Jeremiah 25

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 The word that was addressed to Jeremiah about al the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakimson of Josiah, king of Judah (that is to say the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon).	1 Palabra que fue dirigida a Jeremías tocante a todo el pueblo de Judá el año cuarto de Yoyaquim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, - o sea el año primero de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia -,
2 The prophet Jeremiah proclaimed it before al the people of Judah and al the inhabitants of Jerusalem:	2 la cual pronunció e profeta Jeremías a todo el pueblo de Judá y a toda la población de Jerusalén, en estos términos:
3 'For twenty-three years, from the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, until today, theword of Yahweh has been addressed to me and I have never tired of speaking to you (but you have not listened.	3 Desde el año trece de Josías, hijo de Amón, rey de Judá, hasta este día, veintitrés años hace que me es dirigida la palabra de Yahveh, y os la he comunicado puntualmente (pero no habéis oído.
4 Furthermore, Yahweh has untiringly sent you al his servants the prophets, but you have not listened orpaid attention).	4 También os envió Yahveh puntualmente a todos sus siervos los profetas, y tampoco oísteis ni aplicasteis el oído),
5 The message was this, "Turn back, each one of you, from your evil behaviour and your evil actions,and you wil go on living on the soil Yahweh long ago gave to you and your ancestors for ever.	5 diciendo: Ea, volveos cada cual de su mal camino y de sus malas acciones, y volveréis al solar que os dio Yahveh a vosotros y a vuestros padres, desde siempre hasta siempre.
6 (And do not fol ow other gods to serve and worship them, do not provoke me with things youyourselves have made, and then I shall not harm you.)	6 (No vayáis en pos de otros dioses para servirles y adorarles, no me provoquéis con las hechuras de vuestras manos, y no os haré mal.)
7 But you have not listened to me (Yahweh declares, so that you have now provoked me with things youyourselves have made, and thus harmed yourselves)."	7 Pero no me habéis oído (- oráculo de Yahveh - de suerte que con las hechuras de vuestras manos me provocasteis, para vuestro mal).
8 'So-this is what Yahweh Sabaoth says, "Since you have not listened to my words,	8 Por eso, así dice Yahveh Sebaot: Puesto que no habéis oído mis palabras,
9 I shal now send for al the families of the north (Yahweh declares, that is, for Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, my servant) and bring them down on this country and its inhabitants (and on al these surroundingnations); I shal curse them with utter destruction and make them an object of horror, of scorn, and ruin them for ever.	9 he aquí que yo mando a buscar a todos los linajes del norte (- oráculo de Yahveh - y a mi siervo Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia), y los traeré contra esta tierra y contra sus moradores (y contra todas estas gentes de alrededor); los anatematizaré y los pondré por pasmo, rechifla y ruinas eternos,
10 From them I shall banish the shouts of rejoicing and mirth, the voices of bridegroom and bride, thesound of the handmil and the light of the lamp;	10 y haré desaparecer de ellos voz de gozo y voz de alegría, la voz del novio y la voz de la novia, el ruido de la muela y la luz de la candela.
11 and this whole country will be reduced to ruin and desolation, and these nations will be enslaved tothe king of Babylon for seventy years.	11 Será reducida toda esta tierra a pura desolación, y servirán estas gentes al rey de Babilonia setenta años.
12 (But when the seventy years are over, I shall punish the king of Babylon and that nation, Yahwehdeclares, for the wrong they have done, that is, the country of the Chaldaeans, and make it desolate for ever),	12 (Luego, en cumpliéndose los setenta años, visitaré al rey de Babilonia y a dicha gente por su delito - oráculo de Yahveh - y a la tierra de los caldeos trocándola en ruinas eternas).
13 and against that country I shal perform al the words with which I have threatened it, that is,everything written in this book." '	13 Y atraeré sobre aquella tierra todas las palabras que he hablado respecto a ella, todo lo que está escrito en este libro. Lo que profetizó Jeremías tocante a la generalidad de las naciones.
14 What Jeremiah prophesied against al the nations. ('For these in their turn are to be enslaved topowerful nations and great kings, and I shal pay them back as their deeds and handiwork deserve.')	14 (Pues también a ellos los reducirán a servidumbre muchas naciones y reyes grandes, y les pagaré según sus obras y según la hechura de sus manos.)
15 For Yahweh, the God of Israel, said this to me, 'Take this cup of the wine of wrath and make al thenations to whom I send you drink it;	15 Así me ha dicho Yahveh Dios de Israel: Toma esta copa de vino de furia, y hazla beber a todas las naciones a las que yo te envíe;
16 they wil drink and reel and lose their wits, because of the sword I am sending among them.'	16 beberán, y trompicarán, y se enloquecerán ante la espada que voy a soltar entre ellas.
