Isaiah 53

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Who has given credence to what we have heard? And who has seen in it a revelation of Yahweh'sarm?	1 Chi prestò fede al nostro annuncio e a chi si è rivelato il braccio del Signore?
2 Like a sapling he grew up before him, like a root in arid ground. He had no form or charm to attract us,no beauty to win our hearts;	2 Crebbe come un virgulto davanti a lui e come una radice che sbocciava da arida terra. Non aveva figura né splendore per attirare i nostri sguardi, né prestanza, sì da poterlo apprezzare.
3 he was despised, the lowest of men, a man of sorrows, familiar with suffering, one from whom, as itwere, we averted our gaze, despised, for whom we had no regard.	3 Disprezzato, ripudiato dagli uomini, uomo dei dolori, conoscitore della sofferenza, simile a uno davanti al quale ci si copre la faccia, disprezzato, sì che non ne facemmo alcun caso.
4 Yet ours were the sufferings he was bearing, ours the sorrows he was carrying, while we thought of himas someone being punished and struck with affliction by God;	4 Eppure, egli portò le nostre infermità, e si addossò i nostri dolori. Noi lo ritenemmo come un castigato, un percosso da Dio e umiliato.
5 whereas he was being wounded for our rebel ions, crushed because of our guilt; the punishmentreconciling us fel on him, and we have been healed by his bruises.	5 Ma egli fu trafitto a causa dei nostri peccati, fu schiacciato a causa delle nostre colpe. Il castigo che ci rende la pace fu su di lui e per le sue piaghe noi siamo stati guariti.
6 We had al gone astray like sheep, each taking his own way, and Yahweh brought the acts of rebellionof al of us to bear on him.	6 Noi tutti come pecore erravamo, ognuno di noi seguiva il suo cammino e il Signore fece ricadere su di lui l'iniquità di tutti noi.
7 Il -treated and afflicted, he never opened his mouth, like a lamb led to the slaughter-house, like a sheepdumb before its shearers he never opened his mouth.	7 Maltrattato, egli si è umiliato e non aprì bocca; come un agnello condotto al macello, come pecora muta davanti ai suoi tosatori non aprì bocca.
8 Forcibly, after sentence, he was taken. Which of his contemporaries was concerned at his having beencut off from the land of the living, at his having been struck dead for his people's rebel ion?	8 Con violenza e condanna fu strappato via; chi riflette al suo destino? Sì, è stato tolto dalla terra dei vivi, per l'iniquità del mio popolo fu percosso a morte.
9 He was given a grave with the wicked, and his tomb is with the rich, although he had done no violence,had spoken no deceit.	9 Gli diedero sepoltura con gli empi e il suo sepolcro è con i malfattori, benché non abbia commesso violenza e non vi fosse inganno nella sua bocca.
10 It was Yahweh's good pleasure to crush him with pain; if he gives his life as a sin offering, he wil seehis offspring and prolong his life, and through him Yahweh's good pleasure wil be done.	10 Ma al Signore piacque stritolarlo con la sofferenza; se offre la sua vita in sacrificio di espiazione, vedrà una discendenza longeva e la volontà del Signore si compirà grazie a lui.
11 After the ordeal he has endured, he wil see the light and be content. By his knowledge, the uprightone, my servant wil justify many by taking their guilt on himself.	11 Dopo l'angoscia della sua anima vedrà la luce, si sazierà della sua conoscenza. Il giusto mio servo giustificherà molti, addossandosi egli le loro iniquità.
12 Hence I shall give him a portion with the many, and he wil share the booty with the mighty, for havingexposed himself to death and for being counted as one of the rebel ious, whereas he was bearing the sin ofmany and interceding for the rebel ious.	12 Perciò gli darò in eredità le moltitudini, e distribuirà il bottino insieme ai potenti, perché ha offerto se stesso alla morte e fu computato fra i malfattori. Egli invece portò il peccato di molti ed intercedette per i peccatori.
