Jeremiah 23

1 'Disaster for the shepherds who lose and scatter the sheep of my pasture, Yahweh declares.	1 Guai ai pastori che disperdono e lacerano il gregge dei miei pascoli — dice il Signore. —
2 This, therefore, is what Yahweh, God of Israel, says about the shepherds who shepherd my people,"You have scattered my flock, you have driven them away and have not taken care of them. Right, I shal takecare of you for your misdeeds, Yahweh declares!	2 Per questo, così parla il Signore, il Dio d'Israele, riguardo ai pastori che pascolano il mio popolo: « Voi avete disperso il mio gregge, l'avete scacciato, non siete andati a trovarlo, ed ecco, io verrò a trovar voi per la malizia delle vostre azioni — dice il Signore —
3 But the remnant of my flock I myself shal gather from all the countries where I have driven them, andbring them back to their folds; they will be fruitful and increase in numbers.	3 ed io radunerò gli avanzi del mio gregge da tutte le terre nelle quali li avrò cacciati, e li farò tornare ai loro pascoli, e cresceranno e moltiplicheranno.
4 For them I shall raise up shepherds to shepherd them and pasture them. No fear, no terror for themany more; not one shal be lost, Yahweh declares!	4 E susciterò per essi dei pastori che li pasceranno, non avran più nè timori, nè spaventi, e di quanti sono non mancherà nessuno dice il Signore.
5 Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when I shal raise an upright Branch for David; he willreign as king and be wise, doing what is just and upright in the country.	5 Ecco che i giorni vengono — dice il Signore — ed io susciterò a David un germe giusto, che dominerà come re e sarà sapiente ed agirà secondo il diritto e la giustizia sulla terra.
6 In his days Judah wil triumph and Israel live in safety. And this is the name he wil be called, 'Yahweh-is-our-Saving-Justice.' "	6 In quei giorni Giuda sarà salvato, e Israele vivrà tranquillo, ed ecco il nome col quale sarà chiamato: il Signore, il nostro Giusto.
7 'So, look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when people wil no longer say, "As Yahweh liveswho brought the Israelites out of Egypt,"	7 Per questo, ecco che avvengono i giorni — dice il Signore — in cui non si dirà più: « Vive il Signore che trasse i figli d'Israele dalla terra d'Egitto »,
8 but, "As Yahweh lives who led back and brought home the offspring of the House of Israel from theland of the north and all the countries to which he had driven them, to live on their own soil." '	8 ma « Vive il Signore che ha tratto e condotto la stirpe della casa d'Israele dalla terra del settentrione, da tutte le terre in cui l'avevo cacciata, ed essi abiteranno la loro terra ».
9 On the prophets. My heart is broken within me, I tremble in al my bones; I am like a drunken man, likea man overcome with wine, because of Yahweh and his holy words:	9 Ai profeti: « Il mio cuore è spezzato dentro di me, tutte le mie ossa tremano, io sono come un briaco, come un uomo preso dal vino, davanti al Signore, davanti alle sue sante parole,
10 'For the country is ful of adulterers; yes, because of a curse, the country is in mourning and thepasturage in the desert has dried up; they are prompt to do wrong, make no effort to do right.	10 perchè la terra è piena d'adulterii, perchè per le bestemmie la terra è in lutto, son riarsi i campi del deserto; la loro carriera è diventata cattiva, la loro forza è l'ingiustizia.
11 Yes, even prophet and priest are godless, I have detected their wickedness in my own House,Yahweh declares.	11 Infatti il profeta e il sacerdote sono immondi, e nella mia stessa casa ho trovato il loro male — dice il Signore. —
12 Because of this, their way wil prove treacherous going for them; in the darkness where they aredriven, there they wil fall. For I shal bring disaster on them, when the year for punishing them comes, Yahwehdeclares.	12 Per questo la loro via sarà come mi precipizio nel buio: inciamperanno e precipiteranno: io farò venire sopra di essi le sventure, l'anno del loro castigo — dice il Signore.—
13 'In the prophets of Samaria I have seen insanity: they prophesied in the name of Baal and led mypeople Israel astray.	13 Nei profeti di Samaria io vidi l'insensataggine: profetavano per Baal, ingannavano il mio popolo d'Israele.
