Jeremiah 22

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Yahweh said this, 'Go down to the palace of the king of Judah and there say this word,	1 Così dice il Signore: "Scendi nella casa del re di Giuda e ivi pronunzierai questa parola.
2 "Listen to the word of Yahweh, king of Judah now occupying the throne of David, you, your officials andyour people who go through these gates.	2 Dirai: Ascolta la parola del Signore, o re di Giuda che siedi sul trono di Davide, tu e i tuoi ministri e tutto il popolo che vengono a queste porte.
3 Yahweh says this: Act uprightly and justly; rescue from the hands of the oppressor anyone who hasbeen wronged, do not exploit or il -treat the stranger, the orphan, the widow; shed no innocent blood in thisplace.	3 Così dice il Signore: Agite con rettitudine e giustizia e liberate il derubato dalla mano dell'oppressore; non angariate e non opprimete il forestiero, l'orfano e la vedova; non spargete sangue innocente in questo luogo.
4 For if you are scrupulous in obeying this command, then kings occupying the throne of David willcontinue to make their entry through the gates of this palace riding in chariots or on horseback, they, theirofficials and their people.	4 Poiché se voi metterete in pratica questa parola, allora entreranno per le porte di questa casa i re che siedono in luogo di Davide sul suo trono, che cavalcano carri e cavalli, essi e i loro ministri e il loro popolo.
5 But if you do not listen to these words, then I swear by myself, Yahweh declares, this palace shalbecome a ruin!	5 Ma se non ascolterete questa parola, io giuro per me stesso, oracolo del Signore, che questa casa sarà data alla distruzione.
6 "Yes, this is what Yahweh says about the palace of the king of Judah: You are like Gilead to me, like apeak of Lebanon. Al the same, I wil reduce you to a desert, to uninhabited towns.	6 Sì, così parla il Signore contro la casa del re di Giuda: Come un Gàlaad tu sei per me, una vetta del Libano: eppure ti ridurrò un deserto, città senza abitanti.
7 I dedicate men to destroy you, each man with his weapons; they will cut down your finest cedars andthrow them on the fire.	7 Io santificherò contro di te i distruttori, gli uomini e i loro armenti, e distruggeranno i tuoi cedri eletti e li getteranno al fuoco.
8 "And when many nations pass this city, they wil say to one another: Why has Yahweh treated thisgreat city like this?	8 Molte nazioni passeranno attraverso questa città e diranno l'una all'altra: "Perché ha agito così il Signore contro questa grande città?".
9 And the answer wil be: Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh their God to worship othergods and serve them." '	9 E risponderanno: "Perché hanno abbandonato l'alleanza del Signore, Dio loro, e si sono prostrati ad altri dèi e li hanno adorati".
10 Do not weep for the man who is dead, do not raise the dirge for him. Weep rather for the one who hasgone away, since he wil never come back, never see his native land again.	10 Non piangete sul morto né fate lamento per lui; piangete, piangete per chi parte, che più non tornerà né vedrà la sua terra nativa!".
11 For this is what Yahweh has said about Shallum son of Josiah, king of Judah, who succeeded Josiahhis father and was forced to leave this place, 'He wil never come back to it	11 Sì! Così dice il Signore a Sallùm, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda, re al posto di Giosia suo padre: "Chi esce da questo luogo non vi tornerà più;
12 but wil die in the place to which he has been taken captive; and he wil never see this country again.	12 ma nel luogo dove lo deporteranno, ivi morrà e questa terra non rivedrà più".
13 'Disaster for the man who builds his house without uprightness, his upstairs rooms without fairjudgement, who makes his fel ow-man work for nothing, without paying him his wages,	13 Guai a chi edifica la sua casa senza giustizia e i piani superiori senza diritto; chi fa lavorare il suo prossimo gratuitamente e non gli retribuisce il suo lavoro!
14 who says, "I shal build myself a spacious palace with airy upstairs rooms," who makes windows in it,panels it with cedar, and paints it vermilion.	14 Che dice: "Mi costruirò una casa spaziosa e camere ventilate", che apre finestre e le intelaia di cedro e le pittura di rosso.
