Jeremiah 22

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 Yahweh said this, 'Go down to the palace of the king of Judah and there say this word,	1 Une parole de Yahvé me fut adressée: Descends au palais du roi de Juda, et là tu prononceras cette parole.
2 "Listen to the word of Yahweh, king of Judah now occupying the throne of David, you, your officials andyour people who go through these gates.	2 Tu diras: Écoute la parole de Yahvé, roi de Juda, toi qui sièges sur le trône de David. Toi, tes serviteurs et ton peuple qui passez par ces portes, écoutez!
3 Yahweh says this: Act uprightly and justly; rescue from the hands of the oppressor anyone who hasbeen wronged, do not exploit or il -treat the stranger, the orphan, the widow; shed no innocent blood in thisplace.	3 Voici ce que dit Yahvé: Pratiquez le droit et la justice, libérez celui qui est opprimé de la main de l’oppresseur! Ne faites pas violence, n’exploitez pas l’étranger, l’orphelin et la veuve; ne répandez pas en ce lieu le sang innocent.
4 For if you are scrupulous in obeying this command, then kings occupying the throne of David willcontinue to make their entry through the gates of this palace riding in chariots or on horseback, they, theirofficials and their people.	4 Si vous faites cela, des rois successeurs de David entreront par les portes de ce palais avec chars et chevaux, avec leurs serviteurs et leur peuple.
5 But if you do not listen to these words, then I swear by myself, Yahweh declares, this palace shalbecome a ruin!	5 Mais si vous n’écoutez pas ces paroles, je le jure par moi-même - parole de Yahvé - ce palais sera ruiné.
6 "Yes, this is what Yahweh says about the palace of the king of Judah: You are like Gilead to me, like apeak of Lebanon. Al the same, I wil reduce you to a desert, to uninhabited towns.	6 Car voici ce que dit Yahvé à propos de la maison de Juda: J’aimais te voir élevée, comme le pays de Galaad, comme le sommet du Liban. Mais je le jure, je vais faire de toi un désert, une ville sans habitants.
7 I dedicate men to destroy you, each man with his weapons; they will cut down your finest cedars andthrow them on the fire.	7 J’envoie contre toi des destructeurs, chacun avec ses outils; ils couperont tes plus beaux cèdres et les jetteront au feu.
8 "And when many nations pass this city, they wil say to one another: Why has Yahweh treated thisgreat city like this?	8 Quand les gens de toute nation passeront par cette ville, ils se diront l’un à l’autre: “Pourquoi Yahvé a-t-il traité ainsi cette grande ville?”
9 And the answer wil be: Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh their God to worship othergods and serve them." '	9 On répondra: “C’est parce qu’ils ont abandonné l’Alliance de Yahvé leur Dieu et qu’ils se sont prosternés devant d’autres dieux pour les servir.”
10 Do not weep for the man who is dead, do not raise the dirge for him. Weep rather for the one who hasgone away, since he wil never come back, never see his native land again.	10 Ne pleurez pas celui qui est mort, ne vous lamentez pas sur lui; pleurez, pleurez plutôt celui qui est parti et qui ne reviendra plus, car il ne reverra pas le pays où il est né!
11 For this is what Yahweh has said about Shallum son of Josiah, king of Judah, who succeeded Josiahhis father and was forced to leave this place, 'He wil never come back to it	11 Voici en effet ce que dit Yahvé à propos de Challoum, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, qui a régné à la place de son père et a dû quitter ce lieu: “Il n’y reviendra pas”.
12 but wil die in the place to which he has been taken captive; and he wil never see this country again.	12 Il mourra là où on l’a emmené prisonnier, il ne reverra jamais ce pays!
13 'Disaster for the man who builds his house without uprightness, his upstairs rooms without fairjudgement, who makes his fel ow-man work for nothing, without paying him his wages,	13 Malheur à celui qui construit son palais de façon malhonnête, et se fait des terrasses en ne respectant pas les droits! Malheur à celui qui fait travailler son prochain pour rien, sans lui verser le prix de son travail!
