Isaiah 14

1 Yahweh wil have pity on Jacob, he wil choose Israel once more and resettle them on their native soil.Foreigners will join them, attaching themselves to the House of Jacob.	1 Vicino a venire egli è il suo tempo, e i giorni suoi non son rimoti. Imperocché il Signore avrà misericordia di Giacobbe, e sceglierà ancor d'Israele una mano, e farà, che riposino nel lor paese. Congiungerassi a questi lo straniero, e farà lega con la casa di Giacobbe.
2 Peoples wil take them and escort them home, and the House of Israel wil take them as slaves, menand women on Yahweh's soil. They wil enslave those who enslaved them and wil master their oppressors.	2 E i popoli faran loro onore, e gli accompagneranno al loro paese: e la casa d'Israele gli avrà per servi, e serve, ed eglino faran preda de' lor predatori, ed avranno per sudditi i loro esattori.
3 When that day comes, and Yahweh gives you rest from your suffering and torment and the grimservitude to which you have been subjected,	3 E in quel tempo, allorché Iddio ti avrà dato di respirare da tuoi travaglj, e dalla tua oppressione, e dalla dura schiavitù, nella quale fosti tenuto,
4 you wil recite this satire on the king of Babylon and say: 'How did the tyrant end? How did hisarrogance end?	4 Ti servirai di questo cantico contro il re di Babilonia, e dirai: Come mai non si vede più l'esattore, è finito il tributo?
5 Yahweh has broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of rulers,	5 Il Signore ha spezzato il bastone degli empj, la verga de' dominanti,
6 furiously lashing peoples with continual blows, angrily hammering nations, pursuing without respite.	6 La quale con ira percuoteva ì popoli con piaga i rimediabile, tiranneggiava furiosamente le genti, le straziava con crudeltà.
7 The whole world is at rest and calm, shouts of joy resounding,	7 La terra tutta è in silenzio, ed in pace, e gode, ed esulta:
8 the cypresses, the cedars of Lebanon, rejoice aloud at your fate, "Now that you have been laid low, noone comes up to fell us."	8 Gli abeti ancora, e i cedri del Libano fanno festa sopra di te. Dacché tu ti se' addormentato, non verrà alcuno a tagliarci.
9 'On your account, Sheol below is astir to greet your arrival. He has roused the ghosts to greet you, althe rulers of the world. He has made al the kings of the nations get up from their thrones.	9 L'inferno laggiù al tuo arrivo si è commosso: ti ha mandato incontro i giganti: si sono alzati da' loro troni tutti i principi della terra, tutti i principi delle nazioni.
10 They will all greet you with the words, "So, you too are now as weak as we are! You, too, havebecome like us.	10 Tutti quanti volgeranno a te la parola, e diranno: Tu pure se' stato ferito come noi, e se' diventato simile a noi.
11 Your pride has been flung down to Sheol with the music of your lyres; under you a mattress ofmaggots, over you a blanket of worms.	11 E' stata cacciata nell'inferno la tua superbia, il tuo cadavere è steso per terra, tu avrai per coltre il fracidume, e tua coperta saranno i vermi.
12 How did you come to fal from the heavens, Daystar, son of Dawn? How did you come to be thrown tothe ground, conqueror of nations?	12 Come mai se' tu caduto dal cielo, o Lucifero, splendente al mattino? Sei precipitato per terra tu, che staziavi le genti?
13 You who used to think to yourself: I shal scale the heavens; higher than the stars of God I shall setmy throne. I shal sit on the Mount of Assembly far away to the north.	13 Tu che dicevi in cuor tuo: Salirò al cielo: sopra le stelle di Dio innalzerò il mio trono, salirò sul monte del testamento al lato di settentrione.
14 I shal climb high above the clouds, I shal rival the Most High."	14 Sormonterò l'altezza delle nuvole, sarò simile all'Altissimo.
15 Now you have been flung down to Sheol, into the depths of the abyss!	15 Tu però sei stato precipitato nell'inferno, nel profondo della fossa:
16 'When they see you, they will scrutinise you and consider what you have become, "Is this the manwho made the world tremble, who overthrew kingdoms?	16 Quegli, che ti vedranno, ti si inchineranno, e ti considereranno: E egli questo quell'uomo, che ha conturbata la terra, che ha scossi i reami,
17 He made the world a desert, he level ed cities and never freed his prisoners to go home."	17 Che ha disertato il mondo, e distrutte le citta, e a suoi prigionieri non aperse mai la carcere?
