Jeremiah 22

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Yahweh said this, 'Go down to the palace of the king of Judah and there say this word,	1 Así habla el Señor: Baja a la casa del rey de Judá, y pronuncia allí esta palabra.
2 "Listen to the word of Yahweh, king of Judah now occupying the throne of David, you, your officials andyour people who go through these gates.	2 Tú dirás: Escucha la palabra del Señor, rey de Judá que te sientas en el trono de David, tú y también tus servidores y tu pueblo, que entran por estas puertas.
3 Yahweh says this: Act uprightly and justly; rescue from the hands of the oppressor anyone who hasbeen wronged, do not exploit or il -treat the stranger, the orphan, the widow; shed no innocent blood in thisplace.	3 Así habla el Señor: Practiquen el derecho y la justicia; libren al explotado de la mano del opresor; no maltraten ni hagan violencia al extranjero, al huérfano y a la viuda; no derramen sangre inocente en este lugar.
4 For if you are scrupulous in obeying this command, then kings occupying the throne of David willcontinue to make their entry through the gates of this palace riding in chariots or on horseback, they, theirofficials and their people.	4 Porque si ustedes cumplen realmente esta palabra, entonces, por las puertas de esta Casa, entrarán reyes que se sientan en el trono de David; entrarán montados en carros y caballos, ellos con sus servidores y su pueblo,
5 But if you do not listen to these words, then I swear by myself, Yahweh declares, this palace shalbecome a ruin!	5 Pero si ustedes no escuchan estas palabras, juro por mí mismo –oráculo del Señor– que esta Casa se convertirá en un montón de ruinas.
6 "Yes, this is what Yahweh says about the palace of the king of Judah: You are like Gilead to me, like apeak of Lebanon. Al the same, I wil reduce you to a desert, to uninhabited towns.	6 Porque así habla el Señor acerca de la casa real de Judá: Tú eras para mí como Galaad, como una cumbre del Líbano, pero juro que te convertiré en un desierto, en una ciudad deshabitada.
7 I dedicate men to destroy you, each man with his weapons; they will cut down your finest cedars andthrow them on the fire.	7 Consagraré contra ti destructores, cada uno con sus armas; ellos talarán tus cedros escogidos y los harán caer en el fuego.
8 "And when many nations pass this city, they wil say to one another: Why has Yahweh treated thisgreat city like this?	8 Numerosas naciones pasarán junto a esta ciudad, y se dirán unos a otros: «¿Por qué el Señor trató así a esta gran ciudad?».
9 And the answer wil be: Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh their God to worship othergods and serve them." '	9 Y se les responderá: «Porque abandonaron la alianza del Señor, su Dios, y los sirvieron».
10 Do not weep for the man who is dead, do not raise the dirge for him. Weep rather for the one who hasgone away, since he wil never come back, never see his native land again.	10 No lloren por el que está muerto ni se lamenten por él. Lloren más bien por el parte, porque él no volverá nunca más ni verá otra vez su país natal.
11 For this is what Yahweh has said about Shallum son of Josiah, king of Judah, who succeeded Josiahhis father and was forced to leave this place, 'He wil never come back to it	11 Porque así habla el Señor acerca de Salúm, hijo de Josías, Rey de Judá, que sucedió en el trono a su padre Josías: «El que salió de este lugar ya no regresará:
12 but wil die in the place to which he has been taken captive; and he wil never see this country again.	12 morirá en el lugar adonde ha sido deportado, no verá más que este país».
13 'Disaster for the man who builds his house without uprightness, his upstairs rooms without fairjudgement, who makes his fel ow-man work for nothing, without paying him his wages,	13 ¡Ay del que edifica su casa sin respetar la justicia y sus pisos altos sin respetar el derecho, del que hace trabajar de balde a su prójimo y no le remunera su trabajo!
14 who says, "I shal build myself a spacious palace with airy upstairs rooms," who makes windows in it,panels it with cedar, and paints it vermilion.	14 ¡Ay del que dice: «Me edificaré una casa espaciosa, con pisos altos bien aireados», y luego le abre ventanas, la recubre de cedro y la pinta de rojo vivo!
