Jeremiah 22

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Yahweh said this, 'Go down to the palace of the king of Judah and there say this word,	1 Ainsi parla Yahvé: Descends au palais du roi de Juda; là, tu prononceras cette parole:
2 "Listen to the word of Yahweh, king of Judah now occupying the throne of David, you, your officials andyour people who go through these gates.	2 Ecoute la parole de Yahvé, ô roi de Juda qui sièges sur le trône de David, toi, ainsi que tesserviteurs et tes gens qui entrent par ces portes.
3 Yahweh says this: Act uprightly and justly; rescue from the hands of the oppressor anyone who hasbeen wronged, do not exploit or il -treat the stranger, the orphan, the widow; shed no innocent blood in thisplace.	3 Ainsi parle Yahvé: Pratiquez le droit et la justice; tirez l'exploité des mains de l'oppresseur;l'étranger, l'orphelin et la veuve, ne les maltraitez pas, ne les outragez pas; le sang innocent, ne le versez pas ence lieu.
4 For if you are scrupulous in obeying this command, then kings occupying the throne of David willcontinue to make their entry through the gates of this palace riding in chariots or on horseback, they, theirofficials and their people.	4 Car si vous vous appliquez à observer cette parole, alors, par les portes de ce palais, des roissiégeant sur le trône de David feront leur entrée, montés sur des chars et des chevaux, eux, leurs serviteurs etleurs gens.
5 But if you do not listen to these words, then I swear by myself, Yahweh declares, this palace shalbecome a ruin!	5 Mais si vous n'écoutez pas ces paroles, je le jure par moi-même - oracle de Yahvé - ce palaisdeviendra une ruine.
6 "Yes, this is what Yahweh says about the palace of the king of Judah: You are like Gilead to me, like apeak of Lebanon. Al the same, I wil reduce you to a desert, to uninhabited towns.	6 Oui, ainsi parle Yahvé au sujet du palais du roi de Juda: Tu es pour moi Galaad et la cime duLiban. Pourtant je vais te réduire en désert, en villes inhabitées.
7 I dedicate men to destroy you, each man with his weapons; they will cut down your finest cedars andthrow them on the fire.	7 Je voue contre toi des destructeurs, chacun avec ses armes; ils abattront les plus beaux de tescèdres et les jetteront au feu.
8 "And when many nations pass this city, they wil say to one another: Why has Yahweh treated thisgreat city like this?	8 Et quand des nations nombreuses passeront près de cette ville, les gens se diront entre eux:"Pourquoi Yahvé a-t-il traité de la sorte cette grande cité?"
9 And the answer wil be: Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh their God to worship othergods and serve them." '	9 On répondra: "C'est qu'ils ont abandonné l'alliance de Yahvé leur Dieu, pour se prosterner devantd'autres dieux et les servir."
10 Do not weep for the man who is dead, do not raise the dirge for him. Weep rather for the one who hasgone away, since he wil never come back, never see his native land again.	10 Ne pleurez pas celui qui est mort, ne le plaignez pas. Pleurez plutôt celui qui est parti, car il nereviendra plus, il ne verra plus son pays natal.
11 For this is what Yahweh has said about Shallum son of Josiah, king of Judah, who succeeded Josiahhis father and was forced to leave this place, 'He wil never come back to it	11 Car ainsi a parlé Yahvé au sujet de Shallum, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, qui régna à la place de sonpère Josias et dut quitter ce lieu: il n'y reviendra plus,
12 but wil die in the place to which he has been taken captive; and he wil never see this country again.	12 mais dans le lieu où on l'emmena prisonnier, il mourra; et ce pays-ci, jamais il ne le reverra.
13 'Disaster for the man who builds his house without uprightness, his upstairs rooms without fairjudgement, who makes his fel ow-man work for nothing, without paying him his wages,	13 Malheur à qui bâtit sa maison sans la justice et ses chambres hautes sans le droit, qui faittravailler son prochain pour rien et ne lui verse pas de salaire,
14 who says, "I shal build myself a spacious palace with airy upstairs rooms," who makes windows in it,panels it with cedar, and paints it vermilion.	14 qui se dit: "Je vais me bâtir un palais spacieux avec de vastes chambres hautes", qui y perce desouvertures, le recouvre de cèdre et le peint en rouge.
