Jeremiah 24

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Yahweh gave me a vision: set out in front of the Temple of Yahweh were two baskets of figs. This wasafter Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had led Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, away into exile fromJerusalem, with the chief men of Judah, the blacksmiths and metalworkers, and had taken them to Babylon.	1 El Señor me hizo ver dos canastas de higos, puestas delante del Templo del Señor. Esto sucedió después que Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, deportó de Jerusalén a Jeconías, hijo de Joaquím, rey de Judá, así como también a los príncipes de Judá, a los artesanos y a los cerrajeros, y se los llevó a Babilonia.
2 One basket contained excellent figs, like those that ripen first; the other contained very bad figs, so badthey were uneatable.	2 Una canasta tenía higos muy malos, tan malos que no se los podía comer.
3 Yahweh said to me, 'What do you see, Jeremiah?' 'Figs,' I answered, 'the good ones excel ent, the badones very bad, so bad as to be uneatable.'	3 El Señor me dijo: «¿Qué ves, Jeremías?». «Higos, respondí; los higos buenos son muy buenos; los higos malos son muy malos, tan malos que no se los puede comer».
4 Then the word of Yahweh was addressed to me,	4 Entonces la palabra del Señor me llegó en estos términos:
5 'Yahweh, the God of Israel, says this, "As these figs are good, so I mean to concern myself with thewelfare of the exiles of Judah whom I have sent from this place to the country of the Chaldaeans.	5 Así habla el Señor, Dios de Israel: Como a estos higos buenos, así miraré yo para su bien a los deportados de Judá que envié de este lugar al país de los caldeos.
6 My eyes will watch over them for their good, to bring them back to this country, to build them up andnot to break them down, to plant them and not to uproot them.	6 Yo pondré mis ojos sobre ellos para su bien, y los haré volver a este país; los edificaré y no los demoleré, los plantaré y nos los arrancaré.
7 I shal give them a heart to acknowledge that I am Yahweh. They wil be my people and I shal be theirGod, for they will return to me with all their heart.	7 Les daré un corazón para que me conozcan a mí, que soy el Señor ; ellos serán mi Pueblo y yo seré su Dios, porque volverán a mí de todo corazón.
8 As for the bad figs, the figs so bad as to be uneatable-yes, Yahweh says this -- that is how I shal treatZedekiah king of Judah, his chief men and what is left of Jerusalem, those who remain in this country and thoseliving in Egypt.	8 Pero como a esos higos malos, que de tan malos no se los puede comer –sí, así habla el Señor– de esa misma manera, trataré a Sedecías, rey de Judá, a sus príncipes y al resto de Jerusalén, tanto a los que han quedado en este país como a los que habitan en el país de Egipto.
9 I shal make them an object of horror, a disaster, to all the kingdoms of the earth, a thing of shame, abyword, a laughing-stock, a curse, wherever I shal drive them.	9 Yo haré de ellos un objeto de terror para todos los reinos de la tierra, un objeto de escarnio, de sátira y de risa, y una maldición en todos los lugares adonde los expulsaré.
10 Sword, famine and plague I shall send against them until they have vanished from the soil I gave tothem and to their ancestors." '	10 Enviaré contra ellos la espada, el hambre y la peste, hasta que desaparezcan por completo del suelo que les di a ellos y a sus padres.
