Jeremiah 22

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Yahweh said this, 'Go down to the palace of the king of Judah and there say this word,	1 Yahveh dijo así: Baja a la casa real de Judá y pronuncias allí estas palabras.
2 "Listen to the word of Yahweh, king of Judah now occupying the throne of David, you, your officials andyour people who go through these gates.	2 Dirás: Oye la palabra de Yahveh, tú, rey de Judá, que ocupas el trono de David, y tus servidores y pueblo - los que entran por estas puertas -.
3 Yahweh says this: Act uprightly and justly; rescue from the hands of the oppressor anyone who hasbeen wronged, do not exploit or il -treat the stranger, the orphan, the widow; shed no innocent blood in thisplace.	3 Así dice Yahveh: Practicad el derecho y la justicia, librad al oprimido de manos del opresor, y al forastero, al huérfano y a la viuda no atropelléis; no hagáis violencia ni derraméis sangre inocente en este lugar.
4 For if you are scrupulous in obeying this command, then kings occupying the throne of David willcontinue to make their entry through the gates of this palace riding in chariots or on horseback, they, theirofficials and their people.	4 Porque si ponéis en práctica esta palabra, entonces seguirán entrando por las puertas de esta casa reyes sucesores de David en el trono, montados en carros y caballos, junto con sus servidores y su pueblo.
5 But if you do not listen to these words, then I swear by myself, Yahweh declares, this palace shalbecome a ruin!	5 Mas si no oís estas palabras, por mí mismo os juro - oráculo de Yahveh - que en ruinas parará esta casa.
6 "Yes, this is what Yahweh says about the palace of the king of Judah: You are like Gilead to me, like apeak of Lebanon. Al the same, I wil reduce you to a desert, to uninhabited towns.	6 Pues así dice Yahveh respecto a la casa real de Judá: Galaad eras tú para mí, cumbre del Líbano: pero ¡vaya si te trocaré en desierto, en ciudades deshabitadas!
7 I dedicate men to destroy you, each man with his weapons; they will cut down your finest cedars andthrow them on the fire.	7 Voy a consagrar contra ti a quienes te destruyan: ¡cada uno a sus hachas! Talarán lo selecto de tus cedros, y lo arrojarán al fuego.
8 "And when many nations pass this city, they wil say to one another: Why has Yahweh treated thisgreat city like this?	8 Muchas gentes pasarán a la vera de esta ciudad y dirán cada cual a su prójimo: «¿Por qué ha hecho Yahveh semejante cosa a esta gran ciudad?»
9 And the answer wil be: Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh their God to worship othergods and serve them." '	9 Y les dirán: «Es porque dejaron la alianza de su Dios Yahveh, y adoraron a otros dioses y les sirvieron».
10 Do not weep for the man who is dead, do not raise the dirge for him. Weep rather for the one who hasgone away, since he wil never come back, never see his native land again.	10 No lloréis al muerto ni plañáis por él: llorad, llorad por el que se va, porque jamás volverá ni verá su patria.
11 For this is what Yahweh has said about Shallum son of Josiah, king of Judah, who succeeded Josiahhis father and was forced to leave this place, 'He wil never come back to it	11 Pues así dice Yahveh respecto a Sallum, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá y sucesor de su padre Josías en el reino, el cual salió de este lugar: «No volverá más aquí,
12 but wil die in the place to which he has been taken captive; and he wil never see this country again.	12 sino que en el lugar a donde le deportaron, allí mismo morirá, y no verá jamás este país».
13 'Disaster for the man who builds his house without uprightness, his upstairs rooms without fairjudgement, who makes his fel ow-man work for nothing, without paying him his wages,	13 ¡Ay del que edifica su casa sin justicia y sus pisos sin derecho! De su prójimo se sirve de balde y su trabajo no le paga.
14 who says, "I shal build myself a spacious palace with airy upstairs rooms," who makes windows in it,panels it with cedar, and paints it vermilion.	14 El que dice: «Voy a edificarme una casa espaciosa y pisos ventilados», y le abre sus correspondientes ventanas; pone paneles de cedro y los pinta de rojo.
