Isaiah 14

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Yahweh wil have pity on Jacob, he wil choose Israel once more and resettle them on their native soil.Foreigners will join them, attaching themselves to the House of Jacob.	1 Porque o Senhor terá compaixão de Jacó, e ainda dará a Israel a sua predileção e os restabelecerá na sua terra, os estrangeiros se reunirão a eles e se agregarão à casa de Jacó.
2 Peoples wil take them and escort them home, and the House of Israel wil take them as slaves, menand women on Yahweh's soil. They wil enslave those who enslaved them and wil master their oppressors.	2 Os povos virão buscá-los para conduzi-los à sua morada. Possuí-los-á a casa de Israel na terra do Senhor como servos e como servas. Conservarão prisioneiros aqueles que os tinham detido, e dominarão seus opressores.
3 When that day comes, and Yahweh gives you rest from your suffering and torment and the grimservitude to which you have been subjected,	3 Quando o Senhor te tiver aliviado de tuas penas, de teus tormentos e da dura servidão a que estiveste sujeito,
4 you wil recite this satire on the king of Babylon and say: 'How did the tyrant end? How did hisarrogance end?	4 cantarás esta sátira contra o rei de Babilônia, e dirás: Como? Não existe mais o tirano! Acabou-se a tormenta!
5 Yahweh has broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of rulers,	5 O Senhor despedaçou o bastão dos perversos e o cetro dos opressores.
6 furiously lashing peoples with continual blows, angrily hammering nations, pursuing without respite.	6 Ele feria os povos com fúria, vibrando golpes sem interrupção, e governava as nações com brutalidade, subjugando-as sem piedade.
7 The whole world is at rest and calm, shouts of joy resounding,	7 Toda a terra conhece o repouso e a paz, todos exultam em cantos de alegria.
8 the cypresses, the cedars of Lebanon, rejoice aloud at your fate, "Now that you have been laid low, noone comes up to fell us."	8 Até os ciprestes se regozijam de tua queda, dizendo com os cedros do Líbano: Desde que caíste, não sobe até nós o lenhador.
9 'On your account, Sheol below is astir to greet your arrival. He has roused the ghosts to greet you, althe rulers of the world. He has made al the kings of the nations get up from their thrones.	9 Debaixo da terra se agita a morada dos mortos, para receber-te à tua chegada; despertam em tua honra as sombras dos grandes, e todos os senhores da terra, e levantam-se de seus tronos todos os reis das nações.
10 They will all greet you with the words, "So, you too are now as weak as we are! You, too, havebecome like us.	10 Todos tomam a palavra para dizer-te: Finalmente, eis-te fraco como nós, eis-te semelhante a nós.
11 Your pride has been flung down to Sheol with the music of your lyres; under you a mattress ofmaggots, over you a blanket of worms.	11 Tua majestade desceu à morada dos mortos, acompanhada do som de tuas harpas. Jazes sobre um leito de vermes e os vermes são a tua coberta.
12 How did you come to fal from the heavens, Daystar, son of Dawn? How did you come to be thrown tothe ground, conqueror of nations?	12 Então! Caíste dos céus, astro brilhante, filho da aurora! Então! Foste abatido por terra, tu que prostravas as nações!
13 You who used to think to yourself: I shal scale the heavens; higher than the stars of God I shall setmy throne. I shal sit on the Mount of Assembly far away to the north.	13 Tu dizias: Escalarei os céus e erigirei meu trono acima das estrelas. Assentar-me-ei no monte da assembléia, no extremo norte.
14 I shal climb high above the clouds, I shal rival the Most High."	14 Subirei sobre as nuvens mais altas e me tornarei igual ao Altíssimo.
15 Now you have been flung down to Sheol, into the depths of the abyss!	15 E, entretanto, eis que foste precipitado à morada dos mortos, ao mais profundo abismo.
16 'When they see you, they will scrutinise you and consider what you have become, "Is this the manwho made the world tremble, who overthrew kingdoms?	16 Detêm-se para ver-te melhor, e procuram reconhecer-te: Porventura é aquele que fazia tremer a terra, e abalava os impérios,
17 He made the world a desert, he level ed cities and never freed his prisoners to go home."	17 que fazia do mundo um deserto, e destruía as cidades, e impedia os prisioneiros de voltarem para suas casas?