15 Are you more of a king because of your passion for cedar? Did your father go hungry or thirsty? Buthe did what is just and upright, so al went wel for him.	15 Pensi, forse, di essere re perché gareggi con il cedro? Tuo padre, forse, non ha mangiato e bevuto? 17 You on the other hand have eyes and heart for nothing but your own interests, for shedding innocentblood and perpetrating violence and oppression.'	17 Invece, non sono gli occhi tuoi e il tuo cuore se non per il tuo guadagno e per versare sangue innocente e per operare oppressione e violenza.
18 That is why Yahweh says this about Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah: 'No lamenting for him,"My poor brother! My poor sister!" No lamenting for him, "His poor lordship! His poor majesty!"	18 Perciò, così dice il Signore a Ioiakìm, figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda: "Non faranno lamento per lui: "Ahi, fratello mio! Ahi, sorella mia!". Non faranno lamento per lui: "Ahi, signore! Ahi, maestà!".
19 He wil have a donkey's funeral -- dragged away and thrown out of the gates of Jerusalem.'	19 Con sepoltura d'asino lo si seppellirà trascinandolo e gettandolo fuori delle porte di Gerusalemme".
20 'Climb the Lebanon range and shriek, raise your voice in Bashan, shriek from the Abarim, for al yourlovers have been ruined!	20 Ascendi sul Libano e grida, sul Basàn rimbombi la tua voce; grida pure dagli Abarim poiché son fatti a pezzi tutti gli amanti tuoi.
21 I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, "I wil not listen!" From your youth this has been howyou behaved, refusing to listen to my voice.	21 Ti ho parlato quando tu eri tranquilla; tu dicesti: "Non ascolto!". Questa fu la tua condotta fin dalla tua giovinezza: non hai ascoltato la mia voce!
22 The wind will shepherd al your shepherds away and your lovers wil go into captivity. Then you wilblush deep with shame at the thought of al your wickedness.	22 Tutti i pastori tuoi li pascolerà il vento e i tuoi amanti andranno in prigionia. Allora arrossirai e ti confonderai di tutta la tua malvagità.
23 You who have made the Lebanon your home and made your nest among the cedars, how you wilgroan when anguish overtakes you, pangs like those of a woman in labour!	23 Tu che abiti nel Libano, che nidifichi tra i cedri, quanto gemerai quando ti arriveranno le doglie, doglie di partoriente!
24 'As I live, Yahweh declares, even if Coniah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, were the signet ring onmy right hand, I would stil wrench you off!	24 Per la mia vita, oracolo del Signore, anche se Conìa, figlio di Ioiakìm, re di Giuda, fosse un anello nella mia mano destra, di là io ti strapperei!
25 I shal hand you over to those determined to kill you, to those you dread, to Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, to the Chaldaeans.	25 Io ti consegnerò in potere di chi cerca la tua vita e in potere di coloro dinanzi ai quali hai spavento, cioè di Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, e in potere dei Caldei.
26 I shal hurl you and the mother who bore you into another country; you were not born there but youwil both die there.	26 Io scaglierò te e tua madre, che ti ha generato, sopra una terra straniera dove tu non sei nato e ivi morrai.
27 They wil not return to the country to which they desperately long to return.'	27 Quanto, poi, al paese dove essi desiderano ardentemente ritornare, non vi torneranno.
28 Is he a shoddy broken pot, this man Coniah, a crock that no one wants? Why are he and his offspringejected, hurled into a country they know nothing of?	28 E', forse, un vaso spregevole da essere spezzato quest'uomo, Conìa, o uno strumento senza alcun valore? 29 O land, land, land, listen to the word of Yahweh!	29 Terra, terra, terra: ascolta la parola del Signore!
30 Yahweh says this, 'List this man as: Childless; a man who made a failure of his life, since none of hisoffspring wil succeed in occupying the throne of David, or ruling in Judah again.'	30 Così dice il Signore: "Scrivete che quest'uomo è senza figli, uomo che non ha prosperato nei suoi giorni; che nessuno della sua discendenza prospererà, nessuno siederà sul trono di Davide né dominerà più in Giuda!".
