Isaiah 14

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 Yahweh wil have pity on Jacob, he wil choose Israel once more and resettle them on their native soil.Foreigners will join them, attaching themselves to the House of Jacob.	1 Certo, il Signore avrà pietà di Giacobbe e si sceglierà ancora Israele e li ristabilirà nella loro terra. A loro si uniranno gli stranieri e saranno annessi alla casa di Giacobbe.
2 Peoples wil take them and escort them home, and the House of Israel wil take them as slaves, menand women on Yahweh's soil. They wil enslave those who enslaved them and wil master their oppressors.	2 I popoli li accoglieranno e li ricondurranno nella loro terra, e la casa d’Israele se li farà propri nella terra del Signore, rendendoli schiavi e schiave; così faranno prigionieri coloro che li avevano resi schiavi e domineranno i loro avversari.
3 When that day comes, and Yahweh gives you rest from your suffering and torment and the grimservitude to which you have been subjected,	3 In quel giorno avverrà che il Signore ti libererà dalle tue pene, dal tuo affanno e dalla tua dura schiavitù a cui eri stato assoggettato.
4 you wil recite this satire on the king of Babylon and say: 'How did the tyrant end? How did hisarrogance end?	4 Allora intonerai questa canzone sul re di Babilonia e dirai: «Ah, come è finito l’aguzzino, è finita l’aggressione!
5 Yahweh has broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of rulers,	5 Il Signore ha spezzato la verga degli iniqui, il bastone dei dominatori,
6 furiously lashing peoples with continual blows, angrily hammering nations, pursuing without respite.	6 che percuoteva i popoli nel suo furore, con colpi senza fine, che dominava con furia le nazioni con una persecuzione senza respiro.
7 The whole world is at rest and calm, shouts of joy resounding,	7 Riposa ora tranquilla tutta la terra ed erompe in grida di gioia.
8 the cypresses, the cedars of Lebanon, rejoice aloud at your fate, "Now that you have been laid low, noone comes up to fell us."	8 Persino i cipressi gioiscono per te e anche i cedri del Libano: “Da quando tu sei prostrato, non sale più nessuno a tagliarci”.
9 'On your account, Sheol below is astir to greet your arrival. He has roused the ghosts to greet you, althe rulers of the world. He has made al the kings of the nations get up from their thrones.	9 Gli inferi di sotto si agitano per te, per venirti incontro al tuo arrivo; per te essi svegliano le ombre, tutti i dominatori della terra, e fanno sorgere dai loro troni tutti i re delle nazioni.
10 They will all greet you with the words, "So, you too are now as weak as we are! You, too, havebecome like us.	10 Tutti prendono la parola per dirti: “Anche tu sei stato abbattuto come noi, sei diventato uguale a noi”.
11 Your pride has been flung down to Sheol with the music of your lyres; under you a mattress ofmaggots, over you a blanket of worms.	11 Negli inferi è precipitato il tuo fasto e la musica delle tue arpe. Sotto di te v’è uno strato di marciume, e tua coltre sono i vermi.
12 How did you come to fal from the heavens, Daystar, son of Dawn? How did you come to be thrown tothe ground, conqueror of nations?	12 Come mai sei caduto dal cielo, astro del mattino, figlio dell’aurora? Come mai sei stato gettato a terra, signore di popoli?
13 You who used to think to yourself: I shal scale the heavens; higher than the stars of God I shall setmy throne. I shal sit on the Mount of Assembly far away to the north.	13 Eppure tu pensavi nel tuo cuore: “Salirò in cielo, sopra le stelle di Dio innalzerò il mio trono, dimorerò sul monte dell’assemblea, nella vera dimora divina.
14 I shal climb high above the clouds, I shal rival the Most High."	14 Salirò sulle regioni superiori delle nubi, mi farò uguale all’Altissimo”.
15 Now you have been flung down to Sheol, into the depths of the abyss!	15 E invece sei stato precipitato negli inferi, nelle profondità dell’abisso!
16 'When they see you, they will scrutinise you and consider what you have become, "Is this the manwho made the world tremble, who overthrew kingdoms?	16 Quanti ti vedono ti guardano fisso, ti osservano attentamente: “È questo l’individuo che sconvolgeva la terra, che faceva tremare i regni,
17 He made the world a desert, he level ed cities and never freed his prisoners to go home."	17 che riduceva il mondo a un deserto, che ne distruggeva le città, che non apriva la porta del carcere ai suoi prigionieri?”.