18 Al other kings of nations, al of them, lie honourably, each in his own tomb;	18 Todos os reis das nações, todos repousam com glória, cada um no seu túmulo;
19 but you have been thrown away, unburied, like a loathsome branch, covered with heaps of the slainpierced by the sword who fal on the rocks of the abyss like trampled carrion.	19 tu, porém, foste atirado para longe de teu sepulcro, como um aborto que causa horror. Os cadáveres dos homens mortos à espada jazem sobre as pedras de uma tumba;
20 'You wil not rejoin them in the grave, for you have brought your country to ruin and destroyed yourpeople. The offspring of the wicked leave no name behind them.	20 tal como uma carniça que se calca aos pés, tu não te reunirás a eles no sepulcro, porque arruinaste tua terra, e fizeste perecer o teu povo. Nunca, jamais se falará da raça dos ímpios.
21 Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their father! Never again must they rise to conquer theworld and cover the face of the earth with their cities.	21 Preparai o massacre dos filhos por causa da iniqüidade dos pais. Que eles não se levantem para conquistar o mundo, e invadir toda a face da terra.
22 'I wil rise against them, declares Yahweh Sabaoth, and deprive Babylon of name, remnant, offspringand posterity, declares Yahweh.	22 Levantar-me-ei contra eles, declara o Senhor dos exércitos, apagarei o nome e o vestígio de Babilônia, sua raça e sua posteridade, diz o Senhor.
23 I shal turn it into the haunt of hedgehogs, a swamp. I shal sweep it with the broom of destruction,declares Yahweh Sabaoth.'	23 Farei dela o domínio da garça real, um lodaçal. Varrê-la-ei com a vassoura da destruição, - palavra do Senhor dos exércitos.
24 Yahweh Sabaoth has sworn it, 'Yes, what I have planned wil take place, what I have decided will beso:	24 Jurou o Senhor dos exércitos: Por certo será feito como eu decidi, e o que resolvi se cumprirá.
25 'I shal break Assyria in my country, I shal trample on him on my mountains. Then his yoke wil slip offthem, his burden wil slip from their shoulders.'	25 Esmagarei o assírio em minha terra e o calcarei aos pés nos meus montes. Serão livres de seu jugo, e o seu fardo não lhes pesará nos ombros.
26 This is the decision taken in defiance of the whole world; this, the hand outstretched in defiance of alnations.	26 Eis a decisão tomada para toda a terra; é assim que eu estendo a mão sobre todas as nações.
27 Once Yahweh Sabaoth has decided, who wil stop him? Once he stretches out his hand, who canwithdraw it?	27 O Senhor dos exércitos decidiu, quem mudará sua sentença? Sua mão está estendida, quem o fará retirá-la?
28 In the year Ahaz died came this proclamation:	28 Este oráculo data do ano da morte do rei Acaz:
29 Al Philistia, do not rejoice because the rod which used to beat you is now broken, for the serpentstock wil produce a viper, its offspring wil be a flying dragon.	29 Não te alegres, ó terra dos filisteus, de que tenha sido quebrada a vara que te feria, porque da estirpe da serpente nascerá uma áspide, e seu fruto será um dragão voador.
30 While the first-born of the poor are grazing and the destitute are resting in safety, I shall make yourstock die of hunger and then slaughter what remains of you.	30 Os humildes poderão pastar nas minhas pastagens, e os pobres dormirão tranqüilos. Eu farei, porém, morrer de fome a tua raça, e matarei tua posteridade.
31 Howl, gate! Shriek, city! Totter, all Philistia! For a smoke is coming from the north, and there are nodeserters in those battalions.	31 Lamenta-te, ó porta! Grita, ó cidade! Treme, ó terra inteira dos filisteus! Porque do norte vem uma nuvem de poeira, e batalhões em filas cerradas.
32 What reply wil be given then to the messengers of that nation? - That Yahweh founded Zion andthere the poor of his people will find refuge.	32 E que responderá {meu povo} aos mensageiros desta nação? Que o Senhor fundou Sião, e que os humildes de seu povo aí encontrarão o refúgio.