18 Al other kings of nations, al of them, lie honourably, each in his own tomb;	18 Tutti i re delle genti sono tutti morti gloriosi, ognuno è ito nella sua casa.
19 but you have been thrown away, unburied, like a loathsome branch, covered with heaps of the slainpierced by the sword who fal on the rocks of the abyss like trampled carrion.	19 Ma tu sei stato gittato lungi dal tuo sepolcro, quasi arbore inutile, e immondo, e confuso come putrido cadavere con quei, che sono stati uccisi di spada, e son discesi nel fondo della fossa.
20 'You wil not rejoin them in the grave, for you have brought your country to ruin and destroyed yourpeople. The offspring of the wicked leave no name behind them.	20 Tu con quelli non avrai società neppur nel sepolcro: perocché hai distrutto il tuo paese, hai fatto perire il tuo popolo. Non sarà per sempre la stirpe de' malfattori.
21 Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their father! Never again must they rise to conquer theworld and cover the face of the earth with their cities.	21 Preparate i figliuoli di lui ad essere uccisi per l'iniquità de' loro padri. Non cresceranno, né saranno eredi della terra, e non empieranno il mondo di cittadi.
22 'I wil rise against them, declares Yahweh Sabaoth, and deprive Babylon of name, remnant, offspringand posterity, declares Yahweh.	22 Io pure mi leverò a' danni loro, dice il Signor degli eserciti, e sperderò il nome di Babilonia, e gli avanzi, e il germe, e la progenie, dice il Signore.
23 I shal turn it into the haunt of hedgehogs, a swamp. I shal sweep it with the broom of destruction,declares Yahweh Sabaoth.'	23 E la darò in dominio agli Ericj, e alle acque stagnanti, e la scoperò con iscopa devastatrice, dice il Signor degli eserciti.
24 Yahweh Sabaoth has sworn it, 'Yes, what I have planned wil take place, what I have decided will beso:	24 Il Signore degli eserciti ha giurato, dicendo: Come io ho pensato, così sarà, e come nell'animo mio ho disegnato, cosi avverrà.
25 'I shal break Assyria in my country, I shal trample on him on my mountains. Then his yoke wil slip offthem, his burden wil slip from their shoulders.'	25 Io distruggerò l'Assiro nella mia terra, e lo conculcherò sulle mie colline; e sarà levato da Israele il giogo di lui, e il peso di lui dalle sue spalle.
26 This is the decision taken in defiance of the whole world; this, the hand outstretched in defiance of alnations.	26 Questo è quello, che io ho pensato, e risoluto riguardo a tutta la terra, e stenderò cosi la mano sopra tutte le genti;
27 Once Yahweh Sabaoth has decided, who wil stop him? Once he stretches out his hand, who canwithdraw it?	27 Imperocché il Signore degli eserciti ha risoluto, e chi potrà dar di bianco? E la mano di lui è stesa, e chi potrà trattenerla?
28 In the year Ahaz died came this proclamation:	28 L'anno, in cui morì il re Achaz, tu fatto questo pesante annunzio:
29 Al Philistia, do not rejoice because the rod which used to beat you is now broken, for the serpentstock wil produce a viper, its offspring wil be a flying dragon.	29 Filistei quanti voi siete, non vi rallegrate, che sia stata fatta in pezzi la verga, che vi batteva; perocché dal la stirpe del serpente nascerà un basilisco, e la stirpe di quello ingoierà gli uccelli.
30 While the first-born of the poor are grazing and the destitute are resting in safety, I shall make yourstock die of hunger and then slaughter what remains of you.	30 E i primi tra i mendichi avranno del pane, e i poveri ripeseranno con fidanza: e farò perire di fame la tua radice, e ucciderò tutto quello, che di te rimarrà.
31 Howl, gate! Shriek, city! Totter, all Philistia! For a smoke is coming from the north, and there are nodeserters in those battalions.	31 Urlino le porte, alzino le loro strida le città: la Filistea tutta è per terra; perocché da settentrione verrà il fumo, e non è chi alle schiere di lui possa sottrarsi.
32 What reply wil be given then to the messengers of that nation? - That Yahweh founded Zion andthere the poor of his people will find refuge.	32 E che si risponderà agli ambasciadori delle nazioni? Il Signore ha fondata Sionne, e in lui spereranno i poveri del suo popolo.
