Leviticus 10

1 Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu each took his censer, put fire in it and incense on the fire, andpresented unauthorised fire before Yahweh, which was not in accordance with his orders.	1 Nadab et Abihou, fils d’Aaron, prirent chacun leur encensoir. Ils y mirent du feu et, sur ce feu, de l’encens qu’ils offrirent devant Yahvé. Mais ce feu n’était pas conforme à ses ordres.
2 At this a flame leapt out from Yahweh's presence and swal owed them up, and they perished beforeYahweh.	2 Et voilà qu’un feu sortit de devant Yahvé et les dévora: ils moururent là devant Yahvé.
3 Moses then said to Aaron, 'That is what Yahweh meant when he said: In those who are close to me Ishow my holiness, and before al the people I show my glory.' Aaron remained silent.	3 Moïse dit alors à Aaron: “C’est bien ce qu’avait dit Yahvé: En ceux qui m’approchent je ferai voir ma sainteté, et devant tout le peuple je ferai voir ma gloire.” Aaron ne dit pas un mot.
4 Moses summoned Mishael and Elzaphan, sons of Aaron's uncle Uzziel, and said to them, 'Come hereand take your brothers away from the sanctuary, out of the camp.'	4 Moïse appela Mikaël et Elsafan, fils d’Ouziel, l’oncle d’Aaron. Il leur dit: “Approchez et emportez vos frères loin du sanctuaire, hors du camp.”
5 They came and carried them away, still in their tunics, out of the camp, as Moses had said.	5 Ils s’approchèrent donc et les emportèrent dans leurs vêtements hors du camp, comme Moïse l’avait ordonné.
6 Moses said to Aaron and his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, 'Do not disorder your hair or tear your clothes;or you may incur death and his retribution may overtake the whole community. No, it is for the entire House ofIsrael to lament your brothers who have been the victims of Yahweh's fire.	6 Moïse dit encore à Aaron, à Éléazar et à Itamar, ses fils: “Ne dénouez pas vos cheveux et ne déchirez pas vos habits en signe de deuil, car ce serait votre mort et le Seigneur s’irriterait contre toute la communauté. Ce sont vos frères de toute la communauté d’Israël, qui se lamenteront pour ce feu qu’a envoyé Yahvé.
7 To avoid incurring death, do not leave the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, for Yahweh's anointing oilis on you.' And they did as Moses said.	7 Mais vous, ne sortez pas de devant la Tente du Rendez-Vous, sinon ce serait la mort, car l’huile de consécration de Yahvé est sur vous.” Ils firent donc comme Moïse l’avait dit.
8 Yahweh spoke to Aaron and said:	8 Yahvé s’adressa à Aaron et lui dit:
9 'When you come to the Tent of Meeting, you and your sons with you, to avoid incurring death you maynot drink wine or any other fermented liquor. This is a perpetual law for all your descendants.	9 “Tu ne boiras ni vin, ni boisson enivrante, et tes fils non plus, lorsque vous entrerez dans la Tente du Rendez-Vous. Sinon, ce serait la mort. Cette règle vaudra d’âge en âge, toujours.
10 And so shal it be also when you separate the sacred from the profane, the unclean from the clean,	10 Ainsi vous saurez séparer le sacré et le profane, l’impur et le pur,
11 and when you teach the Israelites any of the decrees that Yahweh has pronounced for them throughMoses.'	11 et vous pourrez enseigner aux Israélites tous les rites que Yahvé vous a donnés par la bouche de Moïse.”
12 Moses said to Aaron and his surviving sons, Eleazar and Ithamar, 'Take the cereal offering left overfrom the food burnt for Yahweh. Eat the unleavened part of it beside the altar, since it is especial y holy.	12 Moïse dit à Aaron, ainsi qu’à Éléazar et Itamar, les deux fils qui lui restaient: “Prenez ce qui reste du sacrifice offert par le feu pour Yahvé. Mangez-le comme un pain sans levain à côté de l’autel, car c’est une part très sainte.
13 Eat it in the holy place, since it is the portion of the food burnt for Yahweh that is prescribed for youand your sons; this is the order I have received.	13 Vous le mangerez dans un lieu pur, car c’est ta part et la part de tes fils sur les sacrifices offerts par le feu, pour Yahvé, comme il me l’a commandé.
14 'You, your sons and daughters with you, wil eat in a clean place the forequarter offered and the thighpresented, for these have been given to you and your children as your due from the Israelites' communionsacrifices.	14 Vous mangerez dans un lieu pur, toi, tes fils et tes filles, la poitrine qui a été balancée et la cuisse qui a été prélevée, car c’est ta part et la part de tes fils, sur les sacrifices de communion que les Israélites me présentent.
15 The thigh presented and the forequarter offered, once the fat has been burnt, revert to you and yoursons with you, after they have been presented before Yahweh with the gesture of offering, in virtue of aperpetual law as Yahweh has ordered.'	15 Ils apporteront en plus des graisses du sacrifice par le feu, la cuisse qui a été prélevée et la poitrine qui doit être balancée. On les balancera devant Yahvé, et ils seront pour toi et pour tes fils; c’est un droit perpétuel: Yahvé l’a ordonné.
16 Moses then enquired careful y about the goat offered as a sacrifice for sin, and found that they hadburnt it. He was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's surviving sons, and said,	16 Moïse rechercha le bouc de l’expiation, et s’aperçut qu’il avait été brûlé. Il se mit en colère contre Éléazar et Itamar, les deux fils qui restaient à Aaron:
17 'Why did you not eat this victim for sin in the holy place, since it is especial y holy and was given toyou to take away the community's guilt, by performing the rite of expiation for them before Yahweh?	17 “Pourquoi n’avez-vous pas mangé la victime du sacrifice d’expiation dans un lieu saint, leur dit-il, c’est une part sainte, et Yahvé vous l’a donnée pour expier le péché de la communauté et obtenir son pardon devant Yahvé.
18 Since its blood was not taken inside the sanctuary, you should have eaten its meat there, as Iordered you.'	18 Vous deviez introduire le sang de la victime à l’intérieur du sanctuaire, et la manger dans le sanctuaire, comme il me l’a ordonné.”
19 Aaron said to Moses, 'Look, today they offered their sacrifice for sin and their burnt offering beforeYahweh, and these disasters have befal en me. If I had eaten the sin offering today, would this have met withYahweh's approval?'	19 Aaron répondit à Moïse: “Ils ont bien offert aujourd’hui un sacrifice pour le péché et un holocauste, devant Yahvé. Mais après ce qui m’est arrivé aujourd’hui, qu’aurait dit Yahvé, si j’avais mangé du sacrifice pour le péché?”
20 And when Moses heard this, he was satisfied.	20 Cette explication parut bonne à Moïse.
