¹ Come near and listen, you nations, pay attention, you peoples. Let the earth and its contents listen, theworld and its entire population.	¹ Avvicinatevi, nazioni, per udire, e voi, popoli, prestate ascolto; ascolti la terra e quanti vi abitano, il mondo e quanto produce!
² For Yahweh is angry with al the nations, enraged with al their hordes. He has vowed them todestruction, handed them over to slaughter.	² Poiché il Signore è adirato contro tutte le nazioni ed è sdegnato contro tutti i loro eserciti; li ha votati allo sterminio, li ha destinati al massacro.
³ Their dead wil be thrown away, the stench wil rise from their corpses, the mountains wil run with theirblood,	³ I loro uccisi sono gettati via, si diffonde il fetore dei loro cadaveri; grondano i monti del loro sangue.
⁴ the entire array of heaven wil fall apart. The heavens wil be rol ed up like a scrol and al their array willfade away, as fade the leaves fal ing from the vine, as fade those fal ing from the fig tree.	⁴ Tutto l’esercito celeste si dissolve, i cieli si arrotolano come un libro, tutto il loro esercito cade come cade il pampino dalla vite, la foglia avvizzita dal fico.
⁵ For my sword has drunk deep in the heavens: see how it now fal s on Edom, on the people vowed todestruction, to punish them.	⁵ Poiché nel cielo si è inebriata la mia spada, ecco, si abbatte su Edom, sul popolo che io stermino, per fare giustizia.
⁶ Yahweh's sword is gorged with blood, it is greasy with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, with thefat of the kidneys of rams. For Yahweh has a sacrifice in Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of Edom.	⁶ La spada del Signore è piena di sangue, è imbrattata di grasso, del sangue di agnelli e di capri, delle viscere grasse dei montoni, perché si compie un sacrificio al Signore a Bosra, un grande massacro nella terra di Edom.
⁷ The wild oxen will fal with them, the bullocks with the bul s; their land wil be drenched with blood andtheir dust wil be greasy with fat.	⁷ Cadono bisonti insieme con essi, giovenchi insieme con tori. La loro terra s’imbeve di sangue, la loro polvere s’impingua di grasso.
⁸ For this wil be Yahweh's day of vengeance, the year of retribution in Zion's lawsuit.	⁸ Poiché è il giorno della vendetta del Signore, l’anno della retribuzione per la causa di Sion.
⁹ Its streams will turn into pitch, its dust into brimstone, its country wil turn into blazing pitch.	⁹ I torrenti di quella terra si cambieranno in pece, la sua polvere in zolfo, la sua terra diventerà pece ardente.
¹⁰ Never quenched night or day, its smoke rising for ever, it wil lie waste age after age, no one wil travelthrough it for ever and ever.	¹⁰ Non si spegnerà né di giorno né di notte, sempre salirà il suo fumo; per tutte le generazioni resterà deserta, mai più alcuno vi passerà.
¹¹ It wil be the haunt of pelican and hedgehog, the owl and the raven wil live there; over it Yahweh wilstretch the measuring line of chaos and the plumb-line of emptiness.	¹¹ Ne prenderanno possesso il gufo e la civetta, l’ibis e il corvo vi faranno dimora. Egli stenderà su di essa la misura del vuoto e la livella del nulla.
¹² There will be no more nobles to proclaim the royal authority; there will be an end of al its princes.	¹² Non ci saranno più i suoi nobili, non si proclameranno più re, tutti i suoi prìncipi saranno ridotti a nulla.
¹³ Brambles wil grow in its bastions, nettles and thorn-bushes in its fortresses, it will be the lair ofjackals, an enclosure for ostriches.	¹³ Nei suoi palazzi cresceranno le spine, ortiche e cardi sulle sue fortezze; diventerà una tana di sciacalli, recinto per gli struzzi.
¹⁴ Wild cats wil meet hyenas there, satyr will cal to satyr, there Lilith too wil lurk and find somewhere torest.	¹⁴ Bestie selvatiche si incontreranno con iene, i sàtiri si chiameranno l’un l’altro; là si poserà anche Lilit e vi troverà tranquilla dimora.
¹⁵ The snake wil nest and lay eggs there, will hatch and gather its young into the shade; and there thevultures wil assemble, each one with its mate.	¹⁵ Vi si anniderà il serpente, vi deporrà le uova, le farà dischiudere e raccoglierà piccoli alla sua ombra; vi si raduneranno anche gli sparvieri, l’uno in cerca dell’altro.
¹⁶ Search in Yahweh's book, and read, not one of these will be missing, not one of them lacking a mate;for thus his mouth has ordained it, and his spirit has brought them together.	¹⁶ Cercate nel libro del Signore e leggete: nessuno di essi vi manca, l’uno non deve attendere l’altro, poiché la bocca del Signore lo ha comandato e il suo spirito li raduna.
¹⁷ He has thrown the lot for each, his hand has measured out their share; they wil possess it for ever,and live there age after age.	¹⁷ Egli ha gettato per loro la sorte, la sua mano ha diviso per loro la terra con la corda: la possederanno per sempre, la abiteranno di generazione in generazione.