14 But in the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen something horrible: adultery, persistent lying, suchabetting of the wicked that no one renounces his wickedness. To me they are al like Sodom and its inhabitantsare like Gomorrah.	14 E nei profeti di Gerusalemme ho visto la forma degli adulteri, la via della menzogna: han rese forti le mani dei malvagi, in modo che nessuno di essi si converta dalla sua malvagità: mi son diventati tutti come Sodoma, e i suoi abitanti come Gomorra.
15 So this is what Yahweh Sabaoth says about the prophets, "Now I shal give them wormwood to eatand make them drink poisoned water, since from the prophets of Jerusalem godlessness has spread throughoutthe land."	15 Per questo, ecco quanto dice il Signore degli eserciti riguardo ai profeti: « Io li ciberò d'assenzio, li abbevererò col fiele, perchè dai profeti di Gerusalemme l'immondezza si è diffusa sopra tutta la terra ».
16 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Do not listen to what those prophets prophesy to you; they are deludingyou, they retail visions of their own, and not what comes from Yahweh's mouth.	16 Queste cose dice il Signore degli eserciti: « Non state a sentire le parole dei profeti che vi profetizzano e v'ingannano: dicono le visioni del loro cuore, e non ciò che esce dalla bocca del Signore.
17 To those who despise me, they keep saying: Yahweh has spoken: you wil have peace! and to al whofol ow their own stubborn inclinations: No disaster wil touch you."	17 Dicono a quelli che mi bestemmiano: — Il Signore ha parlato: avrete la pace — e a quelli che seguono il depravato loro cuore dicono: — Non verrà sopra di voi la sventura.
18 But who has been present in Yahweh's council and seen, and heard his word? Who has paidattention to his word and listened to it?	18 E chi assistè al consiglio del Signore e vide, e ne senti i discorsi? Chi ne considerò le parole e le sentì?
19 Look, Yahweh's hurricane, his wrath, bursts out, a fearsome hurricane, to burst on the heads of thewicked;	19 Ecco il turbine dello sdegno del Signore si scatenerà, e la tempesta travolgente piomberà sopra il capo degli empi.
20 Yahweh's anger wil not withdraw until he has performed, has carried out, what he has in mind. In thefinal days, you wil understand this clearly,	20 Lo sdegno del Signore non tornerà indietro finché non abbia eseguiti e compiti i disegni del suo cuore: il suo disegno lo capirete negli ultimi giorni.
21 'I did not send these prophets, yet they ran! I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied!	21 Io non mandavo questi profeti, ed essi correvano, io non parlavo loro, ed essi profetavano.
22 Had they been present in my council, they could have proclaimed my words to my people and turnedthem from their evil way and from the wickedness of their deeds!	22 Se avessero assistito al mio consiglio ed avessero fatto conoscere al mio popolo le mie parole, li avrei certamente fatti tornare indietro dalla loro cattiva strada, dalle loro pessime azioni.
23 'Am I a God when near, Yahweh demands, and not a God when far away?	23 Credi tu ch'io sia Dio da vicino — dice il Signore — e non sia Dio da lontano?
24 Can anyone hide somewhere secret without my seeing him? Yahweh demands. Do I not fil heavenand earth? Yahweh demands.	24 Se un uomo si nascondesse in luoghi occulti, io non lo vedrò — dice il Signore? — Non son io che riempio il cielo e la terra — dice il Signore? —
25 'I have heard what the prophets say who make their lying prophecies in my name. "I have had adream," they say, "I have had a dream!"	25 Ho sentito quello che dicono questi profeti che in nome mio profetizzano menzogne, e dicono: — Ho sognato, ho sognato! —
26 How long are there to be those among the prophets who prophesy lies and are in fact prophets oftheir own delusions?	26 E fino a quando questi profeti avranno in cuore di profetizzar menzogne, di vaticinar le imposture del loro cuore?