17 I took the cup from Yahweh's hand and made al the nations to whom Yahweh sent me drink it	17 Tomé la copa de mano de Yahveh, e hice beber a todas las naciones a las que me había enviado Yahveh:
18 (Jerusalem and the towns of Judah, its kings and its chief men, to make them a ruin, an object ofhorror and derision and a curse, as is the case today):	18 (a Jerusalén y a las ciudades de Judá, a sus reyes y a sus principales, para trocarlo todo en desolación, pasmo, rechifla y maldición, como hoy está sucediendo);
19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, his officials, his chief men and al his people,	19 a Faraón, rey de Egipto, a sus siervos, a sus principales y a todo su pueblo,
20 with the whole conglomeration of peoples there (al the kings of the country of Uz); al the kings of thecountry of the Philistines, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron and what is stil left of Ashdod;	20 a todos los mestizos (a todos los reyes de Us); a todos los reyes de Filistea: a Ascalón, Gaza, Ecrón y al residuo de Asdod;
21 Edom, Moab and the Ammonites;	21 a Edom, Moab, y los ammonitas,
22 (all) the kings of Tyre, (all) the kings of Sidon, the kings of the island across the sea;	22 a (todos) los reyes de Tiro, a (todos) los reyes de Sidón y a los reyes de las islas de allende el mar;
23 Dedan, Tema, Buz, al the people with shaven temples;	23 a Dedán, Temá, Buz; a todos los que se afeitan las sienes,
24 al the kings of Arabia (and all the kings of the conglomeration of peoples) who live in the desert	24 a todos los reyes de Arabia y a todos los reyes de los mestizos habitantes del desierto;
25 (all the kings of Zimri), all the kings of Elam, and al the kings of Media;	25 (a todos los reyes de Zimrí) a todos los reyes de Elam y a todos los reyes de Media,
26 al the kings of the north, near and far, one after another: in short, all the kingdoms on the face of theearth. (As for the king of Sheshak, he wil drink last of all.)	26 a todos los reyes del norte, los próximos y los remotos, cada uno con su hermano, y a todos los reinos que hay sobre la haz de la tierra. (Y el rey de Sesak beberá después de ellos.)
27 'You wil say to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: Drink! Get drunk! Vomit! Fall,never to rise again, before the sword that I am sending among you!"	27 Y les dirás: Así dice Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel: Bebed, emborrachaos, vomitad, caed y no os levantéis delante de la espada que yo voy a soltar entre vosotros.
28 If they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, you wil say to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth saysthis: You must drink!	28 Y si rehúsan tomar la copa de tu mano para beber, les dices: Así dice Yahveh Sebaot: Tenéis que beber sin falta,
29 Look, for a start, I am bringing disaster on the city that bears my name, so are you likely to gounpunished? You certainly wil not go unpunished, for next I shal summon a sword against al the inhabitants ofthe land, Yahweh declares."	29 porque precisamente por la ciudad que lleva mi Nombre empiezo a castigar; ¿y vosotros, quedaréis impunes?: ¡no, no quedaréis!, porque a la espada llamo yo contra todos los habitantes de la tierra - oráculo de Yahveh Sebaot -.
30 'For your part, you are to prophesy al these words to them. Say to them: "Yahweh roars from on high,he thunders from his holy dwel ing-place, loudly he roars at his own fold, shouts aloud like those who tread thegrape at all the inhabitants of the land.	30 Tú, pues, les profetizas todas estas palabras y les dices: Yahveh desde lo alto ruge, y desde su santa Morada da su voz. Ruge contra su aprisco: grita como los lagareros. A todos los habitantes de la tierra
31 The noise resounds to the remotest parts of the earth. For Yahweh is indicting the nations, arraigningal humanity for judgement; the wicked he assigns to the sword, Yahweh declares.	31 llega el eco, hasta el fin de la tierra. Porque pleitea Yahveh con las naciones y vence en juicio a toda criatura. A los malos los entrega a la espada - oráculo de Yahveh -.
32 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Look, disaster is spreading from nation to nation, a mighty tempest isrising from the far ends of the earth.	32 Así dice Yahveh Sebaot: Mirad que una desgracia se propaga de nación a nación, y una gran tormenta surge del fin del mundo.
33 "Those slaughtered by Yahweh that day wil be scattered across the world from end to end. No dirgewil be raised for them; no one wil gather them or bury them; they will stay lying on the surface like dung.	33 Habrá víctimas de Yahveh en aquel día de cabo a cabo de la tierra; no serán plañidos ni recogidos ni sepultados más: se volverán estiércol sobre la haz de la tierra.
34 "Howl, shepherds, shriek, roll on the ground, you lords of the flock, for your days have come to beslaughtered and to be scattered, and like a choice vase you will fal .	34 Ululad, pastores, y clamad; revolcaos, mayorales, porque se han cumplido vuestros días para la matanza, y caeréis como objetos escogidos.
35 No refuge then for the shepherds, no escape for the lords of the flock!	35 No habrá evasión para los pastores ni escapatoria para los mayorales.
36 Listen! A shriek from the shepherds, a howl from the lords of the flock! For Yahweh has laid theirpasture waste,	36 Se oye el grito de los pastores, el ulular de los mayorales, porque devasta Yahveh su pastizal,
37 the peaceful sheepfolds are reduced to silence owing to Yahweh's furious anger.	37 y son aniquiladas las estancias más seguras por la ardiente cólera de Yahveh.
38 The lion has left his lair and their country is a wasteland now, owing to the devastating fury, owing tohis furious anger." '	38 Ha dejado el león su cubil, y se ha convertido su tierra en desolación ante la cólera irresistible, ante la ardiente cólera.
