Jeremiah 22

1 Yahweh said this, 'Go down to the palace of the king of Judah and there say this word,	1 Queste cose dice il Signore: Va alla casa del re di Giuda, ed ivi dirai queste parole:
2 "Listen to the word of Yahweh, king of Judah now occupying the throne of David, you, your officials andyour people who go through these gates.	2 Ascolta la Parola del Signore, o re di Giuda, che siedi sul trono di David de; tu, e i tuoi servitori, e il popol tuo, che entra per queste porte.
3 Yahweh says this: Act uprightly and justly; rescue from the hands of the oppressor anyone who hasbeen wronged, do not exploit or il -treat the stranger, the orphan, the widow; shed no innocent blood in thisplace.	3 Queste cose dice il Signore: Rendete ragione, e fate giustizia, e liberate dalle mani del calunniatore gli oppressi per prepotenza: e non affliggete, e non opprimete iniquamente il forestiero, e il pupillo, e la vedova: e non spargete in questo luogo il sangue innocente.
4 For if you are scrupulous in obeying this command, then kings occupying the throne of David willcontinue to make their entry through the gates of this palace riding in chariots or on horseback, they, theirofficials and their people.	4 Imperocché se veramente farete così, entreranno per le porte di questa casa i re della stirpe di David a sedere sul trono di lui, e saliranno su' cocchi, e sui cavalli eglino, e i loro servitori, e il loro popolo.
5 But if you do not listen to these words, then I swear by myself, Yahweh declares, this palace shalbecome a ruin!	5 Che se voi non ascolterete queste parole, per me stesso io giuro, dice il Signore, che onesta casa sarà desolata.
6 "Yes, this is what Yahweh says about the palace of the king of Judah: You are like Gilead to me, like apeak of Lebanon. Al the same, I wil reduce you to a desert, to uninhabited towns.	6 Imperocché ecco quello, che dice il Signore intorno alla casa del re di Giuda: o Galaad, tu a me sei la testa del Libano: io giuro, che renderò te un deserto (come) le disabitate città.
7 I dedicate men to destroy you, each man with his weapons; they will cut down your finest cedars andthrow them on the fire.	7 E io contro di te santificherò l'uomo uccisore, e le armi sue: e troncheranno gli eletti tuoi cedri, e li getteranno sul fuoco.
8 "And when many nations pass this city, they wil say to one another: Why has Yahweh treated thisgreat city like this?	8 E passerà molta gente per questa città, e dirà l'uno al suo compagno: Per qual motivo è stata trattata così dal Signore questa grande città?
9 And the answer wil be: Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh their God to worship othergods and serve them." '	9 E sarà loro risposto: Perchè mancarono alla alleanza del Signore Dio loro, e adorarono dei stranieri, e servirono a questi.
10 Do not weep for the man who is dead, do not raise the dirge for him. Weep rather for the one who hasgone away, since he wil never come back, never see his native land again.	10 Non piangete il morto, né menate duolo a causa di lui; ma piangete quello, che parte: perocché egli più non tornerà, e non vedrà la terra, dov'egli nacque:
11 For this is what Yahweh has said about Shallum son of Josiah, king of Judah, who succeeded Josiahhis father and was forced to leave this place, 'He wil never come back to it	11 Imperocché cosi parla il Signore a Sellum figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda, il quale ha regnato invece di Giosia suo padre, che andò via da questo luogo. Egli non ritornerà qua mai più:
12 but wil die in the place to which he has been taken captive; and he wil never see this country again.	12 Ma nel luogo, dov' io lo ho tra portato, ivi morrà, e non vedrà mai più questa terra.
13 'Disaster for the man who builds his house without uprightness, his upstairs rooms without fairjudgement, who makes his fel ow-man work for nothing, without paying him his wages,	13 Guai a colui, che edifica la sua casa sull'ingiustizia, e i suoi appartamenti non sull'equità: che angaria senza ragione il suo prossimo, né gli darà la mercede.
14 who says, "I shal build myself a spacious palace with airy upstairs rooms," who makes windows in it,panels it with cedar, and paints it vermilion.	14 Il quale va dicendo: Io mi fabbricherò una casa vasta, e grandiosi appartamenti, e vi fa le finestre, e le soffitte di cedro, le quali fa dipingere col minio.