27 They are doing their best, by means of the dreams that they keep tel ing each other, to make mypeople forget my name, just as their ancestors forgot my name in favour of Baal.	27 Essi voglion far si che il mio popolo si dimentichi del mio nome per i sogni che ognun di essi racconta al suo prossimo, come i loro padri dimenticarono il mio nome per Baal.
28 Let the prophet who has had a dream tel it for a dream! And let him who receives a word from me,deliver my word accurately! 'What have straw and wheat in common? Yahweh demands.	28 Il profeta che ha un sogno racconti un sogno, e chi ha la mia parola riferisca con fedeltà la mia parola. Che han che fare le paglie col grano — dice il Signore? —
29 Is my word not like fire, Yahweh demands, is it not like a hammer shattering a rock?	29 Non son forse le mie parole come fuoco, — dice il Signore — qual martello che stritola la pietra?
30 'So, then, I have a quarrel with the prophets, Yahweh declares, that steal my words from one another.	30 Per questo, eccomi ai profeti — dice il Signore — che rubano le mie parole, ciascuno dal suo prossimo.
31 I have a quarrel with the prophets, Yahweh declares, who wag their tongues to utter prophecies.	31 Eccomi ai profeti — dice il Signore — che prendono ciò che vien loro sulla lingua e dicono: « Parla il Signore »;
32 I have a quarrel with the prophets who make prophecies out of lying dreams, Yahweh declares, whorecount them, and lead my people astray by their lies and their bragging. I certainly never sent them orcommissioned them, and they serve no good purpose for this people, Yahweh declares.	32 eccomi ai profeti che sognano menzogne — dice il Signore — e le raccontano e seducono il popolo colle loro menzogne e coi loro miracoli, che io non ho mandati, a cui non ho dato ordini e che nulla di bene han fatto a questo popolo — dice il Signore.
33 'And when this people, or a prophet, or a priest, asks you, "What is Yahweh's burden?" you mustanswer, "You are the burden, and I shal get rid of you, Yahweh declares!"	33 Or se questo popolo o un profeta o un sacerdote t'interrogherà, dicendo: « Qual'è il peso del Signore? » tu risponderai loro: « Voi, siete il peso, per questo vi getterò via » — dice il Signore.
34 'As for the prophet, the priest, or anyone else, who says, "Yahweh's burden", I shall punish that man,and his household too.	34 Il profeta, il sacerdote, il popolo che dice: « Peso del Signore » io lo castigherò, lui e la sua casa.
35 This is what you must say to one another, among yourselves, "What answer has Yahweh given?" or"What has Yahweh said?"	35 Ognun di voi dirà al suo prossimo, al suo fratello: « Che ha risposto il Signore, che ha detto il Signore? »
36 But stop using the expression "Yahweh's burden", for what each man says will be his ownresponsibility. And you twist the words of the living God, of Yahweh Sabaoth, our God.	36 E non sarà più ripetuto: « Peso del Signore », perchè il peso di ciascuno sarà la sua parola, perchè voi cambiate senso alle parole del Dio vivente, del Signore degli eserciti, Dio nostro.
37 This is the way to speak to a prophet, "What answer has Yahweh given?" or "What has Yahwehsaid?"	37 Ecco quanto devi dire al profeta: « Che t'ha risposto il Signore, che ha detto il Signore? »
38 But if you say, "Yahweh's burden", then Yahweh says this, "Since you use the expression 'Yahweh'sburden', when I have warned you to stop saying, 'Yahweh's burden',	38 Or se voi dite: « Peso del Signore », allora il Signore parla cosi: — Perchè voi dite questa parola: « Peso del Signore » dopo che io v'ho mandato a dire: « Non dite: Peso del Signore »,
39 believe me, I shal pick you up and fling you from my presence, you and the city I gave to you and toyour ancestors.	39 per questo io farò di voi un carico e vi porterò via, vi abbandonerò lungi dalla mia faccia, voi e la città da me data a voi e ai vostri padri.
40 I shal bring down everlasting shame on you, everlasting and unforgettable disgrace." '	40 E vi abbandonerò ad eterno obbrobrio, ad eterna ignominia che non sarà mai dimenticata.
