Isaiah 34

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Come near and listen, you nations, pay attention, you peoples. Let the earth and its contents listen, theworld and its entire population.	1 Aproximai-vos, nações, para ouvir, e vós, Povos, estai atentos! Que ouça a terra e tudo o que ela contém, o mundo e tudo o que ele produz,
2 For Yahweh is angry with al the nations, enraged with al their hordes. He has vowed them todestruction, handed them over to slaughter.	2 porque o Senhor está indignado contra todas as nações e enfurecido contra todas as suas tropas. Ele as devotou ao massacre e as destinou ao morticínio.
3 Their dead wil be thrown away, the stench wil rise from their corpses, the mountains wil run with theirblood,	3 Os que forem mortos serão atirados sem sepultura, e o mau cheiro exalará de seus cadáveres; os montes serão banhados de sangue,
4 the entire array of heaven wil fall apart. The heavens wil be rol ed up like a scrol and al their array willfade away, as fade the leaves fal ing from the vine, as fade those fal ing from the fig tree.	4 que escorrerá de todas as colinas; os céus se enrolarão como um livro, e todo o seu exército tombará, como cai da vinha a folha morta, como deixa a figueira o verdor emurchecido,
5 For my sword has drunk deep in the heavens: see how it now fal s on Edom, on the people vowed todestruction, to punish them.	5 porque, nos céus, está inebriada {de cólera} a espada do Senhor. Ela vai precipitar-se sobre Edom, sobre o povo que ele destinou ao castigo.
6 Yahweh's sword is gorged with blood, it is greasy with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, with thefat of the kidneys of rams. For Yahweh has a sacrifice in Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of Edom.	6 A espada do Senhor está coberta de sangue, está impregnada de gordura, do sangue dos cordeiros e dos bodes, da gordura dos rins dos carneiros. Porque há um sacrifício ao Senhor em Bosra, uma grande carnificina na terra de Edom;
7 The wild oxen will fal with them, the bullocks with the bul s; their land wil be drenched with blood andtheir dust wil be greasy with fat.	7 em vez de búfalos, os povos aí tombarão, uma multidão de robustos guerreiros, em lugar de touros. Sua terra embeber-se-á de sangue, o chão impregnar-se-á de gordura.
8 For this wil be Yahweh's day of vengeance, the year of retribution in Zion's lawsuit.	8 Porque é para o Senhor um dia de vingança, um ano de desforra para o defensor de Sião.
9 Its streams will turn into pitch, its dust into brimstone, its country wil turn into blazing pitch.	9 As torrentes da terra mudar-se-ão em pez, e sua terra em enxofre; o chão tornar-se-á pez que arderá
10 Never quenched night or day, its smoke rising for ever, it wil lie waste age after age, no one wil travelthrough it for ever and ever.	10 dia e noite; jamais se extinguirá, e sua fumaça subirá de geração em geração; {ela} será transformada em deserto por toda a eternidade, e jamais alguém passará por ali.
11 It wil be the haunt of pelican and hedgehog, the owl and the raven wil live there; over it Yahweh wilstretch the measuring line of chaos and the plumb-line of emptiness.	11 Será domínio do mocho e da garça, a coruja e o corvo habitá-la-ão. O Senhor estenderá sobre ela o cordel da destruição, e o fio de prumo da desolação.
12 There will be no more nobles to proclaim the royal authority; there will be an end of al its princes.	12 Os sátiros farão aí sua morada, ... seus covis. Nela não mais se falará em rei, e todos os seus príncipes terão desaparecido.
13 Brambles wil grow in its bastions, nettles and thorn-bushes in its fortresses, it will be the lair ofjackals, an enclosure for ostriches.	13 Os espinhos crescerão em seus palácios, as urtigas e os cardos, em suas fortalezas; será o covil dos chacais e o parque das avestruzes.
14 Wild cats wil meet hyenas there, satyr will cal to satyr, there Lilith too wil lurk and find somewhere torest.	14 Nela se encontrarão cães e gatos selvagens, e os sátiros chamarão uns pelos outros; espectro noturno freqüentará esses lugares e neles encontrará o seu repouso.
15 The snake wil nest and lay eggs there, will hatch and gather its young into the shade; and there thevultures wil assemble, each one with its mate.	15 A serpente lá fará seu ninho e porá ovos, chocá-los-á e fará sair da casca os filhotes; lá também se ajuntarão os abutres, nenhum estará ausente.
16 Search in Yahweh's book, and read, not one of these will be missing, not one of them lacking a mate;for thus his mouth has ordained it, and his spirit has brought them together.	16 Procurai no livro do Senhor {e lede}: nem um só deles faltará, porque é a boca do Senhor que os mandou, e seu espírito que os ajuntou.
17 He has thrown the lot for each, his hand has measured out their share; they wil possess it for ever,and live there age after age.	17 Foi ele que lhes designou seu quinhão, foi sua mão que lhes repartiu a terra com o cordel. Eles a possuirão para sempre, habitá-la-ão de geração em geração.