15 Are you more of a king because of your passion for cedar? Did your father go hungry or thirsty? Buthe did what is just and upright, so al went wel for him.	15 Forse che tu regnerai, perchè al cedro ti paragoni? Il padre tuo non mangiò egli, e bevve, e rendeva ragione, e facea giustizia, mentre era in prosperità?
16 He used to examine the cases of poor and needy, then al went wel . Is not that what it means to knowme? Yahweh demands.	16 Giudicò la causa del povero, e del mendico con suo gran prò: e ciò non fu egli, perchè ei conobbe me, dice il Signore?
17 You on the other hand have eyes and heart for nothing but your own interests, for shedding innocentblood and perpetrating violence and oppression.'	17 Ma gli occhi tuoi, e il cuor tuo mirano all'avarizia, e a spargere il sangue innocente, e a ordire calunnie, e a correre al male.
18 That is why Yahweh says this about Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah: 'No lamenting for him,"My poor brother! My poor sister!" No lamenting for him, "His poor lordship! His poor majesty!"	18 Per questo così parla il Signorea Joachim figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda: Non lo piangeranno, dicendo: Infelice fratello, e sorella infelice: né grideranno: Ahi, Signore, ahi, inclito re.
19 He wil have a donkey's funeral -- dragged away and thrown out of the gates of Jerusalem.'	19 Avrà sepoltura simile a quella dell'asino; sarà gittato a marcire fuor delle porte di Gerusalemme.
20 'Climb the Lebanon range and shriek, raise your voice in Bashan, shriek from the Abarim, for al yourlovers have been ruined!	20 Sali sul Libano, e grida; e in Basan alza la tua voce, e grida a quegli, che passano; che tutti i tuoi amatori sono annichilati.
21 I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, "I wil not listen!" From your youth this has been howyou behaved, refusing to listen to my voice.	21 Io ti parlai nella tua prosperità; e tu dicesti: Non darò retta: questo e il tuo stile fin dalla tua adolescenza, di non ascoltar la mia voce.
22 The wind will shepherd al your shepherds away and your lovers wil go into captivity. Then you wilblush deep with shame at the thought of al your wickedness.	22 Tutti i pastori tuoi si pasceranno di vento; e i tuoi amatori anderanno in ischiavitù e allora tu sarai confusa, e ti vergognerai di tua grande malizia.
23 You who have made the Lebanon your home and made your nest among the cedars, how you wilgroan when anguish overtakes you, pangs like those of a woman in labour!	23 Tu, che siedi sul Libano, e fai tuo nido sui cedri, in qual maniera gemerai quando ti verranno i dolori, come quelli di donna nel parto?
24 'As I live, Yahweh declares, even if Coniah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, were the signet ring onmy right hand, I would stil wrench you off!	24 Io giuro, dice il Signore; che se Jeconia figliuolo di Joachim, re di Giuda, fosse anello della mia mano destra, io me lo strapperei di lì.
25 I shal hand you over to those determined to kill you, to those you dread, to Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, to the Chaldaeans.	25 E ti darò in potere di que', che cercano la tua morte, e in mano di quegli, de' quali la vista ti fa paura, in mano di Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia, e in mano de' Caldei.
26 I shal hurl you and the mother who bore you into another country; you were not born there but youwil both die there.	26 E manderò te, e la madre tua, che ti ha generato, in paese straniero, dove voi non siete nati, e dove morrete.
27 They wil not return to the country to which they desperately long to return.'	27 E in quella terra, a cui aspira l'anima loro di ritornare, non torneranno.
28 Is he a shoddy broken pot, this man Coniah, a crock that no one wants? Why are he and his offspringejected, hurled into a country they know nothing of?	28 E egli quest'uomo, Jeconia un vaso di terra spezzato? E egli un vaso, che non piaccia a nissuno: Per qual motivo sono stati ripudiati egli, e la sua stirpe, e gettati in una terra, ch'ei non conoscevano?
29 O land, land, land, listen to the word of Yahweh!	29 Terra, terra, terra, odi la Parola del Signore.
30 Yahweh says this, 'List this man as: Childless; a man who made a failure of his life, since none of hisoffspring wil succeed in occupying the throne of David, or ruling in Judah again.'	30 Queste cose dice il Signore: quest'uomo scrivilo sterile, uomo, che ne' giorni suoi non avrà prosperità: né alcun vi sarà di sua stirpe, che segga sul trono di David, ed abbia mai più potestà in Giuda.
