Jeremiah 25

1 The word that was addressed to Jeremiah about al the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakimson of Josiah, king of Judah (that is to say the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon).	1 Parola, che fu rivelata a Geremia intorno a tutto il popolo di Giuda l'anno quarto di Joachim figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda, che è l'anno primo di Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia.
2 The prophet Jeremiah proclaimed it before al the people of Judah and al the inhabitants of Jerusalem:	2 La qual parola ripetè Geremia profeta a tutto il popolo di Giuda, e a tutti gli abitatori di Gerusalemme, dicendo:
3 'For twenty-three years, from the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, until today, theword of Yahweh has been addressed to me and I have never tired of speaking to you (but you have not listened.	3 Dall'anno tredicesimo di Giosia figliuolo di Ammon, re di Giuda, fino a questo giorno, questo è il ventesimo terzo anno, dacché il Signore parlommi, e io ho parlato a voi, levandomi la notte per favellarvi; e voi non avete ascoltato.
4 Furthermore, Yahweh has untiringly sent you al his servants the prophets, but you have not listened orpaid attention).	4 E il Signore assai per tempo ha spediti a voi tutti i suoi servi, i profeti, gli ha spediti, e non gli avete ascoltati, né avete piegate le orecchie per dar loro retta,
5 The message was this, "Turn back, each one of you, from your evil behaviour and your evil actions,and you wil go on living on the soil Yahweh long ago gave to you and your ancestors for ever.	5 Quand'ei vi diceva: Si converta ognuno di voi dalla sua mala vita, e dalle pessime sue inclinazioni, e abiterete per tutti i secoli nella terra data dal Signore a voi, e a' padri vostri;
6 (And do not fol ow other gods to serve and worship them, do not provoke me with things youyourselves have made, and then I shall not harm you.)	6 E non andate dietro a dei stranieri per adorargli, e servirgli; e non provocate me ad ira colle opere delle vostre mani, e io non darò a voi afflizione.
7 But you have not listened to me (Yahweh declares, so that you have now provoked me with things youyourselves have made, and thus harmed yourselves)."	7 Ma voi non m'avete ascoltato, dice il Signore, talmente che mi avete provocato ad ira colle opere delle vostre mani per vostro danno.
8 'So-this is what Yahweh Sabaoth says, "Since you have not listened to my words,	8 Quindi il Signore degli eserciti parla così: Perchè voi non avete ascoltate le mie parole,
9 I shal now send for al the families of the north (Yahweh declares, that is, for Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, my servant) and bring them down on this country and its inhabitants (and on al these surroundingnations); I shal curse them with utter destruction and make them an object of horror, of scorn, and ruin them for ever.	9 Ecco che io prenderò meco, e spedirò tutte le famiglie del settentrione, dice il Signore, e Nabuchodonosor re di Babilonia mio servo, e li condurrò contro questa terra, e contro i suoi abitatori, e contro tutte le nazioni, che sono all'intorno, e gli ucciderò, e ridurrogli ad essere spavento, e scherno di tutti, e solitudine sempiterna.
10 From them I shall banish the shouts of rejoicing and mirth, the voices of bridegroom and bride, thesound of the handmil and the light of the lamp;	10 E torrò via da essi la voce di gaudio, e la voce di letizia, la voce dello sposo, e la voce della sposa, le canzoni intorno alle macine, e il lume di lampana.
11 and this whole country will be reduced to ruin and desolation, and these nations will be enslaved tothe king of Babylon for seventy years.	11 E tutta questa terra sarà solitudine spaventosa: e serviranno tutte queste genti al re di Babilonia per settanta anni.
12 (But when the seventy years are over, I shall punish the king of Babylon and that nation, Yahwehdeclares, for the wrong they have done, that is, the country of the Chaldaeans, and make it desolate for ever),	12 E passati i settant'anni io visiterò il re di Babilonia, e quella nazione, e la loro iniquità, e la terra de' Caldei, dice il Signore; e la ridurrò a solitudine eterna.
13 and against that country I shal perform al the words with which I have threatened it, that is,everything written in this book." '	13 E sopra quella terra adempierò tutte le mie parole dette da me contro di lei, tutto quello, che sta scritto in questo libro, e tutto quello, che Geremia ha predetto contro tutte le genti:
14 What Jeremiah prophesied against al the nations. ('For these in their turn are to be enslaved topowerful nations and great kings, and I shal pay them back as their deeds and handiwork deserve.')	14 Perchè hanno servito a coloro, tuttocchè fossero molte nazioni, e regi grandi: ed io renderò loro quello, che meritano, e secondo le opere delle lor mani.
15 For Yahweh, the God of Israel, said this to me, 'Take this cup of the wine of wrath and make al thenations to whom I send you drink it;	15 Imperocché così dice il Signor degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Prendi dalla mia mano questo calice di vino del furor mio: e danne a bere a tutte le genti, alle quali io ti manderò.
16 they wil drink and reel and lose their wits, because of the sword I am sending among them.'	16 Ed elle ne beranno, e ne saranno agitate, e perderanno la ragione alla vista della spada, ch'io manderò contro di esse.