15 Are you more of a king because of your passion for cedar? Did your father go hungry or thirsty? Buthe did what is just and upright, so al went wel for him.	15 ¿Serás acaso rey porque seas un apasionado del cedro? Tu padre, ¿no comía y bebía? - «También hizo justicia y equidad». - Pues mejor para él.
16 He used to examine the cases of poor and needy, then al went wel . Is not that what it means to knowme? Yahweh demands.	16 «- Juzgó la causa del cuitado y del pobrecillo». - Pues mejor. ¿No es esto conocerme? - oráculo de Yahveh -.
17 You on the other hand have eyes and heart for nothing but your own interests, for shedding innocentblood and perpetrating violence and oppression.'	17 Pero tus ojos y tu corazón no están más que a tu granjería, - ¡Y a la sangre inocente! - Para verterla. - ¡Y al atropello y al entuerto! - Para hacer tú lo propio.
18 That is why Yahweh says this about Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah: 'No lamenting for him,"My poor brother! My poor sister!" No lamenting for him, "His poor lordship! His poor majesty!"	18 Por tanto, así dice Yahveh respecto a Yoyaquim, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá: No plañirán por él: «¡Ay hermano mío!, ¡ay hermana mía!»; no plañirán por él: «¡Ay Señor!, ¡ay su Majestad!»
19 He wil have a donkey's funeral -- dragged away and thrown out of the gates of Jerusalem.'	19 El entierro de un borrico será el suyo: arrastrarlo y tirarlo fuera de las puertas de Jerusalén.
20 'Climb the Lebanon range and shriek, raise your voice in Bashan, shriek from the Abarim, for al yourlovers have been ruined!	20 Sube al Líbano y clama, por Basán da voces y clama desde Abarim, porque han sido quebrantados todos tus amantes.
21 I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, "I wil not listen!" From your youth this has been howyou behaved, refusing to listen to my voice.	21 Te había hablado en tu prosperidad. Dijiste: «No oigo». Tal ha sido tu costumbre desde tu mocedad, nunca oíste mi voz.
22 The wind will shepherd al your shepherds away and your lovers wil go into captivity. Then you wilblush deep with shame at the thought of al your wickedness.	22 A todos tus pastores les pastoreará el viento, y tus amantes cautivos irán. Entonces sí que estarás avergonzada y confusa de toda tu malicia.
23 You who have made the Lebanon your home and made your nest among the cedars, how you wilgroan when anguish overtakes you, pangs like those of a woman in labour!	23 Tú, que te asentabas en el Líbano, que anidabas en los cedros, ¡cómo suspirarás, en viniéndote los dolores, el trance como de parturienta!
24 'As I live, Yahweh declares, even if Coniah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, were the signet ring onmy right hand, I would stil wrench you off!	24 Por mi vida - oráculo de Yahveh -, aunque fuese Konías, el hijo de Yoyaquim, rey de Judá, un sello en mi mano diestra, de allí te arrancaría.
25 I shal hand you over to those determined to kill you, to those you dread, to Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, to the Chaldaeans.	25 Yo te pondré en manos de los que buscan tu muerte, y en manos de los que te atemorizan: en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y en manos de los caldeos;
26 I shal hurl you and the mother who bore you into another country; you were not born there but youwil both die there.	26 y te arrojaré a ti y a la madre que te engendró a otra tierra donde no habéis nacido, y allí moriréis.
27 They wil not return to the country to which they desperately long to return.'	27 Pero a la tierra a donde anhelan volver, no volverán.
28 Is he a shoddy broken pot, this man Coniah, a crock that no one wants? Why are he and his offspringejected, hurled into a country they know nothing of?	28 ¿Es algún trasto despreciable, roto, este individuo, Konías?; ¿quizá un objeto sin interés? Pues entonces, ¿por qué han sido arrojados él y su prole, y echados a una tierra, que no conocían?
29 O land, land, land, listen to the word of Yahweh!	29 ¡Tierra, tierra, tierra! oye la palabra de Yahveh.
30 Yahweh says this, 'List this man as: Childless; a man who made a failure of his life, since none of hisoffspring wil succeed in occupying the throne of David, or ruling in Judah again.'	30 Así dice Yahveh: Inscribid a este hombre: «Un sin hijos, un fracasado en la vida»; porque ninguno de su descendencia tendrá la suerte de sentarse en el trono de David y de ser jamás señor en Judá.
