Jeremiah 25

1 The word that was addressed to Jeremiah about al the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakimson of Josiah, king of Judah (that is to say the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon).	1 Az ige, mely elhangzott Jeremiáshoz Júda egész népéről Joakimnak, Jozija fiának, Júda királyának negyedik esztendejében, amely Nebukadnezárnak, Babilon királyának első esztendeje volt.
2 The prophet Jeremiah proclaimed it before al the people of Judah and al the inhabitants of Jerusalem:	2 Ezt mondta Jeremiás próféta Júda egész népének és Jeruzsálem minden lakójának:
3 'For twenty-three years, from the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, until today, theword of Yahweh has been addressed to me and I have never tired of speaking to you (but you have not listened.	3 »Jozijának, Ámon fiának, Júda királyának tizenharmadik esztendejétől mind a mai napig, vagyis huszonhárom esztendőn át hangzott az Úr igéje hozzám; és szóltam hozzátok, idejekorán szóltam, de nem hallgattátok meg.
4 Furthermore, Yahweh has untiringly sent you al his servants the prophets, but you have not listened orpaid attention).	4 Az Úr elküldte hozzátok összes szolgáját, a prófétákat, idejekorán küldte, de nem hallgattátok meg, és nem hajtottátok oda fületeket, hogy meghalljátok,
5 The message was this, "Turn back, each one of you, from your evil behaviour and your evil actions,and you wil go on living on the soil Yahweh long ago gave to you and your ancestors for ever.	5 amikor így szólt: ‘Térjetek meg, mindegyiktek a maga gonosz útjáról és tetteitek gonoszságából! 6 (And do not fol ow other gods to serve and worship them, do not provoke me with things youyourselves have made, and then I shall not harm you.)	6 Ne járjatok más istenek után, hogy nekik szolgáljatok és előttük boruljatok le! Ne bosszantsatok engem kezetek alkotásával, hogy ne tegyek rosszat veletek!
7 But you have not listened to me (Yahweh declares, so that you have now provoked me with things youyourselves have made, and thus harmed yourselves)."	7 De nem hallgattatok rám – mondja az Úr –, azért, hogy bosszantsatok engem kezetek alkotásával, a saját vesztetekre.’
8 'So-this is what Yahweh Sabaoth says, "Since you have not listened to my words,	8 Ezért így szól a Seregek Ura: Mivel nem hallgattátok meg igéimet,
9 I shal now send for al the families of the north (Yahweh declares, that is, for Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, my servant) and bring them down on this country and its inhabitants (and on al these surroundingnations); I shal curse them with utter destruction and make them an object of horror, of scorn, and ruin them for ever.	9 íme, én elküldök észak minden nemzetségéért – mondja az Úr –, és Nebukadnezárért, Babilon királyáért, az én szolgámért, veszem és elhozom őket erre a földre, a lakóira és mindezekre a nemzetekre körös-körül. Kiirtásra szánom, borzadállyá, gúny tárgyává és örök romokká teszem őket.
10 From them I shall banish the shouts of rejoicing and mirth, the voices of bridegroom and bride, thesound of the handmil and the light of the lamp;	10 Eltüntetem közülük az öröm hangját és a vidámság hangját, a vőlegény hangját és a menyasszony hangját, a malom hangját és a mécses világosságát.
11 and this whole country will be reduced to ruin and desolation, and these nations will be enslaved tothe king of Babylon for seventy years.	11 Ez az egész ország rommá és borzadállyá lesz; és ezek a nemzetek Babilon királyát fogják szolgálni hetven esztendeig.
12 (But when the seventy years are over, I shall punish the king of Babylon and that nation, Yahwehdeclares, for the wrong they have done, that is, the country of the Chaldaeans, and make it desolate for ever),	12 De ez történik majd: amikor letelik a hetven esztendő, meglátogatom Babilon királyát és azt a nemzetet – mondja az Úr –, bűnük miatt, meg a káldeaiak országát; és örök pusztasággá teszem azt.