17 I took the cup from Yahweh's hand and made al the nations to whom Yahweh sent me drink it	17 Ed io presi il calice dalla mano del Signore, e ne diedi a bere a tutte le genti, alle quali il Signore mi mandò,
18 (Jerusalem and the towns of Judah, its kings and its chief men, to make them a ruin, an object ofhorror and derision and a curse, as is the case today):	18 A Gerusalemme, e alle città di Giuda e a' suoi regi, e a' suoi principi, onde fosse per me ridotta la terra in solitudine spaventosa, oggetto di scherno, e di orrore, com'ella è in quest'oggi:
19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, his officials, his chief men and al his people,	19 A Faraone re dell'Egitto, e a' suoi servi, e a' suoi principi, e a tutto il suo popolo,
20 with the whole conglomeration of peoples there (al the kings of the country of Uz); al the kings of thecountry of the Philistines, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron and what is stil left of Ashdod;	20 E a tutti in generale; a tutti i re della terra di Hus, e a tutti i re della terra de' Filistei, ad Ascalone, e a Gaza, e ad Accaron, e agli avanzi di Azoto,
21 Edom, Moab and the Ammonites;	21 E all'Idumea, e a Moab, e a' figliuoli di Ammon;
22 (all) the kings of Tyre, (all) the kings of Sidon, the kings of the island across the sea;	22 E a tutti i re di Tiro, e a tutti i re di Sidone, e ai re delle isole, che sono di là dal mare;
23 Dedan, Tema, Buz, al the people with shaven temples;	23 E a Dedan, e a Thema, e a Buz, e a tutti quegli, che si tosano i capelli a modo di corona;
24 al the kings of Arabia (and all the kings of the conglomeration of peoples) who live in the desert	24 E a tutti i re dell'Arabia, e a tutti i re di occidente, che abitano il deserto;
25 (all the kings of Zimri), all the kings of Elam, and al the kings of Media;	25 E a tutti i re di Zambri, e a tutti i re di Elam, e a tutti i re de' Medi;
26 al the kings of the north, near and far, one after another: in short, all the kingdoms on the face of theearth. (As for the king of Sheshak, he wil drink last of all.)	26 E a tutti eziando i regi di settentrione vicini, e lontani: a ognun di questi (ne diedi, perchè si levi su) contro il proprio fratello; e a tutti i regni della terra, quanti ne sono nella sua superficie: e il re di Sesac ne berà dopo di essi:
27 'You wil say to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: Drink! Get drunk! Vomit! Fall,never to rise again, before the sword that I am sending among you!"	27 E tu dirai loro: Queste cose dice il Signor degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Bevete, e ubbriacatevi sino a vomitare; e strammazzate per terra, e non vi alzate alla vista della spada, ch'io manderò contro di voi.
28 If they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, you wil say to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth saysthis: You must drink!	28 E quando non vorran ricevere dalla tua mano il calice, e bere, tu dirai loro: Queste cose dice il Signor degli eserciti: Voi berete in ogni modo:
29 Look, for a start, I am bringing disaster on the city that bears my name, so are you likely to gounpunished? You certainly wil not go unpunished, for next I shal summon a sword against al the inhabitants ofthe land, Yahweh declares."	29 Imperocché ecco che io comincerò ad affliggere la città, che porta il mio nome, e voi, quasi foste innocenti, resterete impuniti? Voi non sarete impuniti: imperocché ecco che io spedisco la spada contro tutti gli abitatori della terra, dice il Signor degli eserciti.
30 'For your part, you are to prophesy al these words to them. Say to them: "Yahweh roars from on high,he thunders from his holy dwel ing-place, loudly he roars at his own fold, shouts aloud like those who tread thegrape at all the inhabitants of the land.	30 E tu profetizzerai ad esse tutte queste cose, e dirai loro: Il Signore ruggirà dall'alto, e dalla mansione sua santa alzerà la sua voce: ruggirà altamente contro il luogo della sua gloria: si canterà contro gli abitatori tutti della terra canzone simile a quella di coloro, che pigian le uve.
31 The noise resounds to the remotest parts of the earth. For Yahweh is indicting the nations, arraigningal humanity for judgement; the wicked he assigns to the sword, Yahweh declares.	31 Giungeranne lo strepito sino agli ultimi confini della terra: perocché il Signore entra in giudizio colle nazioni, disputa la sua causa contro ogni uomo. Io ho abbandonati gli empj alla spada, dice il Signore.
32 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Look, disaster is spreading from nation to nation, a mighty tempest isrising from the far ends of the earth.	32 Queste cose dice il Signor degli eserciti: Ecco che l'afflizione passerà da un popolo all'altro: e un turbine spaventoso si leverà dalle estremità della terra.
33 "Those slaughtered by Yahweh that day wil be scattered across the world from end to end. No dirgewil be raised for them; no one wil gather them or bury them; they will stay lying on the surface like dung.	33 E quelli, che il Signore avrà messi a morte in quel dì, si stenderanno da un polo della terra fino all'altro: non si farà duolo, e non si raccoglieranno, né darassi lor sepoltura: giaceranno sulla terra come lo sterco.
34 "Howl, shepherds, shriek, roll on the ground, you lords of the flock, for your days have come to beslaughtered and to be scattered, and like a choice vase you will fal .	34 Alzate le urla, o pastori, e gridate e copritevi di cenere voi, capi del gregge; perocché i giorni vostri sono finiti, e voi sarete spezzati, e come vasi preziosi anderete per terra.
35 No refuge then for the shepherds, no escape for the lords of the flock!	35 E i pastori non avran luogo alla fuga, e i capi del gregge non avran luogo a salvarsi.
36 Listen! A shriek from the shepherds, a howl from the lords of the flock! For Yahweh has laid theirpasture waste,	36 Voci di strida dei pastori, e urli dei capi del gregge; perchè ha dissipati gli ovili loro il Signore.
37 the peaceful sheepfolds are reduced to silence owing to Yahweh's furious anger.	37 E le campagne di pace son taciturne al cospetto dell'ira furibonda del Signore.
38 The lion has left his lair and their country is a wasteland now, owing to the devastating fury, owing tohis furious anger." '	38 Egli qual lione ha abbandonato il luogo, dov'ei posava, e la terra loro è ridotta in desolazione dall'ira della colomba, e dall'ira furibonda del Signore.