14 who says, "I shal build myself a spacious palace with airy upstairs rooms," who makes windows in it,panels it with cedar, and paints it vermilion.	14 Il se dit: “Je vais construire un palais grandiose avec de belles terrasses”. Il y perce des fenêtres, il le couvre d’un plafond de cèdre et le décore de peintures…
15 Are you more of a king because of your passion for cedar? Did your father go hungry or thirsty? Buthe did what is just and upright, so al went wel for him.	15 Crois-tu qu’il faille tant de cèdre pour être roi? Ton père n’a-t-il pas eu à manger et à boire? Et tout allait bien pour lui! Mais il pratiquait le droit et la justice,
16 He used to examine the cases of poor and needy, then al went wel . Is not that what it means to knowme? Yahweh demands.	16 il jugeait la cause du pauvre et du petit. N’est-ce pas cela me connaître? - parole de Yahvé.
17 You on the other hand have eyes and heart for nothing but your own interests, for shedding innocentblood and perpetrating violence and oppression.'	17 Mais tu ne vois et ne connais que ton propre intérêt, tu répands le sang innocent et tu maintiens l’oppression et la violence.
18 That is why Yahweh says this about Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah: 'No lamenting for him,"My poor brother! My poor sister!" No lamenting for him, "His poor lordship! His poor majesty!"	18 C’est pourquoi voici ce que dit Yahvé au sujet de Joïaqim fils de Josias, roi de Juda: On ne dira pas sur lui la lamentation: Hélas mon frère, hélas ma sœur! On ne dira pas sur lui la lamentation: Hélas mon seigneur, hélas majesté!
19 He wil have a donkey's funeral -- dragged away and thrown out of the gates of Jerusalem.'	19 Mais il sera enterré comme on enterre un âne: traîné dehors et jeté au-delà des portes de Jérusalem.
20 'Climb the Lebanon range and shriek, raise your voice in Bashan, shriek from the Abarim, for al yourlovers have been ruined!	20 Monte sur le Liban et crie, fais entendre ta voix dans le Bashan, pousse des cris du haut des Abarim, car tous tes amants ont été écrasés.
21 I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, "I wil not listen!" From your youth this has been howyou behaved, refusing to listen to my voice.	21 Je t’ai parlé quand tout allait bien mais tu as répondu: Je n’écouterai pas. C’est ainsi que tu t’es comportée depuis ta jeunesse; tu n’as pas écouté ma voix.
22 The wind will shepherd al your shepherds away and your lovers wil go into captivity. Then you wilblush deep with shame at the thought of al your wickedness.	22 Tu as tes bergers? Le vent les enverra paître; tes amants partiront en captivité. Ta mauvaise conduite ne te rapportera que la honte et le mépris.
23 You who have made the Lebanon your home and made your nest among the cedars, how you wilgroan when anguish overtakes you, pangs like those of a woman in labour!	23 Toi qui habites le Liban et qui places ton repaire au milieu des cèdres, tu gémiras lorsque les douleurs viendront sur toi, une angoisse comme celle d’une femme qui accouche.
24 'As I live, Yahweh declares, even if Coniah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, were the signet ring onmy right hand, I would stil wrench you off!	24 Je suis vivant! - parole de Yahvé. Même si Jékonias fils de Joïaqim, roi de Juda, était un anneau à ma main droite, je l’en retirerais.
25 I shal hand you over to those determined to kill you, to those you dread, to Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, to the Chaldaeans.	25 Voici que je te livre à ceux qui en veulent à ta vie et qui te font trembler.
26 I shal hurl you and the mother who bore you into another country; you were not born there but youwil both die there.	26 Toi et ta mère qui t’a mis au monde, je vous jette dans un autre pays où vous n’êtes pas nés, et c’est là que vous mourrez.
27 They wil not return to the country to which they desperately long to return.'	27 Ils ne reviendront pas au pays auquel ils ne cessaient de penser.
28 Is he a shoddy broken pot, this man Coniah, a crock that no one wants? Why are he and his offspringejected, hurled into a country they know nothing of?	28 Jékonias est-il donc un objet usé et cassé, un vase dont personne ne veut plus? Pourquoi ont-ils été enlevés, lui et sa race, et jetés sur une terre qu’ils ne connaissaient pas?
29 O land, land, land, listen to the word of Yahweh!	29 Terre, terre, terre, écoute la parole de Yahvé:
30 Yahweh says this, 'List this man as: Childless; a man who made a failure of his life, since none of hisoffspring wil succeed in occupying the throne of David, or ruling in Judah again.'	30 Inscrivez cet homme au nombre des sans-enfants: pas un de sa race ne réussira à remonter sur le trône de David, pour régner encore sur Juda.