14 What Jeremiah prophesied against al the nations. ('For these in their turn are to be enslaved topowerful nations and great kings, and I shal pay them back as their deeds and handiwork deserve.')	14 Mert szolgaságra vetik őket is, sok nemzet és nagy királyok. 15 For Yahweh, the God of Israel, said this to me, 'Take this cup of the wine of wrath and make al thenations to whom I send you drink it;	15 Mert így szólt hozzám az Úr, Izrael Istene: »Vedd kezemből a harag borának ezt a kelyhét, és itasd meg belőle mindazokat a nemzeteket, amelyekhez küldelek!
16 they wil drink and reel and lose their wits, because of the sword I am sending among them.'	16 Igyanak, tántorogjanak és veszítsék eszüket a kard miatt, amelyet én küldök közéjük!«
17 I took the cup from Yahweh's hand and made al the nations to whom Yahweh sent me drink it	17 Elvettem a kelyhet az Úr kezéből, és megitattam mindazokat a nemzeteket, amelyekhez küldött az Úr:
18 (Jerusalem and the towns of Judah, its kings and its chief men, to make them a ruin, an object ofhorror and derision and a curse, as is the case today):	18 Jeruzsálemet és Júda városait, királyait és fejedelmeit, hogy rommá, borzadállyá, gúny tárgyává és átokká tegyem őket, ahogy az ma is van;
19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, his officials, his chief men and al his people,	19 a fáraót, Egyiptom királyát, az ő szolgáit, fejedelmeit és egész népét;

21 Edom, Moab and the Ammonites;	21 Edomot, Moábot és Ammon fiait;

28 If they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, you wil say to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth saysthis: You must drink!	28 Ha pedig majd vonakodnak elvenni kezedből a kelyhet, hogy igyanak, ezt mondd nekik: Így szól a Seregek Ura: Bizony ki kell innotok!
29 Look, for a start, I am bringing disaster on the city that bears my name, so are you likely to gounpunished? You certainly wil not go unpunished, for next I shal summon a sword against al the inhabitants ofthe land, Yahweh declares."	29 Mert íme, én azon a városon kezdem a pusztítást, amely az én nevemet viseli; akkor ti talán büntetlenül maradhattok? Nem maradtok büntetlenül, mert kardot hívok a föld minden lakójára – mondja a Seregek Ura. –
30 'For your part, you are to prophesy al these words to them. Say to them: "Yahweh roars from on high,he thunders from his holy dwel ing-place, loudly he roars at his own fold, shouts aloud like those who tread thegrape at all the inhabitants of the land.	30 Te pedig prófétáld nekik mindezeket az igéket, és mondd nekik: Az Úr a magasból harsog, szent hajlékából kiereszti hangját; harsogva harsog legelője fölött, kiáltást hallat, mint a szőlőtaposók, a föld minden lakója ellen.
31 The noise resounds to the remotest parts of the earth. For Yahweh is indicting the nations, arraigningal humanity for judgement; the wicked he assigns to the sword, Yahweh declares.	31 Eljut a zúgás a föld végéig, mert pere van az Úrnak a nemzetekkel, ítélkezik minden test fölött; az istenteleneket átadja a kardnak« – mondja az Úr.
32 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Look, disaster is spreading from nation to nation, a mighty tempest isrising from the far ends of the earth.	32 Így szól a Seregek Ura: »Íme, veszedelem indul ki nemzetről nemzetre, és nagy szélvihar támad a föld pereméről.«
33 "Those slaughtered by Yahweh that day wil be scattered across the world from end to end. No dirgewil be raised for them; no one wil gather them or bury them; they will stay lying on the surface like dung.	33 Lesznek mindenütt, akiket megöl az Úr azon a napon, a föld egyik végétől a föld másik végéig; nem siratják, nem szedik össze és nem temetik el őket: trágyává lesznek a föld színén.
34 "Howl, shepherds, shriek, roll on the ground, you lords of the flock, for your days have come to beslaughtered and to be scattered, and like a choice vase you will fal .	34 Jajgassatok, pásztorok, és kiáltozzatok, fetrengjetek, vezérei a nyájnak, mert beteltek napjaitok, hogy levágjanak!
