Jeremiah 13

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Yahweh said this to me, 'Go and buy a linen waistcloth and put it round your waist. But do not dip it inwater.'	1 Yahveh me dijo así: «Anda y cómprate una faja de lino y te la pones a la cintura, pero no la metas en agua».
2 And so, as Yahweh had ordered, I bought a waistcloth and put it round my waist.	2 Compré la faja, según la orden de Yahveh, y me la puse a la cintura.
3 A second time the word of Yahweh came to me,	3 Entonces me fue dirigida la palabra de Yahveh por la segunda vez:
4 'Take the waistcloth that you have bought and are wearing round your waist. Up, go to the Euphratesand hide it there in a hole in the rock.'	4 «Toma la faja que has comprado y que llevas a la cintura, levántate y vete al Eufrates y la escondes allí en un resquicio de la peña».
5 So I went and hid it by the Euphrates as Yahweh had ordered me.	5 Yo fui y la escondí en el Eufrates como me había mandado Yahveh.
6 A long time later, Yahweh said to me, 'Up, go to the Euphrates and fetch the waistcloth I ordered you tohide there.'	6 Al cabo de mucho tiempo me dijo Yahveh: «Levántate, vete al Eufrates y recoges de allí la faja que te mandé que escondieras allí».
7 So I went to the Euphrates, and I searched, and I took the waistcloth from the place where I had hiddenit. And there was the waistcloth ruined, no use for anything.	7 Yo fui al Eufrates, cavé, recogí la faja del sitio donde la había escondido y he aquí que se había echado a perder la faja: no valía para nada.
8 Then the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	8 Entonces me fue dirigida la palabra de Yahveh en estos términos:
9 'Yahweh says this, "In the same way I shal ruin the pride of Judah, the immense pride of Jerusalem.	9 «Así dice Yahveh: Del mismo modo echaré a perder la mucha soberbia de Judá y de Jerusalén.
10 This evil people, these people who refuse to listen to my words, who fol ow their own stubborninclinations and run after other gods, serving and worshipping them -- this people wil become like this waistcloth,no good for anything.	10 Ese pueblo malo que rehúsa oír mis palabras, que caminan según la terquedad de sus corazones y han ido en pos de otros dioses a servirles y adorarles, serán com esta faja que no vale para nada.
11 For just as a waistcloth clings to a man's waist, so I made the whole House of Israel and the wholeHouse of Judah cling to me, Yahweh declares, to be my people, my glory, my honour and my pride. But theyhave not listened."	11 Porque así como se pega la faja a la cintura de uno, de igual modo hice apegarse a mí a toda la casa de Israel y a toda la casa de Judá - oráculo de Yahveh - con idea de que fuesen mi pueblo, mi nombradía, mi loor y mi prez, pero ellos no me oyeron.
12 'You wil also say this to them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Any jug can be fil ed with wine." And if they answer you, "Do you think we do not know that any jug can be fil ed with wine?"	12 Diles este refrán: Así dice Yahveh, el Dios de Israel: «Todo cántaro se puede llenar de vino». Ellos te dirán: «¿No sabemos de sobra que todo cántaro se puede llenar de vino?»
13 you are to say, "Yahweh says this: Look, I shal fil al the inhabitants of this country, the kings whooccupy the throne of David, the priests, the prophets and al the citizens of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.	13 Entonces les dices: «Pues así dice Yahveh: He aquí que yo lleno de borrachera a todos los habitantes de esta tierra, a los reyes sucesores de David en el trono, a los sacerdotes y profetas y a todos los habitantes de Jerusalén,
14 Then I shal smash them one against the other, parents and children al together, Yahweh declares.Mercilessly, relentlessly, pitilessly, I shal destroy them." '	14 y los estrellaré, a cada cual contra su hermano, padres e hijos a una - oráculo de Yahveh - sin que piedad, compasión y lástima me quiten de destruirlos».
15 Listen and pay attention, do not be proud: Yahweh is speaking!	15 Oíd y escuchad, no seáis altaneros, porque habla Yahveh.
16 Give glory to Yahweh your God before the darkness comes, before your feet stumble on the darkenedmountains. You hope for light, but he wil turn it to shadow dark as death, wil change it to blackness.	16 Dad gloria a vuestro Dios Yahveh antes que haga oscurecer, y antes que se os vayan los pies sobre la sierra oscura, y esperéis la luz, y él la haya convertido en negrura, la haya trocado en tiniebla densa.
17 If you do not listen to this warning, I shal weep in secret for your pride; my eyes wil weep bitterly andstream with tears, for Yahweh's flock is being led into captivity.	17 Pero si no le oyereis, en silencio llorará mi alma por ese orgullo, y dejarán caer mi ojos lágrimas, y verterán copiosas lágrimas, porque va cautiva la grey de Yahveh.
18 Tel the king and the queen mother, 'Sit in a lower place, since your glorious crown has fal en fromyour head.	18 Di al rey y a la Gran Dama: Humillaos, sentaos, porque ha caído de vuestras cabezas vuestra diadema preciosa.
19 The towns of the Negeb are shut off with no one to give access to them. Al Judah has been deported,deported wholesale.'	19 Las ciudades del Négueb están cercadas, y no hay quien abra. Todo Judá es deportado, deportado en masa.
20 Raise your eyes and look at these now coming from the north. Where is the flock once entrusted toyou, the flock which was your pride?	20 Alza tus ojos, Jerusalén, y mira a los que vienen del norte. ¿Dónde está la grey que se te dio, tus preciosas ovejas?
21 What wil you say when they come and punish you, you yourself having taught them? Against you, inthe lead, wil come your friends. Then will not anguish grip you as it grips a woman in labour?	21 ¿Qué dirás cuando te visiten con autoridad sobre ti? Pues lo que tú les enseñabas a hacer sobre ti eran caricias. ¿No te acometerán dolores como de parturienta?
22 And should you ask yourself, 'Why is al this happening to me?' it is because of your great guilt thatyour skirts have been pulled up and you have been manhandled.	22 Pero acaso digas en tus adentros: «¿Por qué me ocurren estas cosas?» Por tu gran culpa han sido alzadas tus faldas y han sido forzados tus calcañales.
23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? And you, can you do right, being soaccustomed to wrong?	23 ¿Muda el kusita su piel, o el leopardo sus pintas? ¡También vosotros podéis entonces hacer el bien, los avezados a hacer el mal!
24 'I shall scatter you like chaff on the desert wind.	24 Por eso os esparcí como paja liviana al viento de la estepa.
25 This is your share, the part allotted you, from me, Yahweh declares, because you have forgotten meand put your trust in Delusion.	25 Esa es tu suerte, el tanto por tu medida que te toca de mi parte - oráculo de Yahveh -: por cuanto que me olvidaste y te fiaste de la Mentira.
26 I am the one who pul s your skirts up over your face to let your shame be seen.	26 Pues también yo te he levantado las faldas sobre tu rostro, y se ha visto tu indecencia.
27 Oh! Your adulteries, your shrieks of pleasure, your vile prostitution! On the hills, in the fields, I haveseen your Horrors. Jerusalem, disaster is coming for you! How much longer till you are made clean?'	27 ¡Ah, tus adulterios y tus relinchos, la bajeza de tu prostitución! Sobre los altos, por la campiña he visto tus Monstruos abominables. ¡Ay de ti, Jerusalén, que no estás pura! ¿Hasta cuándo todavía...?