15 Are you more of a king because of your passion for cedar? Did your father go hungry or thirsty? Buthe did what is just and upright, so al went wel for him.	15 ¿Eres acaso rey porque ostentas la mejor madera de cedro? ¿Acaso tu padre no comía y bebía? Pero también practicaba el derecho y la justicia, y entonces todo lo iba bien.
16 He used to examine the cases of poor and needy, then al went wel . Is not that what it means to knowme? Yahweh demands.	16 El juzgaba la causa del pobre y del indigente, y entonces todo le iba bien. ¿No es eso conocerme? –oráculo del Señor–.
17 You on the other hand have eyes and heart for nothing but your own interests, for shedding innocentblood and perpetrating violence and oppression.'	17 Pero tú no tienes ojos ni corazón más que para tus ganancias, para derramar sangre inocente, para practicar la opresión y la violencia.
18 That is why Yahweh says this about Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah: 'No lamenting for him,"My poor brother! My poor sister!" No lamenting for him, "His poor lordship! His poor majesty!"	18 Por eso, así habla el Señor acerca de Joaquím, hijo de Josías, rey de Judá: ¡Pobre de ese hombre! Nadie se lamentará por él: «¡Ay, hermano mío! ¡Ay, hermana mía!». Nadie se lamentará por él: «¡Ay, señor! ¡Ay, su Majestad!».
19 He wil have a donkey's funeral -- dragged away and thrown out of the gates of Jerusalem.'	19 Será sepultado como un asno, será arrastrado y arrojado más allá de las puertas de Jerusalén.
20 'Climb the Lebanon range and shriek, raise your voice in Bashan, shriek from the Abarim, for al yourlovers have been ruined!	20 Sube hasta el Líbano y grita, levanta tu voz en Basán, grita desde los Abarím, porque todos tus amantes han sido destrozados!
21 I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, "I wil not listen!" From your youth this has been howyou behaved, refusing to listen to my voice.	21 Yo te hablé cuando estabas tranquila, pero tú dijiste: «¡No escucharé!». Este ha sido tu camino desde tu juventud: nunca has escuchado mi voz.
22 The wind will shepherd al your shepherds away and your lovers wil go into captivity. Then you wilblush deep with shame at the thought of al your wickedness.	22 A todos tus pastores los apacentará el viento, tus amantes irán al cautiverio; entonces quedarás avergonzada y confundida por toda tu maldad.
23 You who have made the Lebanon your home and made your nest among the cedars, how you wilgroan when anguish overtakes you, pangs like those of a woman in labour!	23 Tú, que habitas en el Líbano, que anidas entre los cedros, ¡cómo gemirás cuando te asalten los dolores y un temblor como de parturienta!
24 'As I live, Yahweh declares, even if Coniah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, were the signet ring onmy right hand, I would stil wrench you off!	24 ¡Lo juro por mi vida! –oráculo del Señor–: Aunque Conías, hijo de Joaquím, rey de Judá, fuera un anillo en mi mano derecha, de allí lo arrancaría.
25 I shal hand you over to those determined to kill you, to those you dread, to Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, to the Chaldaeans.	25 Yo entregaré en manos de los que atentan contra tu vida, en manos de los que tú más temes, en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y en manos de los caldeos.
26 I shal hurl you and the mother who bore you into another country; you were not born there but youwil both die there.	26 Yo te arrojaré, a ti y a tu madre que te dio a luz, a un país extraño, donde ustedes no han nacido, y allí morirán.
27 They wil not return to the country to which they desperately long to return.'	27 Pero al país al que ansían volver, allí no volverán.
28 Is he a shoddy broken pot, this man Coniah, a crock that no one wants? Why are he and his offspringejected, hurled into a country they know nothing of?	28 ¿Es este hombre, Conías, una vasija despreciable, rota, un objeto que ya nadie quiere? ¿Por qué él y su descendencia han sido arrojados, echados a un país que no conocían?
29 O land, land, land, listen to the word of Yahweh!	29 ¡Tierra, tierra, tierra! Escucha la palabra del Señor: Inscriban a este hombre: «Sin hijo, un fracasado en la vida», porque ninguno de su descendencia logrará sentarse en el trono de David ni seguir dominando en Judá.
30 Yahweh says this, 'List this man as: Childless; a man who made a failure of his life, since none of hisoffspring wil succeed in occupying the throne of David, or ruling in Judah again.'