18 Al other kings of nations, al of them, lie honourably, each in his own tomb;	18 Tutti i re dei popoli, tutti riposano con onore, ognuno nella sua tomba.
19 but you have been thrown away, unburied, like a loathsome branch, covered with heaps of the slainpierced by the sword who fal on the rocks of the abyss like trampled carrion.	19 Tu, invece, sei stato gettato fuori del tuo sepolcro, come un virgulto spregevole; sei circondato da uccisi trafitti da spada, deposti sulle pietre della fossa, come una carogna calpestata.
20 'You wil not rejoin them in the grave, for you have brought your country to ruin and destroyed yourpeople. The offspring of the wicked leave no name behind them.	20 Tu non sarai unito a loro nella sepoltura, perché hai rovinato la tua terra, hai assassinato il tuo popolo. Non sarà più nominata la discendenza degli iniqui.
21 Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their father! Never again must they rise to conquer theworld and cover the face of the earth with their cities.	21 Preparate il massacro dei suoi figli a causa dell’iniquità dei loro padri, e non sorgano più a conquistare la terra e a riempire il mondo di rovine».
22 'I wil rise against them, declares Yahweh Sabaoth, and deprive Babylon of name, remnant, offspringand posterity, declares Yahweh.	22 «Io insorgerò contro di loro – oracolo del Signore degli eserciti –, sterminerò il nome e il resto di Babilonia, la prole e la stirpe – oracolo del Signore.
23 I shal turn it into the haunt of hedgehogs, a swamp. I shal sweep it with the broom of destruction,declares Yahweh Sabaoth.'	23 Io la ridurrò a dominio del riccio, a palude stagnante; la spazzerò con la scopa della distruzione». Oracolo del Signore degli eserciti.
24 Yahweh Sabaoth has sworn it, 'Yes, what I have planned wil take place, what I have decided will beso:	24 Il Signore degli eserciti ha giurato dicendo: «In verità, come ho pensato, accadrà, e come ho deciso, succederà.
25 'I shal break Assyria in my country, I shal trample on him on my mountains. Then his yoke wil slip offthem, his burden wil slip from their shoulders.'	25 Io spezzerò l’Assiria nella mia terra e sui miei monti la calpesterò. Allora sparirà da loro il suo giogo, il suo peso dalle loro spalle sarà rimosso».
26 This is the decision taken in defiance of the whole world; this, the hand outstretched in defiance of alnations.	26 Questa è la decisione presa per tutta la terra e questa è la mano stesa su tutte le nazioni.
27 Once Yahweh Sabaoth has decided, who wil stop him? Once he stretches out his hand, who canwithdraw it?	27 Poiché il Signore degli eserciti lo ha deciso; chi potrà renderlo vano? La sua mano è stesa, chi gliela farà ritirare?
28 In the year Ahaz died came this proclamation:	28 Nell’anno in cui morì il re Acaz fu pronunciato questo oracolo:
29 Al Philistia, do not rejoice because the rod which used to beat you is now broken, for the serpentstock wil produce a viper, its offspring wil be a flying dragon.	29 «Non gioire, Filistea tutta, perché si è spezzata la verga di chi ti percuoteva. Poiché dalla radice della serpe uscirà una vipera e il suo frutto sarà un drago alato.
30 While the first-born of the poor are grazing and the destitute are resting in safety, I shall make yourstock die of hunger and then slaughter what remains of you.	30 I più poveri si sazieranno sui miei prati e i miseri riposeranno tranquilli; ma farò morire di fame la tua stirpe e ucciderò il tuo resto.
31 Howl, gate! Shriek, city! Totter, all Philistia! For a smoke is coming from the north, and there are nodeserters in those battalions.	31 Urla, o porta, grida, o città; trema, Filistea tutta, perché dal settentrione si alza il fumo e non c’è disertore tra le sue schiere».
32 What reply wil be given then to the messengers of that nation? - That Yahweh founded Zion andthere the poor of his people will find refuge.	32 Che cosa si risponderà ai messaggeri delle nazioni? «Il Signore ha fondato Sion e in essa si rifugiano gli umili del suo popolo».