15 Are you more of a king because of your passion for cedar? Did your father go hungry or thirsty? Buthe did what is just and upright, so al went wel for him.	15 Règnes-tu parce que tu as la passion du cèdre? Ton père ne mangeait-il et ne buvait-il pas? Maisil pratiquait le droit et la justice! Alors, pour lui tout allait bien.
16 He used to examine the cases of poor and needy, then al went wel . Is not that what it means to knowme? Yahweh demands.	16 Il jugeait la cause du pauvre et du malheureux. Alors, tout allait bien. Me connaître, n'est-ce pascela? - oracle de Yahvé -
17 You on the other hand have eyes and heart for nothing but your own interests, for shedding innocentblood and perpetrating violence and oppression.'	17 Mais rien ne captive tes yeux et ton coeur sinon ton intérêt propre, le sang innocent à répandre,oppression et violence à perpétrer.
18 That is why Yahweh says this about Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah: 'No lamenting for him,"My poor brother! My poor sister!" No lamenting for him, "His poor lordship! His poor majesty!"	18 C'est pourquoi, ainsi parle Yahvé au sujet de Joiaqim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda. Pour lui, point delamentation: "Hélas! mon frère! Hélas! ô soeur!" Pour lui, point de lamentation: "Hélas! Seigneur! Hélas! saMajesté!"
19 He wil have a donkey's funeral -- dragged away and thrown out of the gates of Jerusalem.'	19 Il sera enterré comme on enterre un âne! Il sera traîné et jeté loin des portes de Jérusalem!
20 'Climb the Lebanon range and shriek, raise your voice in Bashan, shriek from the Abarim, for al yourlovers have been ruined!	20 Monte sur le Liban pour crier, sur le Bashân donne de la voix, crie du haut des Abarim, car toustes amants sont écrasés!
21 I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, "I wil not listen!" From your youth this has been howyou behaved, refusing to listen to my voice.	21 Je t'ai parlé au temps de ta sécurité; tu as dit: "Je n'écouterai pas!" Ce fut ton comportementdepuis ta jeunesse de ne pas écouter ma voix.
22 The wind will shepherd al your shepherds away and your lovers wil go into captivity. Then you wilblush deep with shame at the thought of al your wickedness.	22 Tous tes pasteurs, le vent les enverra paître et tes amants partiront en exil. Oui, tu seras alorshonteuse et rougissante de toute ta perversité.
23 You who have made the Lebanon your home and made your nest among the cedars, how you wilgroan when anguish overtakes you, pangs like those of a woman in labour!	23 Toi qui as établi ta demeure sur le Liban, ton nid parmi les cèdres, comme tu vas gémir quand desdouleurs te viendront, des affres, comme à celle qui accouche!
24 'As I live, Yahweh declares, even if Coniah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, were the signet ring onmy right hand, I would stil wrench you off!	24 Par ma vie - oracle de Yahvé - même si Konias, fils de Joiaqim, roi de Juda, était un anneau à mamain droite, je t'arracherais de là!
25 I shal hand you over to those determined to kill you, to those you dread, to Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, to the Chaldaeans.	25 Je vais te livrer aux mains de ceux qui en veulent à ta vie, aux mains de ceux qui te font trembler,aux mains de Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, et aux mains des Chaldéens.
26 I shal hurl you and the mother who bore you into another country; you were not born there but youwil both die there.	26 Je te jetterai, toi et ta mère qui t'as enfanté, dans un autre pays: vous n'y êtes pas nés mais vous ymourrez.
27 They wil not return to the country to which they desperately long to return.'	27 Et ce pays où ils désirent ardemment revenir, ils n'y reviendront pas!
28 Is he a shoddy broken pot, this man Coniah, a crock that no one wants? Why are he and his offspringejected, hurled into a country they know nothing of?	28 Est-ce un ustensile vil et cassé cet homme, ce Konias, est-ce un objet dont personne ne veut?Pourquoi sont-ils chassés, lui et sa race, jetés dans un pays qu'ils ne connaissaient point?
29 O land, land, land, listen to the word of Yahweh!	29 Terre! terre! terre! écoute la parole de Yahvé.
30 Yahweh says this, 'List this man as: Childless; a man who made a failure of his life, since none of hisoffspring wil succeed in occupying the throne of David, or ruling in Judah again.'	30 Ainsi parle Yahvé: Inscrivez cet homme: "Sans enfants, quelqu'un qui n'a pas réussi en sontemps." Car nul de sa race ne réussira à siéger sur le trône de David et à dominer en Juda.
