvo pei capi del gregge.
36 Listen! A shriek from the shepherds, a howl from the lords of the flock! For Yahweh has laid theirpasture waste,	36 Si ode il suono delle strida dei pastori, le urla dei capi della greggia, perchè il Signore ha devastati i loro pascoli.
37 the peaceful sheepfolds are reduced to silence owing to Yahweh's furious anger.	37 Poi i pascoli pacifici sono rimasti nel silenzio davanti all'ira sdegnata del Signore.
38 The lion has left his lair and their country is a wasteland now, owing to the devastating fury, owing tohis furious anger." '	38 Ha lasciato nell'abbandono, come leone, il suo ricetto; perchè la loro terra è stata messa nella desolazione davanti all'ira desolatrice, davanti all'ira sdegnata del Signore" -».
