Isaiah 34

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Come near and listen, you nations, pay attention, you peoples. Let the earth and its contents listen, theworld and its entire population.	1 Accostatevi, o popoli, per udire; nazioni, fate attenzione! Ascolti la terra e ciò che la riempie, il mondo e quanto esso produce!
2 For Yahweh is angry with al the nations, enraged with al their hordes. He has vowed them todestruction, handed them over to slaughter.	2 Perché il Signore si è adirato contro tutte le nazioni, si è sdegnato contro tutti i loro eserciti, li ha condannati all'anatema, li ha destinati al massacro.
3 Their dead wil be thrown away, the stench wil rise from their corpses, the mountains wil run with theirblood,	3 I loro trafitti sono stati gettati via, e dai loro cadaveri sale il fetore, del loro sangue i monti grondano.
4 the entire array of heaven wil fall apart. The heavens wil be rol ed up like a scrol and al their array willfade away, as fade the leaves fal ing from the vine, as fade those fal ing from the fig tree.	4 Si dissolve tutta l'armata del cielo, i cieli si arrotolano come un libro, tutte le loro schiere cadranno, come cade il pampino della vite, come le foglie avvizzite del fico.
5 For my sword has drunk deep in the heavens: see how it now fal s on Edom, on the people vowed todestruction, to punish them.	5 Sì, la mia spada si è inebriata nel cielo, ecco, essa si abbatte contro Edom e contro il popolo che ho votato alla condanna.
6 Yahweh's sword is gorged with blood, it is greasy with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, with thefat of the kidneys of rams. For Yahweh has a sacrifice in Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of Edom.	6 La spada del Signore è piena di sangue, è intrisa di adipe, del sangue di agnelli e di capri, del grasso delle viscere dei montoni, perché il Signore offre un sacrificio in Bozra, un grande massacro nella terra di Edom.
7 The wild oxen will fal with them, the bullocks with the bul s; their land wil be drenched with blood andtheir dust wil be greasy with fat.	7 Con essi cadono bisonti, giovenche insieme con tori; la loro terra gronda sangue e la loro polvere s'impingua di adipe.
8 For this wil be Yahweh's day of vengeance, the year of retribution in Zion's lawsuit.	8 Perché è il giorno della vendetta del Signore, l'anno della retribuzione per il difensore di Sion.
9 Its streams will turn into pitch, its dust into brimstone, its country wil turn into blazing pitch.	9 I suoi torrenti si cambieranno in pece, la sua polvere in zolfo, il loro paese diventerà pece ardente.
10 Never quenched night or day, its smoke rising for ever, it wil lie waste age after age, no one wil travelthrough it for ever and ever.	10 Né giorno né notte si estinguerà, il suo fumo salirà eternamente; rimarrà arido di generazione in generazione, nessuno più vi passerà.
11 It wil be the haunt of pelican and hedgehog, the owl and the raven wil live there; over it Yahweh wilstretch the measuring line of chaos and the plumb-line of emptiness.	11 L'occuperanno il pellicano e la civetta, vi abiteranno il gufo ed il corvo. Il Signore stenderà su di esso la corda della solitudine e la livella del vuoto.
12 There will be no more nobles to proclaim the royal authority; there will be an end of al its princes.	12 Vi prenderanno dimora i satiri e i suoi nobili non vi saranno più; non vi si proclameranno più i re e tutti i suoi prìncipi saranno annientati.
13 Brambles wil grow in its bastions, nettles and thorn-bushes in its fortresses, it will be the lair ofjackals, an enclosure for ostriches.	13 Nei suoi palazzi cresceranno le spine, nelle sue fortezze ortiche e cardi; esso diventerà dimora di sciacalli, riparo degli struzzi.
14 Wild cats wil meet hyenas there, satyr will cal to satyr, there Lilith too wil lurk and find somewhere torest.	14 Cani selvatici s'incontreranno con le iene, e i satiri si chiameranno l'un l'altro; ivi ancora abiterà Lilìt, trovandovi il riposo.
15 The snake wil nest and lay eggs there, will hatch and gather its young into the shade; and there thevultures wil assemble, each one with its mate.	15 Quivi si anniderà la vipera, deporrà le uova, le coverà, le farà schiudere nell'ombra; là si raduneranno pure gli avvoltoi, nessuno perderà il suo compagno.
16 Search in Yahweh's book, and read, not one of these will be missing, not one of them lacking a mate;for thus his mouth has ordained it, and his spirit has brought them together.	16 Cercate nel libro del Signore e leggete: nessuno di essi mancherà, perché la sua bocca l'ha comandato ed è il suo spirito che li raduna.
17 He has thrown the lot for each, his hand has measured out their share; they wil possess it for ever,and live there age after age.	17 Egli getterà per essi la sorte; la sua mano ha ripartito loro il paese con misura, lo possederanno per l'eternità, vi abiteranno di generazione in generazione.
